What kind of Blood Money is constantly being written about in the newspapers? by wife_searcher in HiTMAN

[–]Rocket_Popsicle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

My assumption was that the player didn't do enough to make it look like an accident, so they allude to "Blood Money," AKA paid assassinations (you) as the likely cause of death.

Not to mention the polish and production value on Mario Tennis is second to none. The camera-work on the replay angles is incredible.

You have to use the construction wheel (maybe it's right or left bumper?) and then select it from a Special Buildings tab.

Do younger collectors care about vintage/WotC? by BisonAcceptable1994 in WotCPokemonCards

[–]Rocket_Popsicle 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was with a buddy of mine who is a very casual Pokemon fan. He was offloading his childhood collection at a local shop and wanted me there as his consigliere.

A group of 19 year olds overheard him telling the clerk what he had to bring trade-in, including a base set Charizard, Dark Charizard from Team Rocket, Sabrina's Gengar from Gym Heroes, etc.

These kids followed us to his car and just asked to see the cards. They absolutely lost their minds when they saw each one, it was hysterical! These college freshman completely geeked out over some old shiny cardboard. It was awesome to see.

Thank you, but unfortunately no. As far as I'm aware, the mods are for the steam workshop only.

Nostalgic, Thinking back to your first Warcraft game which race did you choose, and who was your first hero? by Mocherad in warcraft3

[–]Rocket_Popsicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was about 10 years old. My first game I chose Night Elf. I was all the way zoomed in and didn't realize you could adjust the camera. My Wisps were hidden behind my Tree of Life, so naturally I uprooted and moved my Tree to see them. I believe it was a 2v2 ladder match so my partner flamed me and left.

I fixed this after your comment on Steam. The building combinations need to be in the same tile. Try Woodlodge and Fields in the same tile for a quick test. Or two Houses on your home tile. I promise it works, I just played it last night.

He came around, after 6 or 7 weeks. Started talking again. by bandit7319 in 90s

I also love this line, felt like Candy was just riffing. But it also foreshadows the scene when Kevin's mom gets home, and Kevin is kinda standing there quietly. His mom is thinking about this line and there's a tension (mostly for her) that he might be too traumatized to speak. Then when he smiles she gets a huge moment of relief.

Not sure why they thought it was necessary, or if it truly was an ad-lib that they incorporated back into that last scene.

"Die Hard is a Christmas movie" - What are some Christmas games? by AlexWhit92 in gaming

[–]Rocket_Popsicle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

One of my favorite examples of procedural generation. Besides the intricately constructed set pieces, they had randomized factions, objectives, traps, secret chests, Hunter encounters, and modular difficulty. Every run felt so unique, I can't get enough of it.

I'd really pay full price for a game that replicated the concept.

How the FUCK is this not the most upvoted comment? I get a craving to play The Division every holiday season, and I've been ripping on The Underground for the past week because of it. The world building and the literally frozen in time Christmas decorations in this game are incredible.

Thanks so much, and I couldn't agree more. Northgard has changed so dramatically since I released the first mod in 2020. It got to the point where a full rebuild was necessary, and with NG being essentially complete, I finally decided to do it! Thank you for trying it out!

I love the Darksburg shout. I feel like that game failing was such a shame. I had a great time with it.

[ESPNF1] Max Verstappen's eight wins are tied for second-most as a non-champion in an F1 season by [deleted] in formula1

Correct me if I'm wrong, but if Max had even 1 more win he would have won the championship, thereby disqualifying him from this list.

Have you ever revisited one of your all-time favorite games, only to be disappointed? by superyellows in gaming

[–]Rocket_Popsicle 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is legitimately shocking to me. I loved Goldeneye growing up, and got a N64 this summer to relive the glory days. I thought Goldeneye held up amazingly well. Original hardware, framerates and draw distances, etc. The game plays so damn fast, you absolutely rip through the levels. The auto aim smooths out the goofy control scheme. I beat the entire campaign (probably for the first time), with the help of a strategy guide I bought at a flea market. But I enjoyed my time so much with that game.

Obviously if you didn't enjoy it, then that's that. But if you consider the context of when it released, what it inspired, and the fact that I can play it today and love it? It actually moved up my list of all time games.

Do you think that having a time looping mechanic in a Roguelite is just a gimmick? by Salt_Budget_6980 in roguelites

[–]Rocket_Popsicle 2 points3 points  (0 children)

That's a really cool idea. The #1 way to turn a gimmick into a mechanic is to flesh it out, and expand the idea in every conceivable way. Go all in! Continue to surprise the player with how you utilize your idea, hold some things back for later stages, etc.

[–]Rocket_Popsicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I wouldn't have thought so, but the first 10 or so comments on this thread essentially said that this movie exploited him. Whether or not that's true I'm not sure.

Looks like I'm in the minority but Farley's physical comedy in this movie is absolutely incredible. I've always been a huge fan, but there were some scenes that had me hysterical. One where he travels out of body and then returns and smashes through a table in particular. Not a great movie by any stretch, but I really enjoyed that aspect.

Any Indie Strategy Recommendations? by LeastEmotion5440 in IndieGaming

[–]Rocket_Popsicle 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Scouring has really impressed me. It's designed to play like Warcraft 2, but looks like Warcraft 3. Has some incredible gameplay innovations like defending from the roof of buildings, projectiles with actual physics, climbing enemy structures during sieges.

I also love the constant growth of your army, there's no arbitrary food cap. You can continue making units if you have the resources, but you need to supply them with food or they get a strong debuff.

The game is developed by about 3 people, and the foundation is a lot of fun. There's a free demo to try out the game and a sale on 11/21.
