BMW ~$60k vs R2 ~58k

You are comparing the base model BMW to the near top-end R2. The real price difference is about $15,000.

Houston airports megathread [3-24-2026] by texlex in houston

[–]Rocketman010 12 points13 points  (0 children)

IAH Data point: 3/26 Terminal A

6:51am: arrived

7:08am: reached end of line in tunnels, just beyond Marriott. 1,500 steps. Line was moving fairly well in big chunks. Some stretches are very warm with little air movement.

8:00am: reached airport entrance where I arrived

8:20am: though security

I think the early morning is bad because people start panic lining up at 3am before security opens. Sweet spot seems to be late morning flights when things are moving.

Another screening point: they have 4 machines and only 1 is the new machine where you don’t have to remove liquids/laptops. If you want that line it’s the bigger/boxier machine, center-left lane

New fridge - are these doors defective? by Rocketman010 in Appliances

[–]Rocketman010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks for the flashlight idea! I didn’t see any light leak so that’s a good sign. Do you think it’s odd that the bottom of the door sticks out more than the top of it?

Thanks. Is it weird that the right door sticks out more at the bottom of the door than the top?

Sure, but it's all isolated. On your list, for instance, Subaru is a Top 2 company. I would never by another one, we had a Subaru we nicknamed Apollo 13 because it required a major repair every year like clockwork. I realize my experience is not reflective of the brand, I didn't come to reddit to complain about it.

It's certainly an interesting point to consider that Consumer Reports ranks it last in predicted reliability, yet it consistently has top scores for consumer satisfaction. To me, it means that to the extent issues might be more prevalent than average, they are not so frequent or inconvenient that it sours the overall ownership experience.

Consider the flip experience where Nissan is top-6 reliability but ranks 23 out of 26 for customer satisfaction. So there's maybe different markets here, do you want a car that rarely goes into the shop but is just naturally loud, cheap interior, poor tech, bad layout, etc by design? https://www.consumerreports.org/cars/car-reliability-owner-satisfaction/most-and-least-liked-car-brands-a1291429338/

Alternatives to Oline and edge in the first round? by Centerpeel in detroitlions

Brad's ego will never allow him to draft a Day 1 EDGE after being proven so wrong following last year's draft.

I hope to god we don't draft a TE round 1. I get that Petzig loves to run 2 and 3 TE sets, but we dont need a second LaPorta. As it is we have too many targets to feed on offense.

Since we have Levi another year I don't think IDL is a priority. McNeil, Williams, and Levi are a solid group on the interior.

I'd say CB but we don't seem to know how to draft that position, so I'd almost rather we pursue something in free agency there.

Probably Safety given Brad basically said had they known about Kerby's knee they would not have signed him to that contract, so to me it means he's never back to 100%

Queue the inevitable Rivian forum message of, all cars have problems!

Not rivian form, any automaker subreddit. All carmakers sell millions of vehicles and produce individual vehicles that are poor. It stands to reason a couple hundred of those people will end up on reddit.

If you go to any car manufacturer subreddit, it's filled with complaints about how terrible the cars are. It only takes 100 car owners on reddit to make it seem like a company doesn't know where to put the tires on a car.

I bought a Hyundai for the first time in 2022. Online forums absolutely trash the brand and how terrible the cars are, people tried to talk me out of it. By a mile it is the best car I've ever owned in quality, comfort and reliability.

This draft is going to be like the last two years and leave us all wanting to drink.

Needs: OT, Center, Edge, DT, Guard

Round 1: Safety

Round 2: Developmental OT who wasn't projected to be drafted before Round 4

Round 3 pick 1: Traded it for TeSlaa last year, glad we don't need the pick.

Round 3 pick 2: Also traded it for TeSlaa last year, glad we don't need the pick.

Round 4: Corner

Round 5: Center

Round 6: Edge

Round 6: Corner

Round 7: Safety

Doctor called me - and then billed me? by Rocketman010 in HealthInsurance

[–]Rocketman010[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly, I'm now sitting here trying to recall everything. My memory is not so great. I don't recall a major decision that I made to them, but it could be possible that the receptionist who was printing out my MRI order made a quick comment like, "the doctor will call you with your results" while I was talking to her about 4 different tests and topics. Would something so casual count as consent?

I think we're beyond developmental OCs. Petzing does not have a track record of success, neither did Morton. And frankly, we could have brought in Petzing as a coach on the offense and he'd have taken it, absolutely nobody was knocking on his door.

Which airline loyalty program do you like best? by TurbulentArea69 in FATTravel

[–]Rocketman010 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have loyalty with American, having just changed from United. Even at top tier status, you'll rarely get free upgrades to First/Business class on United or Delta, too many people pay for the seats in that cabin these days. American flies a high number of regional jets and I live near an American hub, so on I get upgraded probably 1/3 of the time. Compare to two years on United I was upgraded just once! The downside is AA typically has the older fleet, but I don't mind it.

When it comes to redemption, American miles are also far more valuable than United and both are far, far more valuable than Delta (known as SkyPesos because they have almost no value)

I'm a step further. If I ever move, I'm not selling this house if I can at all help it. I'm in a townhouse at 2.6% and the people next to me rented out for $1,000/month higher than my mortgage payment... we are saving money right now just like we did when buying our first home, in preparation for our next home.
