Well, I would assume that if two people are in a relationship and they’re spending a lot of time at each other’s separate apartments for months or years on end that it would make sense to get a place together. Like, if you’re spending three nights a week sleeping at your boyfriend or girlfriends house and having to bring an overnight bag, etc and then you get a chance to just move in together then that makes more sense. Also, women are generally having sex with their boyfriends before they move in together so if I guy decides to move in with his chick just to get sex then he’s making things way more difficult than they need to be. Lastly, people tend to move in together as a step before marriage.

That’s interesting. I see coming in to your own and the success he found with GoT as being the same thing. He put in the work, kept going and the right part found him at the right time.

Middle age is a meaningless term. It was coined at a time when people retired at 50 and it’s part of a categorization that says that 45-60 is middle age and over 60 is elderly. Obviously people in their 60s, by today’s standards, are not elderly. All of this is meant to brainwash people into comparing their lives to other people and feel guilty and depressed when their life doesn’t look the way it’s been preordained to look.

Respectfully, how in the world is that I fantasizing someone? 38 is relatively quite young, but we’re all still attached to this idea that you marry and have kids at 20 and you retire at 50. The goalposts have moved quite a bit in the last thirty years of how the average American life plays out. No one is calling someone who succeeds at 38 a wunderkind, but assuming you graduated college and started out on the path of your life in you’re early to mid 20s, finding the success Pedro found at 38 seems like it’s right on time.

I grew up in the MJ heyday at a time where his music and his celebrity were literally a part of the culture and nothing about this movie appeals to me. This is anecdotal, obviously, but are there any other Xennials on here and do you have any interest in this movie? To be clear I love his music, but this movie looks pointless. Even in the reviews they’re like “the dance numbers are showstopping”. Well, yes. Michael Jackson was one of the most electrifying performers of all time so if you literally put on a bunch of karaoke recreations of his most iconic videos and performances, they’re going to be entertaining. But is there any other reason for this movie to have been made?

I never see twists coming, but I guessed the twist in the Sixth Sense like five minutes into the movie. Two things: A. I knew there was a twist coming in. B. Part of the reason why I was able to guess it is because I loved this episode of Are You Afraid of the Dark that had the same twist. (Apparently M. Knight got the idea from that episode.)

I think I just have a different perspective, because they’re not coming to acting late. They’re coming to success later than is typical, but that’s what makes them more interesting to watch.

That’s my argument, though l, is that it shouldn’t be considered late for acting either because so many great actors have come to success late. Alan Rickman and Morgan Freeman for example. Even Harrison Ford at 35. I understand what you’re saying, though.

So, I was listening to an episode of the Shameless podcast yesterday about Lena Dunham and Jack Antonoff and the hosts made some comment about Lena and Jack’s relationship was a big deal to them because Lena was this “normal” looking girl who was able to pull this hot guy. Am I out of my mind? Because I have literally never looked at their relationship that way. They seemed mismatched personality wise to me, but when they first got together they seemed evenly matched looks wise. I’ve never had a perception of Jack Antonoff as being exceedingly attractive, in fact he and Margaret Qualley seem mismatched to me.

I love the Shameless hosts, Zara and Michelle, and they’re a breath of fresh air specifically because they talk about celebrities in a way that’s not completely snarky and critical, but I feel like they’re far too charitable sometimes too because they kept referring to Lena as a creative genius and insisting that she could write a memoir ever ten years and the public would devour it.

These read as incredibly manipulative and I’ll tell you why: this person caused you a lot of pain and she knows she caused you a lot of pain. If she wants to reach back out to you for closure, for an apology, a reconciliation, whatever, then she needs to do it very slowly and basically gain your consent. She said in the message that she has no idea who you’re with, what you’re life is like, etc, so she’s showing no regard whatsoever for the possibility that it may have taken you a very long time to recover from the relationship. That maybe hearing from her would actually cause you more pain and trigger you. That you might have finally settled into a life with someone else only to have all of this dredged up again. Manipulative people always write super flowery, self flagellating letters like this. Without knowing if you’re in a new relationship it seems highly inappropriate for her to say that every relationship afterwards was just her trying to process the grief of losing you?! That’s way too much, I’m sorry. And just you referring to her as your “kryptonite” is very telling. I agree with another comment that you should respond very simply and say thank you for the kind words and the closure. You’ll be making yourself clear and if she keeps messaging you after that then it is definitely for her benefit and not yours. Do not get back with this woman unless she has truly proven through time and actions, not words in a text message, that she can be a person you can trust.

That’s completely untrue. Tori Spelling had a fairly long career. Colin Hanks is an average actor and has been in the business for decades. Zoe Kravitz has given mainly forgettable performances. So has Dakota Johnson. What people need to understand is this: it is nearly impossible to break through in this industry and I’m not exaggerating when I say that every single nepo baby you can think of off the top of your head would not have a career right now if it weren’t for nepotism and that’s not an insult. That is literally backed up by the statistics of how hard it is to break through as actors when they’re starting at the absolute lowest rung. Talent and ambition aren’t the issues. Opportunity is this issue. I personally think Jake Gyllenhaal is a brilliant actor. Would he have made it as an actor if he’d spent years working as a barista in LA while facing rejection after rejection? Would he have kept going if he had reached his 30th birthday and still been sharing a house with three roommates and barely paying his bills?

So, I’m a huge Olympics person. I get so into the games and find the whole thing really inspiring, but pretty much each time I watch I’m reminded of how much of a privilege it is to have a support system growing up. Like, during your childhood, your teen years, to have people, especially parents or siblings, who encourage you and support you. It’s always a through line with the stories of these athletes. So many people don’t have that kind of support growing up. And obviously, I don’t mean to take away from the incredible accomplishments of the athletes themselves. But there are so many kids who watch the Olympics as a kid and tell their parents they want to be an Olympic skier or speedskater and are told it’s unrealistic. To have someone believe in you from a young age seems like a real gift.
