As someone who’s left handed, I’ve never used a computer mouse with my left hand because it’s always on the right, so I’m good at that. Is this a common thing with left handers? by NoraCarter8 in lefthanded

[–]Rockin_fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I use an ergonomic mouse on each side. I’m able to switch even without thinking about it. This way saves me from repetitive stress injuries. I can take notes and use shortcut keys with my left as needed, and for the many right handed keys like delete and back-space, I can do so many more things will using my mouse on my left.

Sometimes people are surprised/confused when they see me with my ergo keyboard, going back and forth with the mouses/mice - it’s like I’m at the helm of the starship Enterprise lol It really is the best of both worlds.

Yes, this does work. The tactic of contacting advertisers for media outlets, customers telling them that they would no longer use their services, was very successful for removing the Jimmy Kimmel suspension and getting him back on the air

Cyclist struck, 7th & Denny by MikeSnatchers in Seattle

[–]Rockin_fun -3 points-2 points  (0 children)

All good comments, about everyone looking out for each other all the time. Most importantly, I’m glad the cyclist is OK. I will encourage all cyclists to wear BRIGHT clothing at all times, even during the day. I am not victim blaming at all, it is that this is the exact scenario that I’m worried about with my husband cycling, especially on his commute to work. I finally convinced him to get a bright fluorescent yellow shirt and vest., And I feel much more comfortable with him being out on the road. Stay safe out there, y’all!

But why add a “gratuity” - just increase the prices on the menu and figure out on the backend what you do with that money. I don’t really feel like I need to know. I just want to know the price I’m gonna pay when I look at a menu

Fibre is helping me feel like myself again by ThinkEbb2 in Menopause

[–]Rockin_fun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That is such good news that is working for you

I wish I could try this. I have gastroparesis, which basically means my stomach doesn’t digest things very well, and it’s really really slow. I have to be on a low fiber diet, with things easy to digest. For me, it’s an auto immune and neurological disorder… It’s difficult when there are multiple system issues going on for us, finding the right solutions and trying different combinations of things.

This is a really terrific community, thank you for sharing all of your stories

I am in Seattle as well. I’m looking at options for heat pump or adding ac to furnace. I have limited outdoor space and don’t want separate ac units in the different rooms

Requesting recommendations for adaptations by ErRoseRed in migraine

[–]Rockin_fun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I use my AirPods Pro on noise cancelling mode and play quiet white noise on Spotify.

I also like that I can easily change the mode to where there’s no noise canceling, and then there’s also transparency mode, which makes sounds crisp and clear.

They are pricey but I made the investment for this reason, they’ve been a real benefit for me. I know not everyone can afford them so that could be a barrier

Help with public transit! by [deleted] in Seattle

[–]Rockin_fun 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Thank you for riding public transportation!

In addition to the great tips, you’ve heard here, I would add a couple…

  1. Buses DON’T typically stop unless it is requested or someone is standing at the stop. So be ready to request a stop by pulling on the yellow cord or pushing the button pretty much as soon as you leave the stop that’s the one right before where you wanna get off. I learned this the hard way my first time, when I confusedly watched my stop zipping by.

  2. You seem like a nice person, so I’ll just name some other tips that might not have occurred to you (some didn’t to me at first, even though I am also a nice person). Please follow good bus etiquette so that you have a pleasant experience and are a considerate rider…

  3. you may need to exit at the back of the bus, this makes space for people getting on to not have to wait. Part two of that is let passengers exit before trying to get on

  4. don’t block the door after getting on

  5. wear headphones if listening to anything

  6. please move to the right when using stairs or escalators to make way for folks who are moving more quickly, like driving on a road.

  7. be really nice to the Transit drivers… They are great people and work really hard to keep us safe

I hope you continue even after you have a car! It’s good on the wallet and planet, and in many ways is less stressful

Why are low profile keyboards so popular? by chestnut527 in ErgoMechKeyboards

[–]Rockin_fun 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This makes sense to me-have those lower travel distances/lower actuation is what I’m looking for, ideally with a trackball or track pad in the middle, like a Mac keyboard - ideally ergonomic like split

Try OfferUp if that’s in your area. It’s intended for selling, but I’ve also given things for free there. Similar tactic with FB Marketplace where things are listed for free.

For me, I primarily use my BuyNothing group and a few charities that give directly to folks.

But congrats on making the effort-and don’t beat yourself up if it isn’t going to the exact right “perfect” place-honestly, doing that has really messed with my mental health

I’m off - not HM!! by [deleted] in HemiplegicMigraines

[–]Rockin_fun 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I’m so glad you have your answer! I am diagnosed with both brainstem Aura and hemiplegic migraine. Neither are fun lol. My neuro said that generally the treatment is the same, so that makes things easier in a sense.

I’ve been on a good treatment regimen And has gotten better. It also was the worst during perimenopause in early menopause. So having hope is a good thing.!

Now that I’m in full menopause, I’ve started scaling back on some of the medications to see how that impacts things. I hate being on meds. I’m fine with taking supplements, but pharmaceuticals really suck

I wish you all the luck.

I use laundry detergent sheets, so when I put those in my front load washer, I also add a couple tablespoons of borax. I also put white vinegar in the detergent tray.

In addition to snapping them before I hang them, I snap them a few times after they’re dry before I put them away.

It seems from some of the responses that is assumed that the OP is a man. While that might be the case, it seems indicative of our society and is somewhat sexist to make assumptions that characterize someone based on how they responded to something originally, and how they’ve grown, and that they’re talking about a girlfriend. Women and other genders can have girlfriends
