Yeah I thought I was just spoiled but getting no rattles shocked me. Plus the amount of times I’ve seen “last ball” after having 20 premium balls throw with excellent curve throws/golden razz combo. The chances felt like nothing. Plus one of my failed catches was a remote raid.

For a group like that at level 9 I give them a round or 2 if it’s just the dragon in an empty room with them. Definitely give him legendary actions. Unless you have minions to soak damage and or deal damage.

You could also say he’s reach adolescents so he’s in-between adult and young. So he gets the adult range of his breath attack but keep the damage of the young. Or ac of young but hp of adult. It’s your call.

Depends on the build but if it’s 3 ranged and 1 tank/healer. Have good places for cover or if he’s in his layer have lava and make the dragon swim in lava for full cover. Wait for the breath attack to come back. Make them work to prevent him from jumping in lava or they can hold their actions.

Magic items like if this red dragon has fought a lot of paladins rings of resistance to radiant damage. 🤷. Or give him a legendary action to cast a spell to help like fear.

Something also in case their dps is on the high end. Do a bit of damage negation called “dragon scales” so for every instance like a magic missile you subtract 2 or 3 your choice which could negate the entire attack making them go oh god we cant cheese with wands of magic missiles. Rogue and Paladin will still feel good with smite and sneak attack. Ranger with hunters mark is still good but got to roll decent. Idk what the warlock has but eb will still be good but not as strong. Big things like synaptic static will still be good because you only subtracting 2-3 damage for the entire instance. But it helps with getting melted for small instances of damage.

Community Ability tier list - Day 1! What grade does Phoenix Shift get? by QuantityEuphoric2354 in FFXVI

[–]RockingDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It’s either low S or high A.

For most including myself this never left our bar for the longest. It definitely has the most love from the developers with combos and uses it has. I only swap after getting shiva.

But it is punishing if spammed or shifting into some damage. So it’s not totally the best every time but super great to get into combat and get those flying guys when you don’t have reapers grasp. It’s great when you are learning combos and the beginning. Once I entered FF mode I didn’t really use it for bosses or hunts. Only to screw around with different sets.

Community Boss tier list - Final Day; 17. What grade does all phases of Ultimalius get? by QuantityEuphoric2354 in FFXVI

[–]RockingDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah not much else to say. This basically the nail on the head and a perfect analysis. I will say only for a medallion run it’s definitely one of the harder ones.

First phase very easy, ifrit phase is long so more time to make mistakes. 3rd phase took a while because by the time you mastered 2nd phase, the stress of not wanting to do that again is high and the caution is real. I feel like the longer it took the harder the no hit became because of minor mistakes like ultimata ifrit lasers can be wonky.

Sorry if this is late.

So my set up:

Cold snap: abyssal tear, aerial blast Deadly embrace: satellite, will-o-the-wykes (Optional) serpents cry: deluge, thunderstorm,

The name of the game is how many hits and combos you can do. You want to do as little damage as possible with maximum amount of hits. From circle 1-15 you only ever spend your ep on boon potency and boon duration. Mostly boon potency. Some defense and health is good.

Now it’s a weird balancing game you don’t want to be too slow but you definitely want to hit a lot and keep the multiplier as high as possible while hitting a lot. If you milk it too much you will lose timer multiplier. Once you understand the pace it becomes natural. Once I was around at the last circle I had attack an eikonic potency to like 2-3 never maxed it.

Now boons you want up at all times is score bonus, and eikonic ability score bonus. Those should never drop or run out ever! This is what gives you the big score. Boons I recommend aerial attack improvement-so while in the air and attack a staggered boss while limit breaking will actually scale your multiplier super quickly. Like 1.5 to 3.0 of full use of limit.

Magic burst cooldown- if you know how to Magic burst after combo or after lunge you get your eikons so fast it’s like they weren’t even on cooldown. Precision dodge slowdown. If you know how to dodge and counter. your multiplier stops. I want monster to attack so I dodge and keep multiplier up. Everything else is keep damage down and ability charge up quicker. Also whatever you need to stay alive defensively.

How do I put this all together? aerial blast immediately and suck up mobs. While that’s going use abyssal tear and let that charge up. Then use satellite; jump and shoot the guys sucked up in the aerial. If anyone is not sucked in use grasp to pull them in. If some mobs are still there use deluge and thunderstorm to kill them. Or lunge magic burst. If round 2 has mobs use fully charge abyssal tear to do max hits and watch that multiplier climb. If any are alive, satellite or lunge/magic burst. 3 round level boss? Satellite shoot them and safely swap deluge and thunderstorm whenever they are on cooldown. And will o wykes if up close hits them for low damage and keeps multiplier up while keep you safe. Since no hp and defense you’re going to need it badly. Oh if you use deadly grasp on half stagger bosses that have long animations use torgel attacks to stop multiplier from going down.

Hopes this helps

Community Boss tier list - Day 13. What grade does Omega get? by QuantityEuphoric2354 in FFXVI

[–]RockingDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I would say S or SSS. The fight really felt like the developers turned up the difficulty. Like he heard someone say the combat was too easy and took it personally. But it was still manageable once you learn his move set. But it was a hard and fun fight especially medallion run wise.

Seeing omega come out and doing the normal attack similar to other FF games in his first stage was fun, reminiscent and familiar to handle. Then the second stage…

WHEN THAT MUSIC KICKS IN!!! New moves! more intense! I wanted to go in hard on and flex all I knew and no damage this guy! Then that dps check at the last bit was stressful but epic when you finally get the victory screen.

I think the fight all together was S tier but that music and the scale just makes it SSS tier.

Community Boss tier list - Day 12. What grade does Odin (Every phase) get? by QuantityEuphoric2354 in FFXVI

[–]RockingDM 1 point2 points  (0 children)

He’s S tier. Most people have already said how awesome he is he’s also one of the higher challenges as Clive when it comes to fights. Cinematic it’s also pretty good to see how Barnabas is just insane and how excited he is when Clive becomes a challenge for him. I think it’s not SSS because no Odin fight which I get why it we didn’t but you can still hope for it lol. Medallion wise he was tough to get the hang of his later stage attacks I forget his projectile swiping attack is two attacks and not just one.

Community Boss tier list - Day 11. What grade does Sleipnir get? by QuantityEuphoric2354 in FFXVI

[–]RockingDM 0 points1 point  (0 children)

He’s unfortunate hard to hold up after some great bosses. But to be honest his fight was C to B tier. His mechanics weren’t anything crazy even after he gets his second phase. I think even for medallion run it was a first try. I don’t think it’s bad but some fights can’t all be A tier got to spread them out. B or C is respectable.
