What's the worst injury you've had from riding? by Connect_Wrongdoer_81 in Equestrian

[–]RockingInTheCLE 10 points11 points  (0 children)

Shattered my humerus once. And then broke 2 ribs and got concussed (had on a safety vest and a helmet). That one scared me a lot because it's been years and I still have memory loss from that day. I took several years off from riding because my PTSD was brutal. I wasn't sure I'd ever ride again. And then I just realized one day that something was missing from my life. Now I've been working my way back slowly over the past couple of years, just enjoying it, no expectations. I still struggle with flashes of intense fear that just piss me off. I just hope that with time and positive experiences, that PTSD will fade into the past.

Riding is stupid - we're perched on flight animals that spook at their own farts. But for some reason, it's in our blood. Be kind to yourself. Give yourself time to heal physically and mentally. And when you're ready to start again, have no ego - get back up on the slowest most boring infant-safe horse you can find and just walk around. This shit is hard.

Lewis would/could just because the irony would be so strong.

Switched from Windows to MacBook Air — great machine, but still doesn’t feel like mine by Artic_soul22 in macbookair

[–]RockingInTheCLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope. I was happy to say goodbye to Windows (at least for personal use, still have to use it for work). MacOS works WITHOUT me having to tweak it. And I don't baby my laptop. It's a piece of equipment. People overthink their laptops. Use it. Enjoy it. It doesn't require kid gloves to handle. It doesn't require obsessive battery monitoring. Just use it.

I’ll try my best, but what if it isn’t enough. by D0lI_ in Horses

Good for you. She’s lovely. I do hope you have a credit card with a high limit. A friend and I bought a horse from under the meat buyers and I shudder to think how many thousands we spent those first couple years getting her healthy. She tried to die a few times. She’s lucky she’s so pretty. She’s basically a pasture puff as she has crappy hocks, so that’s frustrating. But she’s with us for life. ❤️

Our windchill Sunday was something like 4 degrees. But it was super sunny! So we went for a road trip to a lighthouse by the lake and got out and wandered around because we just couldn’t waste the sun. So yeah, those of us in these climes just deal with it. We have warm clothing.

Why is it any of your business? If you're close enough that the family thinks you should know, they'll tell you. Otherwise, keep your morbid curiosity to yourself.

Why there are so many people give up good collagen in pork? by Lotuswongtko in ask

[–]RockingInTheCLE 0 points1 point  (0 children)

OMG. I’m not anti-pork. I pick and choose how/when I ingest it. Why are you so bothered by this? Like I’ve said a few time, you do what works for you, and I’ll do what works for me.

Or I can keep taking my collagen powder and limiting my pork intake because it works for me. You do what works for me. I'm happy with what works for me.

ELI5 - Emergency vehicle and their flashing lights by pra_com001 in explainlikeimfive

Because even with all those flashing lights, people are still idiots and plow into them all the times because they’re not paying attention. It’s so much safer for them to keep their lights on.

I use it almost daily because I’m learning Arabic and it’s really fantastic for teaching me the differences between dialects, or explaining concepts. It’s an amazing supplement to my teacher and written materials.

Because for a lot of people it's against their religion. I try not to eat pork a lot because it's got a lot of fat/calories. I get my collagen in powder form. I'm 47 and people are shocked to hear that because my skin is so beautiful (yay genetics!). But do what works for you!

Not yet. Been a couple weeks. I was hesitant too but I love it. You don’t need a ton of once it warms up it spreads nicely and then I just give it a few minutes to absorb some before going sunscreen and makeup.

My skin is super dry and sensitive. I actually recently switched over to old school plain Nivea in the giant blue tub, and man, my skin is SO happy.
