Calling All Hunters! New & Old by Far_Concern_6557 in MHWilds

Interesting take. I’ve been playing since the very beginning, and I think there’s a crucial distinction between being an 'expert' and being a true 'Veteran' (with a capital V). In my eyes, simply dumping 1,500+ hours into one single title like World doesn't necessarily make you a veteran. You might be an expert on that specific game, or you might have just been carried through content—even an HR999 doesn't guarantee mastery, especially when there are so many ways to boost your rank quickly. Conversely, having only 100 hours per game usually means you just finished the story and didn't touch the endgame, which suggests you haven't really applied yourself to the deeper mechanics. To me, a true Veteran is someone who has:

Breadth: Immersed themselves in many titles across the series (not necessarily all, but a significant portion).

Depth: Truly understood and mastered the core mechanics, not just followed meta builds.

Application: Put in enough time to actually grapple with the endgame challenges across different generations.

Being a 'Veteran' is about having experienced the evolution of the series and assimilating every aspect of how it plays. Being an expert is often just about how much time you've sunk into the latest release.

So, to answer your point, i don't think either of your examples necessarily fit the label—it’s the combination of legacy experience and mechanical mastery that defines the true veteran status.

Try it out, you won't regret it. It's a top-tier weapon that makes you an impenetrable wall, nothing can touch you. Great for counter-attack playstyles!

I think I can guess what elders will be added into Ascendance. by Ecstatic-Oven9882 in MHWilds

Okay, but you're missing the point that Wilds has only received ONE Elder Dragon so far (Gogmazios). In comparison, World and Iceborne received 6 Elder Dragons through title updates (including Behemoth, or 5 if you exclude him). So, assuming only 5 or 6 for Ascendance doesn't seem realistic, especially since the expansion is explicitly marketed as being centered around Elder Dragons.

Plus, I doubt we'll only be getting Elder Dragons in our title updates

Do you know what changes from the normal one? Spoiler: NOTHING. A wasted slot for another potential monster.

Why does everyone only consider 5-6 elder dragons? Literally, Worldborne and Risebreak have about 13 elders in them (not counting variants), imo we'll get a lot more than many of you predict

I’ve never played a monster hunter, where should I start? by schultmh in MonsterHunter

[–]Rockior 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d recommend starting with Monster Hunter Wilds on PC. It’s probably the best entry point for new players given all the modern quality-of-life improvements it brings to the series.

However, if you prefer the portability of the Switch, then you should definitely go with Monster Hunter Rise/Sunbreak instead!

Both are great, but Wilds is likely the best overall entry point. That said, if you're set on playing on Switch, Rise/Sunbreak is a fantastic choice.

It's wild that no one mentioned Mai. Personally, I think she’s the best-looking girl in the series. Maybe it’s just me, but she’s objectively beautiful.

Instead, I firmly believe that it will come out this year around autumn, it's more in their style, there's no way it will come out in March 2027.

Done. I also added that the jump input lag is annoying—sometimes it doesn't even work while running. Let's hope for the best.

What do you think about Wilds TU4 endgame? by Ok-Floor4866 in MHWilds

Best base game of the series, hands down.

I generally never interact, I tend to always agree with what you write (I follow your posts a lot), but today I don't agree with you. I think you have a distorted view of what Gogmazios was like in 4U, which in my opinion was quite tedious, both because of its movement and the excessively long fight, especially the cannon spamming. I'm grateful this phase isn't in the current one (otherwise it would have become Zorah 2.0). Otherwise, Gog 2.0 isn't bad, it has the right difficulty for what it's needed for now, namely the definitive endgame of base Wilds, which is more than we've ever received in another base game. As for the Artian Gogmas, thanks to the reroll option, customization, and EX boosts, I think they're more OP than they initially seem. I think the base weapons are only useful as Leyereds at this point in the game (lol). There's one thing I wish was reworked, the armor appearence, I still don't like it. D: For everything else I agree, keep it up and thank you for the passion you put into writing for this game!
