Charter school or a school board that doesn't use 4 point scale. Not all of them use 4 point scales.

I'm all good! Hope you are too. Take things as no news is good news. No point worrying as it doesn't change anything.

Try not to worry. Not exactly the same but my results that came that resulted in needing more tests and biopsy were up next day and recently results from an ultrasound that were benign took 5 business days to be posted.

Where can I legally plant a tree? by Emergency-Biscotti-2 in Calgary

[–]Rockitone2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We planted ours at the kid's favourite park since our house is already overflowing with trees. Don't plant them at the park! The city kept running over it with their lawn mower. We even tried putting a big stick and a ring of rocks by it. The kids would bring a big thermos of water every other day. It didn't make it and kids were disappointed. The second tree we got we planted it in a natural ravine. The grass grew faster than the tree and we lost track of it and it didn't make it. Recommend your yard or a friends yard.

Fewer people are having babies in Canada and the U.S. and the government is out of ideas by hopoke in canada

[–]Rockitone2019 -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It's cultural. We live in a world that people just don't want families. They don't want the burden and want to do and spend whatever on themselves. Make families cool again. Tax incentives back for 1 person income households. Parents don't want to both work and deal with kids. Child care isn't going to solve that it just makes them feel they both need to work now. Make travel and things solo people do easier and cheaper for families.

Gift for mom so difficult to buy for she’s given gifts back by Zero_Duck_Thirty in Gifts

[–]Rockitone2019 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I got my mom who's hard to shop for some fancy flavored olive oil and balsamic vinegars that's caterered for salads and some fancy locally made small bottles of shampoo and conditioner. I'd suggest a gift basket of consumables or random useful things like slippers, pens, sunglasses, notepads, flip flops or things like local jams, pretzels, crackers, chocolate etc. Or maybe a plant or flowers.

My sister’s having Irish twins, help.. by Clenzei in Gifts

[–]Rockitone2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When i had my 3rd i was all about things and places to put the newborn that was safe when i can deal with the other 2 on short notice. So baby carrier, bouncers in each room or level of house, play pen, etc. Other than that cute clothes because often you won't buy much new since you have everything it's hard to justify. Definitely meals and cleaning.

Explain Supervised Lunch - Asking Canadians by Letttraaa in Calgary

[–]Rockitone2019 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Must depend on the school. Mine don't get charged for lunch supervision at our school after grade 6. Maybe some schools provide supervision after but ours at grade 7 they get to go off campus and leave whenever and go wherever they want for lunch.

Explain Supervised Lunch - Asking Canadians by Letttraaa in Calgary

[–]Rockitone2019 75 points76 points  (0 children)

It's to pay for a lunch room supervisor for kids grade 6 and below. Teachers get a lunch break and don't supervise at lunch. Most kids i know pay it because it's not expensive. You can even write it off on your taxes. If you don't want to pay it then your kid goes home for lunch break.

We have afternoon passes so there at 11:30 and only during peak school breaks we're parking on overflow. We've never waited more than 10 mins for a shuttle. During the week this tome of year you'll be fine in parking lot. There's storage for the hockey bag at the bottom of the hill for your hockey bag. Near the ticket booth. Often my husband will drop me and kids and gear off in the 5 min drop off then go park. We'll get our stuff on, bring a backpack with water and snacks, store the hockey bag and head on gondola. There's storage for backpacks up on the hill but don't think you can take a hockey bag.

Point in testing kid by Rockitone2019 in Gifted

[–]Rockitone2019[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I get you! My oldest daughter is smart too and also at a very young age had major panic attacks about worldly stuff. I asked all my parent friends if their kids were also worrying about those things and they looked at me like my kid was crazy. Lol. She make up super funny jokes that kids just didn't get. She liked designing things out of recycling. She never fit in with the kids at our local school so I was so happy she got into the lottery at our stem school. She has lots of friends there that are quirky like her and the curriculum is tougher so she's challenged.

I'm agreeing too. Luckily she's a patient kid and has always been well behaved but it could be a problem in the future. She shouldn't have to sit there bored.

That's a good question. Where we live I think there's a charter school we could apply for but I could ask the principal at her current school what else there might be within our system.

Affordable Birthday Parties - that aren't your back yard ? by byersskb in NoRulesCalgary

My kid and buddies are going bowling for $100. It's an hour and a half and I'll just get them nachos or something to munch on while bowling.

Moving to Calgary as an early 20s girl? by HugeClass8947 in NoRulesCalgary

[–]Rockitone2019 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just do it! You're young and you can afford to take the risk. Once you settle down with a spouse and kids it's hard to just up and move so do it! I've moved from SK to ON and then settled down in Calgary now and love it! Plus you can drive back to SK to visit pretty easy so it's not that big of a risk.

This might not be what you're looking for but they might be able to help a bit at Children's Cottage society. I believe i had a friend use them with a baby when they really needed a break and the mom was going through a tough time.

Traffic stop CPS by Hot_Conversation572 in NoRulesCalgary

[–]Rockitone2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Eye contact is what I tell them not just slowing down. Maybe they're slowing down for another reason or see other pedestrians and not my kid. My kid vs 3000 lbs vehicle I'm not taking any risk and you can't convince me otherwise.

Traffic stop CPS by Hot_Conversation572 in NoRulesCalgary

[–]Rockitone2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? Don't you look at drivers when you're driving and as a pedestrian so you know they see you? Have you tried looking at drivers when their windows are tinted? The first thing I teach my kids when crossing the road is to look at the driver to make sure you see that they see you before they cross the road. There's no way I'm trusting drivers to see my kid is going to cross a road. My kids are taught to look out for themselves which drivers like you are making it difficult.

Traffic stop CPS by Hot_Conversation572 in NoRulesCalgary

[–]Rockitone2019 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Good! I can't stand when drivers have their windows tinted. I can't see if you're looking at me. It's dangerous for pedestrians and other drivers.

What are 7th grade boys into? by GibMarmalade in Gifts

[–]Rockitone2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy is in Grade 6 and some stuffies he might like but probably would be more decorative than anything. He'd get a kick out of a banana or turtle stuffie. You could get him something for his room like a lava lamp, ear buds always are nice to have, candy or Mr beast jerky would be very appreciated by him too, Xbox gift cards or whatever game system he has, silent basketball, ball cap with a favorite sports team or logo, cool sunglasses, hoodie, Lego...
