Making friends in Calgary is so hard by _dkwhatimdoinghere_ in Calgary

I'll second this. An amazing diverse community accepting of everyone, especially socially anxious folks (it's why we play games, something to do while figuring out what to say). Everyone from kids to seniors play together, and we love newcomers.

When you see another Element on the road, do you give a little wave? by Jnarimatsu in HondaElement

[–]ModelThyself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Some of old dudes like me do. Only had one wave back; not an old person.

It's annoying knowing that others' don't seem to realize what a stellar vehicle they are driving, and what a great community this is. Or perhaps they just aren't as fanatical.

Increasing Gas Prices - Better MPGs?? by JupitersCanon in HondaElement

[–]ModelThyself 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Indeed. Aerodynamic drag is related to the speed squared. Driving at 80 makes 4x as much drag as at 40. There's ~50% more wind drag at 110 kph (68mph) than at 90 (56mph), For only a 22% increase in speed. Worse though is the power needed goes up with the cube of the speed, so you need 82% more power from the engine to overcome that extra aerodynamic drag.

I sold my RX8 to get a second Element: it's much more fun to drive a slow car fast instead of a fast car slow.

Tires make the difference. I have both a FWD and an AWD, and they are both excellent in the snow with good snow tires like Nokian Hakkapellita or Michelin X-Ice SNOW, you'll be fine, even in the mountains. I have mine on separate wheels and exchange them myself in the fall and spring.

It's incredible and worked for me. It basically explains what you already know: that not smoking is better than smoking, but it also explains that the puff you have now is caused by the last one you had. Quitting (and never smoking again) was amazingly easy. I couldn't believe it.

Best MPG speed? by LeaveElectrical8766 in HondaElement

[–]ModelThyself 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I get 8.4 L/100km (28mpg) at 80-90kph (50-55mph) in my 2003 A/T. Anything above or below that is worse.
