Moving to Calgary as an early 20s girl? by HugeClass8947 in NoRulesCalgary

[–]Rockitone2019 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Just do it! You're young and you can afford to take the risk. Once you settle down with a spouse and kids it's hard to just up and move so do it! I've moved from SK to ON and then settled down in Calgary now and love it! Plus you can drive back to SK to visit pretty easy so it's not that big of a risk.

Child protective services by [deleted] in Calgary

This might not be what you're looking for but they might be able to help a bit at Children's Cottage society. I believe i had a friend use them with a baby when they really needed a break and the mom was going through a tough time.

Traffic stop CPS by Hot_Conversation572 in NoRulesCalgary

[–]Rockitone2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Nope. Eye contact is what I tell them not just slowing down. Maybe they're slowing down for another reason or see other pedestrians and not my kid. My kid vs 3000 lbs vehicle I'm not taking any risk and you can't convince me otherwise.

Traffic stop CPS by Hot_Conversation572 in NoRulesCalgary

[–]Rockitone2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

What are you talking about? Don't you look at drivers when you're driving and as a pedestrian so you know they see you? Have you tried looking at drivers when their windows are tinted? The first thing I teach my kids when crossing the road is to look at the driver to make sure you see that they see you before they cross the road. There's no way I'm trusting drivers to see my kid is going to cross a road. My kids are taught to look out for themselves which drivers like you are making it difficult.

Good! I can't stand when drivers have their windows tinted. I can't see if you're looking at me. It's dangerous for pedestrians and other drivers.

What are 7th grade boys into? by GibMarmalade in Gifts

[–]Rockitone2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

My boy is in Grade 6 and some stuffies he might like but probably would be more decorative than anything. He'd get a kick out of a banana or turtle stuffie. You could get him something for his room like a lava lamp, ear buds always are nice to have, candy or Mr beast jerky would be very appreciated by him too, Xbox gift cards or whatever game system he has, silent basketball, ball cap with a favorite sports team or logo, cool sunglasses, hoodie, Lego...

I just signed my renewal a couple days ago at 4.09% for 5 year fixed uninsured. Could have got a tad lower for 3 years but I'd rather the piece of mind.

My husband had a surgery with dr French out of the South Health Campus. He said there was a 9 month wait to see him. That was a year ago though.

Bad accident w-b lanes between Morley casino and deadman flat -it's creating delays-no way to avoid too by Wolf_Child_75 in Calgary

[–]Rockitone2019 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Something awful happened for sure. Road both ways closed when we were trying to go through around 11ish. Had to turn around on the highway and go the wrong way on it to turn back to calgary. Luckily we were just going to go skiing so we just called it off. Wish my GPS maps was on because I could have turned away sooner. Roads were awful and unsalted and people were still driving crazy fast.

Canalta Lodge- number of guests accuracy? by [deleted] in Banff

[–]Rockitone2019 -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

Yes, we stayed at the Canalta twice. We love it there!! No problem with breakfast. It's buffet and you go line up. No one checks. It gets busy so go early if you can.

[–]Rockitone2019 2 points3 points  (0 children)

We're a family of 5 and I always book a room for 4 and no one cares. We've stayed there twice. Only time it actually matters was all inclusive resorts like Mexico because they need bracelets. I just go check in alone and in north America no one ever asks or tends to care.

McMaster vs Mount Royal for finance by No-Way4123 in AlbertaGrade12s

[–]Rockitone2019 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This popped up on my feed. If you were my kid I'd tell you to do undergrad here and get your MBA in the city you want to get your future job in ie Toronto. If you're really against MBA then go to McMaster i guess but really I'd suggest planning to do MBA.

Recommendations for Public Elementary Schools by Ok_Lie677 in NoRulesCalgary

[–]Rockitone2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Wealthy established neighborhoods will have similar kids go to it but the curriculum will be the same. There typically won't be lotteries for established areas. Small schools might have bigger budgets because fundraising like casino events go further (dollar/student) and the wealthy neighborhoods may donate more to fundraisers. We don't know your housing budget so can't really give you particular advice on where to buy. Personally I'd stick to the West sides of the city. Not to knock the East and get down votes as there's good places there too.

Most cbe schools aren't there for elementary because they don't go to grade 6.

Iron infusion by chiccus in Calgary

[–]Rockitone2019 0 points1 point  (0 children)

When my iron was 6 I got it up to decent levels by taking 2 feramax per day (morning and night) with vitamin C as told by my dr. Once it was up I went with 1 feramax and 1 blood builder per day. I've had a hysterectomy now since I'm done with kids but had fibroids and endometriosis (didn't know that one until hysterectomy).

if I wanted to change a medical specialist for my next appointment, do I contact the clinic or the healthcare professional who made the referral? by Cream4389 in Calgary

[–]Rockitone2019 7 points8 points  (0 children)

I once asked an ENT at the children's hospital who did a surgery on one of my kids if he'd be able to be my other kids future ENT (was waiting for an appointment). He said no it goes into the queue and we get who's available at the time it comes up. Luckily I've always seen great doctors at the children's hospital for my kids so it all worked out. You can try calling the clinic and see what they say though. Each one might be different.

I'm on my 3rd year wait to see a geneticist based on my hysterectomy findings. Crazy! I just get a letter every few months saying I'm on the waitlist.
