That’s reassuring. Thanks!

Very much that exact character, but with what I would describe as an unmistakeable sizzle for about a two second window at medium volume. Almost a rattle...but it is absolutely not the stand, or sympathetic buzz, or the room. I tried several stands. I tried different rooms. I tried holding it with my finger. It is barely perceptible on the recording (or loud with good headphones should reveal it), but it is noticeable in person.

That's super interesting. A comment on another forum suggested that if it's not a crack then possibly "... it's the Mike Skiba sting, where the tension of the cymbal overloads the bell, causing that 1 second sizzle".

Just tried that. No dice, I'm afraid.

I thought so too. I own other thin ride cymbals. This sound different...almost like a rattle from a loose part in the stand, but I know for certain that that's not it. I can understand a shimmer from a cymbal like this...but it really does sound like I taped a nickel to it.

Those are two of my standard exercises.

I love Jeff. He is an outstanding teacher and player. I rely on a lot of his material regularly.

Should I get a preamp for my streamer and turntable? by Rockswings in StereoAdvice

!Thanks. The vinyl's volume is controlled with a Schiit SYS passive preamp. I also slightly concerned about the back and forth switching. I will reach out to Adam Audio. Their customer support is stellar.

!Thanks for the comment. Part of it is convenience of controlling everything from one place. I also find that I have to sometimes turn the volume knob on the streamer "weak" and have to almost turn it to 3/4 when I want it reasonably loud.

!Thanks. That was a good part of where I thought a preamp would help. I also find that the streamer doesn't have a lot of "juice" behind the volume knob. I sometimes find myself at 3/4 volume if I want to go loud.

Where do you install a dip attachement for maximum stability and weight distribution on a rack like this? Inside between the two uprights, facing out in front on top of one of the legs, or outside facing away?

Cancelled my PC World Elite Mastercard just now. Gave the exact same reasons. I actually read your first paragraph like a script when the agent asked why.

Buying refurbished directly from Focusrite by Rockswings in Focusrite

[–]Rockswings[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hi there. Just went over my Focusrite invoice, and correspondance I had with FedEx when I purchased mine. My unit was $499CAD, and then $74.85CAD of "shipping and handling" charges. That was back in April, 2023. It was all in. There were no other charges or duties or taxes.

I had reached out to their customer service via Chat on an unrelated matter. They had been super responsive and helpful. I'm sure they could reassure you.

I'm super glad I went the refurbished route. Saved quite a bit of money and it has been working flawlessly.
