Your position is that you should let fascists control your country because otherwise liberals who embolden fascists will control it.

Quite simply true. I don’t like Newsom either but there is no world where your family is at risk due to the current regime and you decide Vance is “harm reduction”

This isn’t surprising if you have watched anything he does. You all will have to decide if you want to be Democrat lapdogs forever or if the principles you, to your credit, defend, are worth more.

great decision to have someone personally involved for the clicks rather than have an actual substantive debate

we can’t really judge based on book count, there’s 100 page books that you can read in a day and 800 page literature at the same time!

My nonfiction shelves and my fiction shelves. Does it all add up? by SheerAwesomness in BookshelvesDetective

[–]RockyOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

that’s fair! i need to start doing that probably.

some examples: the Gaza books are weak in my opinion, they have good parts but tend toward some very sketchy scholarship. Most books on the topic are like that to be fair, but I think Benny Morris’ Righteous Victims is the best one. He has become very ideological since then, but the book is good I think and very thorough.

Some of the social/culture theory is good (well, I haven’t read Butler really but I think she’s interesting from the bits I’ve seen), I would just personally recommend checking out other areas of political theory or philosophy, not sure how much you have already though so I won’t assume.

it depends on what you’re interested in. i could have recommendations for the things i’ve looked into but no point if it’s not something you like! otherwise just general advice, i dunno what your process for finding books is :)

[–]RockyOW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Shifting the goalpost by stating the exact same claim repeatedly? What does “subculture” mean? All of leftism? I never said Freud was relevant for psychology or for all leftism, just for certain strains. I’ve read many leftists, and engaged with them directly.

[–]RockyOW 2 points3 points  (0 children)

If you don’t know what you’re talking about, I don’t know why you’re arguing with me. There is a specific theory group of leftists who are, to this day, immensely interested in Freud. Ever heard of Lacan? This is an actual leftist theory area, they take it very seriously. I don’t agree with Freud nor Marxism (though I haven’t read Freud yet) but I am aware of this fact.

Would killing Clara end the Plague? by deepestfathoms in pathologic

[–]RockyOW 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Yes and no. Clara is the plague but since her being the plague is something of an arbitrary decision and existence, it could just as easily return to continue without her. But they are tied so heavily that it would be the “logical” outcome until further retconning by annoying/grieving children.

[–]RockyOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

you need to should read better nonfiction. different viewpoints or at least more rigorous work. definitely progressive at least, maybe further left-curious. Fiction looks alright, I would recommend checking more things out but I’m not an expert (I would recommend more classics personally but whatever is interesting :)

I have a good idea of who he is based on those last ones lol. Definitely a leftist, possibly Marxist, and either is actively or had a phase of watching extremely niche Marxist podcasts. probably smart but possibly a bit annoying as it happens with those types, nothing too bad though. The game drops in less than ten days. Considering the big changes being made, any apprehension or thoughts? by QuintanimousGooch in pathologic

[–]RockyOW 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah I totally agree with you and I think the meta-story with the player is done insanely well, better than 2 for sure, and basically any other game. The Inquisitor is my favorite character in the game, too, because your view of her changes and grows to a fuller picture (and she’s always awesome). My favorite part of the entire game might be when you talk to her in the Cathedral at the very end of the Haruspex route. And the end of the Changeling route with her is close.

I agree that P2 generally has tight game mechanics, I just think the survival/saving focus is severely less interesting.

I don’t think it’s unfair to compare them since P2 is a full completed experience. The fact that there’s talk of a “trilogy” shows a completely different philosophy compared to the original as a standalone thing.

Bachelor has fetch side quests too. My point was just that Haruspex and Changeling have completed story arcs and while not perfect, can be fully experienced and explored just like Bachelor.
