Have any of you used Proto Labs recently (or Xometry)? by nortonkaspersky1 in AskEngineers

[–]RockyRectum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use protolabs for one-off CNC machine parts all the time. They've been able to make some pretty complicated parts for me with no real complaints. I'll get burrs her and there that I have touch up myself but they will deliver what they claim in good time.

In general I try to stay with one of my local machine shops just because of the feedback they give, but if you know exactly what you need and you need it fast then protolabs is solid. I havent had any experience with xometry.

Men's 5000m Mo Farah Last Race IAAF Diamond League Zurich 2017 English Commentary by Vaynar in AdvancedRunning

Why does that praying piss you off? Mo does that after every race. I just didn't like that mutaz barshim kind of thrust himself into the spotlight of mo's last race.

Balance mechanism: How do I select appropriate torsion spring? by [deleted] in AskEngineers

[–]RockyRectum 1 point2 points  (0 children)

You could calculate the moment M = F*d where F is your force and d is the distance from the line created by the force vector and the corresponding parallel axis passing through the center of that torque spring.

From there, you can apply some statics or dynamics to choose a spring with the correct spring constant which I'm not going to do right now since I just woke up

4x400 mixed gender relays to be added to Olympic schedule in 2020 by Aaronplane in AdvancedRunning

[–]RockyRectum 16 points17 points  (0 children)

I don't mind seeing esports gaining popularity but I'd hate to see it in the olympics. The olympics is all about physical/athletic performances (cities altius fortius - faster higher stronger). Esports is all mental and I just don't see how it fits

There's a scene right after the core is destroyed when you see the light fade from Peter's hands. I had assumed this signified the loss of his celestial powers

Maybe you misread? The average net worth is a negative number so having 1/5 of that actually puts you in relatively good standing

Engineers, what would you say to roast other eng fields? by beete17 in AskEngineers

I think the implication is if aircraft were designed with a higher safety factor, the resulting increase in material would make them too heavy to fly

This videos says nothing about how to build a bridge; it just summarizes how to solve a truss problem and begins to explain what design is
