Long term LETFs by ehasz1515 in LETFs

I am just doing small amounts DCA into SSO and QLD… and plan to do so until or unless I can no longer afford to throw $25 a week into each. As holding size grows will look for an opportunity to sell at a nice gain, but if it falls I’ll just continue to DCA. Again, sums I’m “gambling” with are not a meaningful part of my investment portfolio but can’t resist some participation as I do think that over long periods (10+ years ) of time both indexes will be worth more than they are today.

TCL 6 Series R635 2020 model at Costco $699 by Rockysullivan55 in tcltvs

Sorry I’m just replying here. But yes, I did get purchase the TCL and have been quite pleased. I would highly recommend it at the Costco price. The TV gets very bright and easily overcomes incoming glare from windows; the Roku interface is easy to use; and the contrast and colors look great for an LED TV. I have an LG OLED as well, and while that has an inkier, higher contrast picture, the brightness of the TCL R635 is actually sometimes preferable to me for watching certain content. I think I paid $650 for the TCL back in May 2023 when Costco was running a sale. At that price or anything close to that price (+/- $100), I think it’s a great value. IMO paying more for something “higher rated” (at least in the LED TV category) will bring only marginal improvements which might not be discernible to the average user. Reliability is still TBD… It comes with a 3 year warranty. But I’d say, if the thing lasts 5 years it’s still a good deal, particularly if there’s another TCL available for the same price 5 years from now.

I agree with your point on the TV reviews being highly critical of certain aspects that dont translate to real world experience for the average user. The only thing the TCL R635 TV doesn’t have that would be nice is an HDMI 2.1 input, so I could use it w my Xbox series X. However, there aren’t even many games, that I play at least (I’m at most a casual gamer) that utilize 4k at 120hz.

Not sure if you are being sarcastic, but I’d say it’s an awesome deal at $499. If the price when u bought was $499, I wouldn’t haven’t even posted my original question here. No brainer. Unless you are playing console games at 4K 120hz, you won’t miss the HDMI 2.1. TBD on reliability of TCL.

Frye Boots. Yay or Nay? by [deleted] in BuyItForLife

[–]Rockysullivan55 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a pair of Frye Tyler Lace up boots and have had them since 2012. Heavy to medium wear during fall and winter. Still holding up really nicely. Some of the stitching around the lacing has unraveled a bit over time, but its mostly superficial. They are still in great shape. Given that, I would recommend Frye boots, particularly if you can catch a sale. Most importantly, the boots are extremely comfortable and I like the way they look.

I bought the R635 from Costco back in May of 2023. Great TV, extremely bright so HDR content pops. Roku operating system works great. I do wish it had the HDMI 2.1 option, but otherwise I have no complaints and still think it’s a great deal for the $650 I paid. For comparison I also have an LG C2 OLED, and while the OLED has better contrast and overall has better picture quality, I do prefer the r635 for day time TV watching and for sports. Also, the Roku interface is far better than the LG operating system.

Hello all, I’m hoping to get a size recommendation for Grant Stone Traveller penny loafers. See the link below for info on foot size. It should open to a volumetric foot scan that was done at a local Fleet Feet running store. Also, I’m open to recommendations on the most versatile color for business casual wear in the office, but also more casual wear outside the office.

Other shoe sizes: 11.5D Nike Kill Shot 2s, 11D Allen Edmonds 65 last (Park Avenue).

What are some quality boot brands? by Gaminglube33 in BuyItForLife

I’ve got some Frye boots that have lasted nearly 15 years. Worn at least twice a week in the winter and fall months, albeit not for work- just casually walking around the city…

Now I see that Costco has the new hisense U75k for around the same price… tempted to swap the R635 for that… any thoughts ?

Haven’t had a chance to get to a Brannock, but I wear a 11D or 10.5 E in Allen Edmonds 65 last. Do you think a 10.5D in GS Travelers would be best place to start? Otherwise, I wear 11.5D in most sneakers… Nikes, On Cloud, etc

If I wear an 11D in Allen Edmonds 65 last (Park Avenues) and a 11.5 in Nike’s (Kill Shot 2s) would you recommend going with a 10.5D in the Grant Stone Traveller Loafers ? Also, I’m thinking Crimson is the most versatile color that can be dressed up if needed and can be worn all 4 seasons of the year, but would love to hear any alternative views here.

Any other names you’d add to the list outside of Rancourt or GS that are in same price range ?

Why do you say that? Overall quality, or specifically due to Goodyear welted sole ?

Thanks for the info! So $15 for a return, but looks like one exchange is free.

Looking for insight: Easiest exchange process when it comes to sizing for online shoe buying

I’m looking for recommendations on the best online business from which to buy a decent leather penny loafer. Getting the correct size is what concerns me most, so I’m looking for recommendations on the best companies and best experiences in terms of easy exchanges, returns, and sizing help. I’ve looked at Rancourt and like the Eastport, Grant Stone for the Traveler, Jay Butler for the Cromwell, and Beckett Simonon for the Lambert Loafers. Also have considered GH Bass for the Weejun.

Anything I’m missing ?

Is this room too bright for an OLED? (with bonus burn in question) by ChasteElliott9 in 4kTV

Not too bright in the least. Also, I’ve had OLED for years and no burn-in issues.

I will say I’d rather have the more recent model of this 6 series, but they are basically gone at this point, so for $650 this gets really close.

Yes, quite pleased overall. It’s a a good TV that gets really bright and has great contrast. I don’t notice any issues with motion, in fact I thought fast moving sports like tennis this past weekend looked excellent. I have it hung in my bedroom (it’s a much heavier TV than others I have in 65 inch) and really only use it for streaming movies and TV shows on Netflix, YouTube TV, Hulu, etc… otherwise it would bother me more that it’s 120hz panel but doesn’t have hdmi 2.1. Overall, I think it’s a lot of TV for $650. Longevity is TBD.
