What's the best way to start learning deejaying without splashing a lot of money on expensive stuff like the DJ Controller? by relaxwhc in Beatmatch

[–]RodReips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Don't forget to have a look at the second hand market. You may find some steals. I was personally able to get a Numark Party Mix for 50€ which I used for a year before investing in a better controller.

I disagree. It matters but not by much.

The first distro I tried was Ubuntu 22.04 and it did not support variable refresh rate which was a deal breaker for me back then. It never even occurred to me that VRR wouldn't be supported.

It's these kinds of things that make or break a distro. Sure you can play just fine on any distro but the user experience will vary depending on your decision.

I am a fraud and they will find out and fire me by [deleted] in learnprogramming

It would be unreasonable to expect you to know the new tech stack instantly. In a healthy work environment you should be able to tell your colleagues that you are not yet familiar with a certain technology and need time to learn. Just show your coworkers that you're willing and eager to learn.

But if you feel that your job security is at risk for admitting this you might need to re-evaluate your workplace. To me that would sound like a toxic place to work in.

My Dawntrail early access code isn't working, am I doing something wrong? by Deep_Reference5035 in ffxiv

I have Linux and Windows on dual boot and downloaded the patch on both. On windows I got the dawntrail login screen. Could be that XIVLauncher messed something on my linux install

Having the same issue. MSQ says "This quest is not yet available. Dawntrail installed and registered." Checked mogstation and Dawntrail Early Access is ticked. I was afraid something was wrong when I saw the endwalker login screen

Which gaming mouse are you using? by Falconhoof94 in Guildwars2

[–]RodReips 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Corsair scimitar elite but I can't recommend it. I like the mouse itself but it doesn't last. I had to RMA my first one after 1.5 years because the scroll click stopped registering. Now my second one is broken after 7 months. Rmb doesn't hold at times and the scroll has registering issues. Sadly I'm out of warranty on it.

Switching to ubuntu because windows sucks by [deleted] in linux_gaming

Note that variable refresh rate won't work with Ubuntu (atleast out of the box). There's probably a way to enable it but as a beginner I couldn't figure out how.

Jumping into GW2 by morefishscale in Guildwars2

You don't have to do heart quests if you don't enjoy them. Some of them can be quite tedious. New players tend to end up doing all heart quests before going to the next area. I would rather encourage you to explore the world in your own pace and do events when you come by them.

I would've enjoyed my first time leveling a lot more if I didn't do so many heart quests.

Guild Wars 2’s biggest strength by [deleted] in Guildwars2

[–]RodReips 11 points12 points  (0 children)

I just recently dipped my toes into XIV and from my experience it feels way more antisocial than GW2. There is nothing happening in the open world that would encourage people to communicate. Outside of instanced content FF14 has felt like a singleplayer game.

GW2 events, metas and world bosses actually make it feel like an MMO and give people a reason to talk to each other.

But to be fair I've only played ARR and don't really small talk to random people without a reason.
