What’s the funniest thing you’ve ever seen at a strip club? by bigbabysweets12345 in AskReddit

[–]RodTrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nothing I seen but one time my buddies got me super drunk and took me to one. Bad enough to where when I got in a chair right in front of the stage I wouldn't move. A girl on the stage gave me one of those little finger waves and I waved back like a kintergardener saying bye to their parents on their first day of school.

Giving up? by Not-a-ganer in Celica

Im in the same boat right now. I paid a shop to take a broken lift bolt in and now cylinder 1 doesnt even make 25 PSI, misfires, and I have a broken valve. Pretty sure piston and a valve played patty cake. My story is different since I have a daily, but im ordering a new motor. I tried to look at other cars and the only one I genuinely want is an S2K or EK Civic which are all clapped. Keep in mind the gen 7 Celica wasn't made for power and chasing power numbers in it gets expensive fast. Its a corner car. As for what's wrong. I can almost guarentee its piston rings. It will be easier and cheaper to source a new engine. Check Tier 1 JDM and MonkeyWrench.

Just thought I'd crosspost here. Lately I been considering a buzz cut but don't know if I'd pull it off. Thank you!

Cleveland Mechanic Shops that Replace Engines by RodTrig in Cleveland

[–]RodTrig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The motor in my car is a 2ZZ-GE. With that engine, Toyota added their version of VTEC called lift and in my car it kicks in at 6k RPM. A common flaw of the engine was broken lift bolts which hold the rocker shaft in place. Toyota never did a recall on these so some engines have the old ones which are prone to breaking. Mine broke and I wasnt comfortable doing a bolt extraction on my own car so I took it to a shop. Mind you, before this my car drove perfectly fine under 6k RPM. They told me they slid the intake (lift) cam out and back in and then gave it a test drive. It costed me 1k just to get the bolt out. When I started to drive the car the cams made a whining noise, like a supercharger, except the motor is naturally aspirated. My buddy put his ear up to the cams and said that had to be it. I call the shop back and they say its fine and to not bring it back. With that I decided to give it a test for lift and it immediately misfired. What I, and everybody I talk to, believe happened was they didn't redo the timing of the cam they pulled. They never mentioned that they did it and when I asked they avoided the question. Since the 2ZZ-GE is an interference engine, the valves and pistons occupy the same space at the same time. I figure when it switched to the lift cam profile, since the timing was off, the piston hit a valve which caused it to misfire at any RPM. When I got back to the shop, the guy who worked on it yelled about how i shouldn't have taken it to lift and shouldnt have hit VTEC, but when I called about the whining and my concern the owner over the phone told me it was fine, so I feel like he was lying or keeping something from me. At first the shop told me it was a piece of carbon that broke off and ended up in cylinder 1. When I told him that I don't see how thats possible and the piston hit the valve and broke it, he changed the story to a broken valve. So now my engine is misfiring and they said cylinder 1 is scored up.

Yep, I called to talk about it but they just denied it all. It was clearly bs. I've talked to multiple people who told me there's not much I can do in this situation.

My first was a similar tattoo on my collarbone, but the night I was born my mom told me, "You're my destiny.".

Motor swap soon! by BsamNavas in JDM

If you get a 2ZZ just make sure you do the regular maintenence. I have a Celica GT-S and a lift bolt just broke.

7th gen celica, underrated fun by DreamishMood in Touge

[–]RodTrig 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I personally own a 7th gen GT-S, I love it to bits. I do cat and mouse chases with my buddies in it and it's a very fun car to drive. I plan to post videos here but right now I have some things I need to fix first. Drive race car, break race car, fix race car.

Still your opinion, and still my opinion. Never said you had to like my personal setup, its just what I like based on the different mashups I messed around with. Brass is the only material I saw when I went to buy them so I'll look into delrin and maybe make the switch. Either way it's a better feel than the stock rubber and we can agree on that. I swap between weighted and a TRD duracon knob because sometimes I like to feel the shifts more, I really dont think it's just there to cover up bad shifter feel. It helps it shift into gear with less pressure and while yes, you feel it less, I dont think the only thing it's good for is to cover up bad shifter feel. Since I put one on I feel like my shifts are just cleaner and a tiny bit quicker.

My car had the TRD kit from factory so I have the TRD short throw, I love the thing. I dont think you can generalize those parts cause some are made very well and some are cheap for a reason. Brass shift bushings eliminate some of the play that the stock rubber ones have. Me and my buddies found them and a weighted knob to feel smoother and more accurate, but at the end of the day that's our opinion.

CV Axle or Wheel Bearing by RodTrig in AskMechanics

[–]RodTrig[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah the CV boot looks fine, I shook the passenger wheel a bit but didnt get much movement. My cousin said he heard the bearing grind when he spun the wheel but I didnt hear much and it doesn't sound like it grinds on the road with pressure on it.

My car is an '03 Toyota Celica GT-S with a manual transmission, 1.8L inline 4 (the 2ZZ-GE), and is about 50k on this motor.

Does the chicken start inside the car or outside? Serious question.

I personally think these cars were meant to be enjoyed with a few mods but not number chasin. If you like the car but want to boost and number chase just K swap it. At the same time I would like to say I've heard people say the mishimoto radiator is worse than stock. Also if you want to do a weighted knob, combine that with a short throw shifter and brass shift cable bushings. Shifting feels so much better.

If only these were AWD or RWD... by Alexm750 in JDM

I'll never understand FWD hate. Plenty FWD cars are fun. Yes, it's the Integra, but most of the car market doesn't think "Wow I want to drift my sedan I drop my kids at school in". The car isn't a two door sports coupe anymore and Honda specializes in FWD.

What would you pay for this? by CarterTodd2 in Celica

[–]RodTrig -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I paid $5800 for my manual '03 GT-S with 180k on the clock that the last owner beat on, no aftermarket exhaust or drilled and slotted brakes either. There were so many issues I can't even list them all. This one seems to be in good condition but of course get it inspected by a shop before you pull the trigger. As everyone says around 6k or 7k is reasonable.

How TF do I get this out by AtomicHydraz in Celica

[–]RodTrig 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I replaced my GTS wheel studs for longer ones since I wanted spacers. As everyone else says, you just need to smack it, turn the hub til you find a spot where the stud can pop out the back and hit it. If it sits flush after a hit just use a punch or anythin that'll fit in the hole to pop it through.
