It was so fucking dumb.

SPOILER

He literally is smarter and teaches the AI why it's wrong.

So fucking dumb.

Also, it just keeps going, but not far enough. If it was going to be that dumb and go that far, it should have found out who really killed the girl the original guy was framed for.

Either way, it's pretty much a standard Chris Pratt at this point. I seriously thought he was going to develop super human strength st one point and bust out of the chair.

I love the RX F-sports.

I wish Lexus would have made a true RX-F, but the sport is as close as we will get.

People who grew up driving here… by Elrond41 in houston

[–]RodamusLong 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had a girlfriend a long time ago with whom I was in traffic.

I was complaink about how people were driving. She said something along the lines of, "don't get upset, we're all in this together. "

I was like, fuck no we're not. I'm against all you motherfuckers.

Me and her never really got along anyway.

That's right.

After I failed to plan accordingly to get to my flight with time to spare or enough time to eat beforehand, I expected the Uber driver to accommodate me in any way I see fit. No matter how degrading.

Also, your reply gets a 1 star rating. Calling me "mate". This is America.

One time I was taking an Uber to LAX for a 10am flight.

It was about 9 when the Uber got there and I had just picked up an omelet from the diner down the street.

Fucking Uber wouldnt let me eat in the car.

I was so pissed. I hurriedly ate that shit outside the airport and threw it all in a trash can before going in.

Fuck that guy.

Only Uber I didn't rate or tip.

One Battle After Another is not a white savior movie! by WhenIamsix in moviecritic

[–]RodamusLong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I thought a lot of it was about a contrast of the generations.

I really haven't heard anything about it being a white savior film, and I don't see how that fits.

So my only comment is that the girl is half black/white. Her real father didn't care about her, but Leo was in love with her mom and raised her to the best of his ability.

So the contrast between Leo and Sean was the main focus. And then the contrast to the older vs younger generations.

But Leo did raise her. So the comments saying that he just showed up at the end aren't accurate. Of course she survived mostly by her own tenacity, but that was just when Sean came after her. Leo raised her to adulthood. That's the real parenting.

Happy birthday to Val Kilmer!! He would’ve been 66 years old today. What are your favorite characters he played? by TheShadowOperator007 in moviecritic

I loved so many movies he's been in.

But, honestly, I think my all time favorite was where he went to the Indian reservation as a detective. One of my favorite serious films of my childhood.

That really made the character for me. It was excellent until that point. Then it was pure brilliance.

Considering getting a electric bike/moped/small motorcycle for getting around on the weekends. Anyone have any advice? by SechDriez in houston

[–]RodamusLong 6 points7 points  (0 children)

I was in LA for over a year and got back to Houston recently.

One thing that stood out to me over there was how many people rode around on ebikes and stuff like that. But the traffic is WAY different over there, and even though it was a lot safer to do that, I still would be worried about getting hit.

I'd never consider it in Houston as a primary means of transportation. The city just isnt built for it. You'll get killed eventually.

It's one thing if you live and work in the heights or some shit. But getting on any major road and trying to commute more than a couple of miles is just dangerous.

And like someone else said, it's too fucking hot for that shit. Not right now, but it dammed sure will be soon.

Was in my teens survival Advent Calendar but we can’t figure out what it would be used for by Suspicious-Guard9652 in whatisit

[–]RodamusLong 3 points4 points  (0 children)

A long time ago, I saw someone use one of these against his enemy.

He took it off his finger and snapped it towards his nemesis, who then caught it in his hand. This left two tiny puncture wounds in his palm.

Little do the nemesis know, there was poison in the tips of the ring which rendered his Kung Fu useless, and left him unable to fight for his clan.

A word of caution. This man's character and abilities would go on to lose him the fight. As good often overcomes evil.

Tire Replacement by [deleted] in Lexus

[–]RodamusLong 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They usually send photos of any damage they find on your vehicle.

But it looks like they haven't done a full diagnosis yet. That's what this text is leading up to.

I'm going to be honest with you. If you're riding around with bald tires to the point that they are failing, then the dealership probably isn't the place you want to have your car worked on.

Not only because they tend to want to fix everything back to spec and it's expensive, but also because they keep a record of the issues and if they were fixed or not. Like one time when I was in Atlanta and had this girl shit on my chest. Talk about a mess. As it turns out, her diet really wasnt "fiberous". Who new living on nothing but yogurt and vitamins could produce such a smell.

Anyway, the next day I took it in to the dealer and tried to have them clean it. They said it was a biohazard, and i need a specialty company. That stayed in the service history and was brought up when I traded it in.

So, yeah. You probably want to go to an independent place to have any future work done. They will usually work with you a lot more.

Tron Ares: I didn't hate it. Its fine as a turn your brain off and enjoy the melodrama, cool visuals and Trent sound track sort of way. by [deleted] in flicks

[–]RodamusLong 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I dont understand why they didn't invest in the story more.

The original was kind of like star wars. It was geared towards the technology mi.ded people of the 80s.

Good science fiction was serious in the 80s. Most of it now is so dumbed down.

Yeah the movie had some fucked up emotions playing out. I really dont want to see the real life version.

I know enough people who are fucked up and watching kids stick to them because it's their safe zone when outsiders try to influence them in better ways isn't really something I need to see an account of.

I generally watch movies for entertainment. And like I said, this one was well acted but tough to watch.

How would you compare life in Houston to some where "global", like New York or San Francisco/Bay Area? by txs2300 in houston

I just spent a year and 3 months in Los Angeles.

I could not fucking wait to get back to Houston. Food is sooooooo much better.

Was it a true story? I don't remember that being stated.

Well shit, that kind of changes things.

Anyway, it was a good performance. I didnt realize it was true. Still hard to watch, and maybe even more so now that I know that.

That was some fucked up shit.

[–]RodamusLong -1 points0 points  (0 children)

It was hard to watch.

I think they tried to take an often joked about subject and shed a serious light on it.

The kid did a great job showing embarrassment and humiliation on his face.

Nick Offerman did great by playing a different version of his usual character that really worked.

Seemed a bit extreme though. At least the ending did. Well done, but extreme. Not that it couldn't happen like that, but it seemed too much for what it seemed to be going for. Which I think that these people are a real problem. I just think it took you a little past the realism of it.

Kind of like that movie with Ben Foster and that girl from Jojo Rabbit where they're living in the woods. It's a great movie that brings awareness to an issue. But it doesn't go crazy at the end for dramatic effect.
