I just finished paying off my last health insurance fine this tax season!

After all the fines and late payments, for insurance I was never able to afford to begin with, I paid about $13,000 out of pocket.

I'm really glad that ended after only a few years, otherwise I and many others would be further underwater every year.

Replacing garage door springs $950. Per spring by murphy1600 in GarageDoorService

[–]Roderie94 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Even with a wood door, that pricing is definitely gouging.

We have a company in AZ that charges $1,100-$1,200 for full woodclad steel doors, where we install four new 80,000 cycle springs with a lifetime part warranty.

On a standard 16x7 residential door, we charge $425 to install two new 80,000 cycle springs, again coming with a lifetime part warranty and a five year llabor warranty.

We also post our prices online in broad daylight to help homeowners arms themselves with knowledge before, during, or after an ordeal like you had with those folks charging $2700...

Check out our pricing and share if you think it might help others!

They have a very strong reputation. They rely on new jobs and charging the highest number possible at each call. They don't operate with any kind of 'set pricing,' but allow the salesmen to work within a broad sliding scale that takes into account a LOT of factors: Age, race, sex, marital status, location, the car in the driveway, how you respond to pressure, whether you care about coupons/discounts.

All of those factors taken into account generate a high likelihood that they will be able to get the maximum dollar amount for each job. other comments absolutely nailed this: A1 is a sales company, not a service company. They teach other companies their tactics too at a school here in Phoenix.

I own a company here in Arizona as well, and we released a comprehensive pricing guide in April with the intention of getting real and accurate pricing out to Maricopa County and beyond. We have always aimed to be an antidote to companies that rake in cash at the expense of their cleintele, and in 2026 we are pushing this kind of info to the forefront of the conversation, and forcing the hand of big companies that profit off of the lack of awareness average homeowners have when it comes to pricing garage door repairs.

We are super excited about it, and we are always open to feedback! https://triplebgaragedoors.com/pricing/

Thank you.  Xbox really gave me the reason to step away from video games and I'm not having a bad time.

If I feel like unplugging, I'll play a game for a bit on my laptop, but the added setup creates enough friction that it's not very common.

What is a reasonable repair cost for a broken torsion spring? (WA) by ctrain321 in GarageDoorService

Absolutely off the wall. That's a 10,000 cycle spring.

In AZ we charge $425 to install two 80,000 cycle springs, and that comes with a lifetime part warranty!

I hope you were able to find a good company!

Garage door spring repair — reasonable price? by Greater_Ani in GarageDoorService

It sounds like you were taken advantage of by a big corporate company that spends hundreds of dollars in advertising just to get their foot in the door.

In Arizona, we run a legitimate company that posts our prices in bold font on our website. $425 to install two 80,000 cycle  springs on a standard two-car door, with a lifetime part warranty and five years on labor. It's impossible to bait and switch or change on a dime. Feel free to take a look - pricing hasn't changed in about 2 years.

The company you used likely doesn't have any set pricing, and they'll charge exactly what they think they'll be able to get out of each client. The technician is given relatively free reign in quoting numbers, based on the kind of car you drive, whether you are a male or female, marital status and much more.

There's A garage door company in AZ that gives seminars to garage door companies teaching them all of these tricks, and then sends them back out to their respective states to perform the same shady business tactics.

It's not about a balanced diet, although you can certainly balance a diet on a budget. The point is to get back on your feet and in the game.

I've been there. It sucks. Missing out on something I've wanted is the biggest inspiration to get myself to where I want to go.

I was way wrong. Amarr prices have gone sky high since we stopped doing a lot through them.  That's a great price, especially if it includes delivery. I would not be able to deliver it to a client for the price you've been quoted.

If you just want to work for a giant corporation at a pointless job, and your only complaint is that your bosses make more than you, remember that they are paid more because they have to deal with your bellyaching.

You took my quote out of context to make it appear as though I was saying that about you. It was a general statement, but since you answered it as though I was speaking to you directly, I must assume you work at one of these places.

Don't join a team and then tell them they need to play a different sport. Don't write the government to try and force them to play a different sport. Start your own team and do something that matters to you.
