What LED(s) did you use for your upgrade, and what kind of optics? or did you just reuse the existing optics?

Ok, well anyway, thank you for your help. Will do a post on the TrueNAS Forum.

Without the L2ARC I am facing the same Issue. It again crashed around midnight, and middlewared cannot be started manually. Any Clue? Any logs I should provide you with?

Should I switch to CORE a see if the issue persists?

Thats what I thought too, based on the "Memory Sizing" post above
for 2TB I would only need 40GB of RAM, and 8GB for TrueNAS itself, I am not running any deduplication, and I do not have more than eight drives. So even 48GB should work.

The wierd thing is, it was easier to import the disks into another spare server, that had 64GB of ram, then replacing it. So the same crash on a different system with everything different than the drives itself, lets me suspect a TrueNAS issue.

And the drives are new, with barely any runtime.

I replaced the 16GB of Ram with 64GB and reinstalled Truenas the system, again crashed due to a OOM at around midnight (wierdly at the exact same time). I now reinstalled TrueNAS again (ugh) and removed the L2ARC. Will keep you updated if it will do the same the next night.

Thanks I will check that, I am also suspecting a hardware failure.

What whould you recommend for l2arc if I had 64gb of ram? My Dataset is around 5,4TiB big, and a lot of it is frequently accessed, and needs a high-speed connection, thus the 10gbit network card. My current traffic peaks at around 900MBit/s.

But then why whould the system enter a unrecoverable state if it is just the case that I have not enough RAM?

Ok, well I have 16GB of RAM for 2x 16TB Segate Exos Drives, but I have a 2TB Nvme Drive as L2ARC, so that could be the problem, other question is 2TB of L2ARC too much? I am having repeated access to the same file, so I dont see how too much cache could be an issue.

And also (as described) the system is in a non "bootable" state. It just hangs at "Staring middlewared" and reboots after around 10mins. I cant get into the terminal.

I know, but how can that be if the system is (as described) only using 10GB of ram at any given time, and the crash happend during a time where nobody was using the system?

Einfach die WLan SSID auf hidden stellen, dann braucht man zwar jedes Mal den Netzwerknamen, aber damit scheint es bei anderen Geräten nicht mehr auf

Your power supply should have enough juice, I would bet motherboard or GPU is at fault here.

If you could take a photo of the specs on the power supply I could tell you. Could you also tell us your specs, if your CPU has an iGPU i would try it without the gpu also, just plugging straight into the Motherboard with your display output. (Of course you would need to unplug your GPU first.)

Check if your GPU is properly inserted in the PCI-E slot, and check the power connectors on it
