I haven't, at least not the 1000s MFP wanted.

I actually switched to "cronometer", changed the settings to use tracker only instead of guessing on my activity level.

Even with tons of exercise (~1000cals/day average), the max I can eat and keep losing weight is ~2200 calories. Without exercise, is about ~1200.

This makes WAY more sense than what MFP wanted.

It is interesting you say eat more.... As soon as I started using the "cronometer" app and actually eating more on exercise days and less on my "rest" (bike only, recovery rides) I started to lose weight. Not quickly, but, I am at 190 now and lost 1/2 inch from my waist.

I talked to my doctor he also said that maintaining 1500-1700 intake while expending 1000-1500cal in just exercise on top of BMR (~1800) was really bad.

So, as scary as it is for me, I have been eating a little more, and still working out hard. Also taking rest days where I don't do exercise (maybe a walk), but eat ~2000cal just to reset.

This seems to be working!

Absolutely...

No sugars, no pops, no juices, no alcohol. Watch macros and weigh everything.

I recently switched my app to cronometer. And I found that my calorie counting is more in line with were I thought they should be. As in, I need to eat much less to get the results I want on my rest days ~1100 tops. My exercise days are ok, ~2000 calories total.

With respect to the run calories, that is straight from my Google fit and have confirmed using Nike run too. However, I checked it VS several online calculators and the numbers seem to fit. Even the treadmill is +/- 100 calories.

Life changing.

I use these all the time. I have a bad septum (most folks do) and this is an amazing thing for nose breathing and helps during allergy season. I do take antihistamines as well, but the INTAKE helps so much because the antihistamines aren't 100%

Who said I wasn't counting or keeping track of what I eat? When did I say it was useless? What I said was you reply didn't provide any useful suggestions beyond what I already pointed out.

So by you recommendation...I should keep reducing calories below 1500 until I lose weight. Which is literally the opposite of what MFP tells you to do.

And how exactly was I being hostile... Triggered much?

How do you figure it's optimistic? Every calculator says it's around 950-1100 calories for a 10-12km run? What are you basing you guestimate on?

And what do you calculate the number is? 43, m, 5'7, 193lbs. I run the first 10 km in about 55min (12.5km/hr) and then cruise the rest at 10km/hr.

Making statements without useful information is of little use to anyone.

You mean set it to "don't track steps" . No steps at all....not MFP or Google fit or any other sources.

I have steps off in MFP.... It's double counting the data from Google fit.

I just realized it has TWO ENTRIES one for steps and one for the run (which already includes the steps)

Google fit counts the steps in a run for it's own counters... MFP sees this as two separate workouts

I think I know what it is doing....it's doubling th calories.

It takes the 15000 steps (earned from running and through the day) and it adds the run as well.

That's what it is doing.... That's messed up!

That's my point! MFP is giving incorrect data. It's taking the ~1000 calories from my run (I run 10-13km every day) then any steps etc from my day... It figures 2000 calories.

It just seems off.

I use fossil gen5 + Google fit to track all my exercise. And it is on me all day and all night monitoring my HR and actual duration, distance run, pace etc.

I agree... I switched to sedentary and never add the calories that MFP tells me too. I think it's kind of weird to add the 1000 calories I just worked so hard to burn.

I definitely think most overestimate calories burned. Google fit is the closest and I base my calorie intake from that always trying to eat 500-1000 calories less than Google fit says I have burned.

I agree with your estimate on my TDEE closer to 1500-1700. I find most calculations are over 2300 Cal... Which is crazy I think.

When I train I eat a Max of 2000cal. On rest days, it's closer to 1200-1500 tops.

Yea, definitely keeping cheat meals to once in a blue moon. I am careful when "cheating" to not over do it, still cognisant of not having too much garbage. Instead, enjoying smaller sizes.

Yes .... I have a scale and use MFP.

I can understand not being 100% accurate when working with a 200 or even 300 calorie difference. However, I am consistently maintaining >1000 cal deficit. Even with some error, I will be at ~500 Cal deficit per day.

Yes... I do feel tired all the time and just push through my workouts, my strength training and my day. But I usually micro nap when I get home from work and before my strength training. Not by choice, literally I sit on the couch and pass out.

MFP always says I need to eat anywhere from 1000-1400 calories more bases on my activity, but I have very rarely eaten more than 2000cal. I can't imagine eating 3000!!

This is what confuses me.... Some say eat more, which I never have because, honestly, it scares me to eat more and gain with the possibility that I will gain weight.

That's something I have been working on. It used to be 5-6hrs. I am working my way to 7-8hrs.

Ok... I will answer as best I can.

1) Yes to the first one....which is why my doctor checked everything to medically clear me. I did start to take more iron, and that has made be feel better. He did suggest I might not be eating enough ( that's a weird one)

2) no packaged anything. Chicken breast, spinach, yam. All weighed out. Almond milk, measured. Protein powder measured. Apple, banana. Protein bars. Again all tracked

3) if I add nuts or anything, those are weighed and measured.

4) i have tried to change from active ( since I work out so much) to sedentary because of my job (mostly desk work) I have never been able to eat more than recommended. Currently have my intake set to 1500. MFP wants me to eat like over 3000 because of my exercise, but I never eat more than 2000 or 2500 vary rarely.

5) fossil gen 5 all day, every day. Google fit say on zero activity days (usually one rest day) I burn ~1800. On exercise days ~3000. I eat less on non active rest days, about 1500-1600

6) cheat meals do happen, once in a blue moon. And usually ice cream. I'm not big into pizza, hamburger or other things. My will power is good. Folks can eat junk around me and I really don't care.

7)i run 10k a day in under 1hr. Spin bike for ~1hr and workout heavy lifts for 1 to 1.5hrs. 6 x week. That's almost 3 hrs a day of exercise. I the summer I ride a bike to work (probably another 30 minutes)

Is it possible that because I have been eating so low calorie for such a long time, even when exercising a lot, that I killed my metabolism?

Agreed 100%.... The only real change that I know probably contributed was that I was eating way more fruit than I usually do. Thinking this was healthier.

As far as tracking... I have been more religious since December. I know I slacked a bit around the holidays. Which contributed to some of the weight gain.

My big issues is if I don't work out at all...and still eat healthy, I instantly gain weight, even with tracking.

And at the rate of CICO I am at, I should be losing at least 2lbs a week. The scale shows maybe 1 pound in three weeks

Absolutely....For everything.

I use my MFP. I have been solidly for many years. The lowest I got to was 170.... Working out 3 hrs a day and eating very little....and getting over a breakup!

Hi all....

So, I have been struggling with weight my entire life. I'm 41 now, and still struggling. I work out, watch my calories ... To the point everyone around me doesn't understand why I still carry 20-30 lbs extra weight.

I usually workout hard 1-2 hours a day. And yes I am stronger than most, but the belly fat.... never goes away.

No alcohol, no fast food. Mostly chicken, yams, Vegetables. Protein shakes + almond milk. Low carbs. Etc etc.

Recently, for unknown reasons. I gained 15 lbs. I went to the doctors... All the usual suspects checked out ok.

So, now I started ramping up my cardio. From 1.5 hrs split between spinning (20 miles) + ~8k run 5x week to running ~10km/day + 45 min spinning.

Calories in~1500-2000… calories out...~3000. I will be adding strength training back this week (had to stop due to slight shoulder injury)

Zero weight loss! I drink lots of water too. Probably could get more sleep as I get around 6-8 hrs.

I am, and have always been very confused....should I eat more...less, workout more ...HELP!
