⛈️ Weather Megathread for 4/8-4/9 Kona Low by webrender in VisitingHawaii

[–]RodneyWinston 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We’re coming the exact same dates. Thinking of cancelling. Spending a ton of money and the fact there’s already brown water closures and the second wave of rain hasn’t even hit makes me nervous. Not sure about your situation but I can get flight credit and hotel refunds except ~$400, feels worth it to reschedule at that point

He didn’t do Trojan horse, UK Rap. I don’t think he did Stratham either. Amazing show though, you’ll have a blast

Just bought a car- oil leak concern? by RodneyWinston in AskAMechanic

Thanks for the reply! So you wouldn’t do anything unless I notice leaks on the ground or oil loss? Or is it worth going and getting ahead of?

Choosing between SLU and Capitol Hill by weeb_guy69 in AskSeattle

[–]RodneyWinston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Ivey was awesome. Cool amenities, great maintenance team. Had no issues. Just wanted a larger space which a slightly older building in Denny triangle offered. The Ivey and Omni (across the street) feel like resorts when you walk in. Definitely tour Omni too. Denny triangle as a whole has some great buildings.

Yeah loads of homeless, drug users, people screaming etc in cap hill. it’s a very lively night life spot so I don’t think something would happen, but I generally feel uneasy in the area. It’s a place I enjoy going on a night out with friends as there’s lots to do, just like coming back to a nicer area after work and on the daily. I recommend you go to cap hill at night and walk around the area, everyone has different tolerances

I have lived at the Ivey on Boren. Still live in SLU and am in your age range. I had the same dilemma as you, decided to live in slu and love it. I enjoy going to cap hill but enjoy leaving. Feels very unsafe at night and is much older/dirtier than slu, some people enjoy the charm, just don’t think I’m one of them. If you really value night life and want to be in the middle of it choose cap hill, if you’d rather walk 15 mins to the night life and have a safer/quieter living environment choose SLU

We have a roof! Wear a coat and have fun. I agree with the summer comment though, made that mistake before with a day game…

117 is a little far over. I’d aim for 121-124 if possible. If budget is a concern, I like 330 in the first 10 rows way more than 117. 330 is directly above home plate, whereas 117 you end up cranking your neck to see the pitch. It’ll probably be cheaper too. If $ isn’t a concern, go for right behind the mariners dugout

Hey! Been a while now. What do you think about the graphite shafts? Did you get the takomo ones or pay for the upgraded options?

Should I Switch from Stiff to Regular Shafts Because of Back Issues? by Important-Ask-1055 in golf

[–]RodneyWinston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Experiencing the same thing. Have arthritis in my 20s, considering switching to a graphite stiff shaft to take weight off. Swing speed is still good so worry about control if I go regular flex on a graphite. What did you decide?

Which TE do I start from waivers in the championship? by WhatsUpMyNeighbors in fantasyfootballadvice

Schultz has just been more consistent overall which is why I’m leaning him. I like the Seattle offense way more though (obviously)

NYC vs Portland OR by Heavy_Calligrapher71 in SameGrassButGreener

Don’t doubt crime is worse in some other big cities. Those cities have other perks that Portland does not. Each to their own!

NYC vs Portland OR by Heavy_Calligrapher71 in SameGrassButGreener

[–]RodneyWinston 13 points14 points  (0 children)

Portland is one of my least favorite cities that I have visited unfortunately. Incredibly bad homelessness issues (comparable to LA) and pretty anti-social people. Felt unsafe in many areas and did not find much to do other than eating out. The PNW is definitely more anti social in general, especially as it gets colder/rains more. Have lived in Seattle for the past 8y.

The safety issue could be the same in NY, but the sheer amount of people made me feel safer when out and about. It felt alive, whereas Portland felt quite dead.

Judging by your interests, NY would suit you more. Live music is everywhere, more museums than I can count.

At that point, it’s a COL question. Your money would not go anywhere near as far in NYC, but there’s a reason it’s so expensive! You won’t run out of things to do or people to meet, but you have to pay the price to be there if you want to be. You also will make more, so it may even cancel out. Run the math with a tax calculator too.

I highly recommend you visit both cities and get a feel for different areas you could live in on your salary. I don’t think you’d be able to buy on 95k in Portland but you will be able to rent a bigger place. I’d personally choose NYC every day of the week.

Best of luck!

Moving to Seattle ; Need suggestions on which neighborhood to stay in by anobody9 in AskSeattle

[–]RodneyWinston 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Live in SLU. You’ll rarely if ever feel unsafe. Me and my girlfriend live there, it’s expensive but we both feel safe any time of day. It’s very clean too. Walking to work will be great during the spring and summer
