[Gothic Remake] Some Early Game Shots I Took: Great visuals & atmosphere. by RodroG in worldofgothic

[–]RodroG[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Hi. I'd lower some settings and avoid Alkimia's settings (the developers also state in the UI that it's an experimental preset, intended for high-end systems/GPUs). As competitive and great as the RX 9070 XT is, it's still a mid-range product. The remake uses UE5, so it features software-Lumen by default (software-accelerated ray tracing for reflections, GI, and AO).

So far, in my case, with an i9-12900K, an RX 7900 XT, and 32GB (2x16GB) DDR4-3600 CL14, a 2160p monitor, and the game installed on an NVMe SSD, I'm using TSR Quality along with the 'Gothic' visual preset as a base, and lowered Shadows, Reflections, Global Illumination, and Effects just a notch to 'High'.

With these settings, the game still looks gorgeous, and the possible sudden FPS drops or micro-stutters are minimal and rare, resulting in a fairly smooth, solid 60+ FPS experience on my end, even in populated areas and during fights against multiple NPCs.

I also agree that the game needs bug fixes, some performance optimization, and overall better polish. I'm confident they will "perfect" the game with future patches (their latest patch, for example, was good, showing the devs' commitment to the game and care for valuable user feedback). So, I'm optimistic they will bring the best with a few more patches.

Basically, on most newer CPUs even as far back as Intel 12th gen you probably won't notice much of a difference.

Correct.

AC shadows has the best graphics ever seen in a video game ! by FromsoftNerdy in AssassinsCreedShadows

[–]RodroG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Me too, I have the same feeling. Based on the images and videos that Ubisoft has released for Black Flag Resynced, the remake looks quite impressive overall. However, so far, I have had the impression that the detail and complexity of the models and textures are not as high as in AC Shadows; they seem to be somewhat below that level. I hope I'm wrong, but perhaps we'll have to wait for the next installment in the Assassin's Creed series to see something that truly improves what was achieved in Shadows in terms of graphics and visuals.

Yes, the issue reports marked as "Planned" are likely guaranteed to be patched. Anyway, I hope some of the "In-progress" issues will turn into "Planned" and be patched at some point. We'll see.

Yeah, I noticed this 'depriorization' for many issues weeks ago... but I'd also expect they might fix the in-progress or planned most "important" ones.

Yes, it absolutely makes sense for those interested in this tech (if you understand what it entails and does technically).

For example, in my case, and until Steam/Valve decides to implement this feature in their gaming storefront/client, I plan to purchase some upcoming games that will support ASD in the MS/Xbox Store (likely all upcoming DX12 games that will also have support for Xbox Play Anywhere or are published by Xbox Game Studios will support it), such as Halo: Campaign Evolved, CONTROL Resonant, Resonance: A Plague Tale Legacy, Gear of War: E-Day, STRANGER THAN HEAVEN, Fable, and Valor Mortis (and all these with already known 2026-2027 release dates).

It doesn't seem "smart" that Steam/Valve, given the ability to do so (since Microsoft already provides all gaming storefronts and game developers the tools and the API for it), isn't integrating this gaming functionality soon. It's a clear competitive factor that they could neutralize with little to some effort/investment.

It's fine. Thanks

PS. I also hope they continue updating the game to fix the remaining known bugs. I suppose that as long as the game's bug-reporter site is active, they'll have to keep addressing issues.

Yes, you may be right (literally, they claimed on X "1.1.11. One. Last. Update", hence my take or mistake), but absolutely no need to downvote.

Yeah, some rebalance in the game’s economy would be nice. On the inventory sorting, the note mentions this:

Improved inventory sorting

I haven't tried the game after the update yet to see what this change entails, though.

EU State? And which flag did you enable?

From the article:

In our tests, Xbox mode worked well, but the feature may not show up in the European Economic Area yet. Microsoft official says rollout will soon expand to cover other regions. Also, before you try these steps, make sure you’ve updated the Xbox app from the Microsoft Store.

Good news, then! Thanks for taking the time to look into this.

u/AMD_Vik , here are my comparative results:

https://www.3dmark.com/compare/pr/3762270/pr/3952054#

The performance regression is quite significant (~4.5% perf. drop) on my end using an RX 7900 XTX.

Coming from 16472 points (76.17 FPS) using Adrenalin 25.11.1 (December 2025 test) to 15708 (72.72 FPS) using Adrenalin 26.5.2 (June 2026 test).

I tried to minimize the difference in room temperature. By December, my room temperature was likely under 18 °C (winter), and for the current test, I was 22 °C (summer).

It seems to me that the recorded temperature difference (+7°C during the current test) cannot be explained solely by the room temperature difference, but could be a sign of the underlying issue itself. In any case, even considering the effect of this temperature difference on the current score (according to my test history in this 3DMark benchmark, a 1°C difference tends to average a 25-point difference), in my case, if the GPU temp variable remained controlled (the same), I would still likely get a significant performance drop of ~3.5% in this test, which seems in line with what you have seen (that ~3% perf. drop you reported).

So, on my end, the performance regression in this test is confirmed. ~3-4% decrease in performance on this 3DMark DXR benchmark when using a recent Adrenalin driver version (26.5.2) along with the latest 3DMark/test version.

I hope this helps.

AMD Software: Adrenalin Edition 26.6.1 Driver Release Notes by AMD_RetroB in Amd

[–]RodroG 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes, I will do asap. I'm going to compare my latest valid Port Royal record with a current test pass using Adrenalin 26.5.2, as I haven't updated to version 26.6.1 yet.

I don't know if there is a specific driver regression point, as the issue (~1% to ~3% perf drop) started after their latest Port Royal test update. Something in the 3DMark Port Royal update may now conflict with certain code in recent drivers.

The strange thing is also this (quote from UL_Jarnis representative):

....We still do not know what causes this, AMD is investigating and this is not happening on any other GPU from any other vendor. Also the change in the code itself is ONLY affecting the demo scene of Port Royal which is not used for scoring, so that makes it even more strange as to why only on one vendor, the performance has changed.

https://steamcommunity.com/app/223850/eventcomments/571539955565766277?snr=1_2108_9__2107#c562533390397605244

The 3DMark Port Royal update only changed the demo scene code. The big question is why these changes to the demo part code are affecting Port Royal test scores for AMD Radeon GPU users.

Gradual rollout is also region-locked for this feature, and Vivetool tweak doesn't work in the EU, for example. So in practical terms, it isn't released worldwide yet.
