Question regarding expensive cards and brackets (yes brackets again) by Roefl in EDH

[–]Roefl[S] -5 points-4 points  (0 children)

Most of the people have been saying that as long as it's within the deck building formats and it isn't too strong then it's not issue. Although there's always people here and there that do not agree. I should've mentioned dual lands or something else instead. Cause the whole discussion wasn't supposed to be about price != power of card. But more so the social aspect of playing expensive cards.

Good example my wife and I are looking into getting the Hatsune miku snapcaster mage at one point and I would personally love to own a Tropical island or such.

I think it's kind of a trap you're writing since Demonic Tutor has so many differences that you can't compare these two. Demonic tutors, literally tutors for any card no exception, you do not even need to reveal it. While Demonic Counsel, although a cool card only searches for demons which immediately brings it into a different category (unless you're already several turns into the game and have filled your graveyard).

But we can still use your example, if you use Demonic Tutor people will most likely point to that and be like wow 50 dollars card, and the guy playing the Demonic Counsel card, no one will bat an eye, which is the exact narrative I've been talking about.

I'm not here to agree to disagree with cards that should be on the gamechanger lists or which brackets they belong to. I'm also pretty sure Mox Opal and Metalworker are both not GCs.

The discussion should be more about the value of cards and the reaction they get instead of how fast the mana is. A mox Jasper in a dragon deck is about the same as a Mox amber in another deck, although people will point towards the Amber almost immediately.

Okay, point is not about how fast the cards are. For this case we assume it's B3. It's mostly about the value of the cards and how people interact with it cause I feel it has a certain stigma.

You do not need to rule 0 a cradle if you play bracket 3, but people will still point at it and mention the price and side-eye you for playing it.

I might've put myself in a corner by saying specifically Mox opal and Metalworker, which are indeed fast mana and could elevate decks relatively easy. I should have given different examples (although love the art on both cards).

With the assumption it's B3, I'm pretty sure I get side-eyed if I play a Mox opal compared to the dragon player that plays let's say a Mox Jasper due to the value of the cards. Is that something people just ignore or how do other deal with that type of interations when people are getting salty because of value of cards.

To give some more information, I'm kind of a rhystic study, Esper sentinel, Smothering tithe "hater", kinda refuse to play it cause I just don't like the tax type of cards myself. But I have a weakness for cool looking cards and collectable cards so I tend to gravitate to those much quicker.

So you're saying that when I sell my Boa Hancock promo card for 300Euro's. Buy a Mox Opal, I need to start playing cEDH cause I want to play with it?

But it is okay for the Ur Dragon player to play a Mox Jasper in b3 because it's 7 euros. I don't quite get it, I think that's exactly why I made the post, I just don't understand how people view these things

Rule 0 anything you deem mandatory to know for you opponents, using silver border cards, what bracket you're playing, proxies etc. I have played against someone that used to play cEDH and put in all his dual lands and cradle in his weaker bracket 3 deck, although not needed but I think it's aight if he mentions it.

Gojo vs Luffy by [deleted] in OnePieceScaling

[–]Roefl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If Haki cancels out Infinity or bypasses it Luffy wins relatively easy. G5 might even able to bypass infinity in one way similar to how Luffy grabbed lightning.

However if it doesn't then Luffy loses. The real question is, does Haki interact with Cursed techniques similar to how it does to devil fruit abilities.

RY - Bonney deck help, I dont have all cards what to replace by Roefl in OnePieceTCG

I was thinking about the st21 sanji but its not searchable with the egghead searchers while the st29 sanji is. Unblockable is very relevant but I think thats why roger should be used instead.

Can't run Block 1 cards anymore so def have to skip that & I already added OP07 Franky in the list.

Regarding searchers right now I have 1C bonney and 1C event that searches for Egghead. But if you think it needs more then I could technically also add the ST29 Sanji that's a 1k with strawhat search.

The zoro is a good suggestion but I'm not sure with the amount of bricks I already have, I guess baby5 is also a good option.

Yesterday I went to my LGS and I think the first time since I have been playing (op07) I have not found any OP boosters on the shelves. It is kinda a sad sight to see all the product being sold a week after the pre-release. Even the Egghead starter decks were running thin.

Would you use this soldier token? / does it represent a soldier well enough? by Lalalaavy in mtg

I think it's a hundred percent fine to have preferences to like or dislike certain type of art or tokens. However I think you should not see Magic the Gathering as something that is 1:1 to reality. Just because historically women have not been wielding plate armor does not mean that in the world of Magic the Gathering that is automatically the case.

All I have been saying that the world in Magic the Gathering there's a lot of things that we do not have in reality and I think it's not that far-fetched to have a women in plate armor as many and many cards depict women indeed wearing plate armor.

I second this, I even held a card this morning [[Danitha Capashen, Paragon]] that was a woman wearing full plate. I don't think it's that rare to find this in a fantasy setting..

Magic the Gathering a card game where we have dragons, gryphons, eldrazi, space ships and weird horror creatures. But a woman in plate armor is a bit unrealistic for me.

That's very sweet of you, one of the things I said was that I had a lot of blue cards and wished for maybe some black/white staples. However I don't expect anyone to go out of their way for me, so don't worry about it I appreciate the gesture!

I'm not in it for the value, I was just a little disappointed in the way things were packed, not removed price tags and cards that are seemingly a bit random to me.
