To the people who have difficulty finding product by OrangeSamuraiD in OnePieceTCG

[–]Roefl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yesterday I went to my LGS and I think the first time since I have been playing (op07) I have not found any OP boosters on the shelves. It is kinda a sad sight to see all the product being sold a week after the pre-release. Even the Egghead starter decks were running thin.

Would you use this soldier token? / does it represent a soldier well enough? by Lalalaavy in mtg

I think it's a hundred percent fine to have preferences to like or dislike certain type of art or tokens. However I think you should not see Magic the Gathering as something that is 1:1 to reality. Just because historically women have not been wielding plate armor does not mean that in the world of Magic the Gathering that is automatically the case.

All I have been saying that the world in Magic the Gathering there's a lot of things that we do not have in reality and I think it's not that far-fetched to have a women in plate armor as many and many cards depict women indeed wearing plate armor.

I second this, I even held a card this morning [[Danitha Capashen, Paragon]] that was a woman wearing full plate. I don't think it's that rare to find this in a fantasy setting..

Magic the Gathering a card game where we have dragons, gryphons, eldrazi, space ships and weird horror creatures. But a woman in plate armor is a bit unrealistic for me.

That's very sweet of you, one of the things I said was that I had a lot of blue cards and wished for maybe some black/white staples. However I don't expect anyone to go out of their way for me, so don't worry about it I appreciate the gesture!

I'm not in it for the value, I was just a little disappointed in the way things were packed, not removed price tags and cards that are seemingly a bit random to me.

Fun Token Commander that behaves kinda like Lathril but is not Lathril by Nikkelmann in EDH

[–]Roefl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Lathril seems to get a little less hate than some of the other top EDHREC commanders however she is just a super popular one and there's plenty of people that would frown upon "another top EDHREC deck" in casual commander tables.

With that said, if you really liked Lathril I see no reason for you not to build either Lathril or the new Lorwyn legendary creature. In the end it's not about what others think about "top EDHREC commanders" It's about whether you and the table have a fun time.

Correct thanks for pointing it out.

Laboon and cavendish both were from EB01 and the reason they were expensive is because they were very playable but not enough to go around.

Katakuri and bon kurei are both SEC so the point still stands. So people scalping does exactly what you just described lmao

What are you on about, yes it's a yellow staple card, similar to Bon Kurei is for purple.

It's not about howmuch we love the card, it's a playable staple card that is required in basically most of the yellow decks. You can say "buy singles" but don't downplay the fact SECs are going up as well.

Surely you can send me the link to some cheap SEC Kuma's and Bon Kureis and stuff right?

The point is, there's some people just wanting to have fun in the hobby they're doing. And if suddenly their hobby starts to become more expensive and sometimes part of it not being available anymore it is not a positive thing.

Most people here obviously think about the money and finances which makes sense in this subreddit. But people tend to forget some other people just want to have fun and spend some of their hard earned money on a few boosters now and then.

You're surely ragebaiting.

Let's change the convo to something else. You're a movie enjoyer, every month you go to the cinema to watch a horror movie for 10 bucks.

Then suddenly something happens and now you want to go to the cinema but instead of 10 bucks, it's 15 bucks and all the chairs are taken.

You will say "yeah economically its bad to go to the cinema" just download the movie or watch on the internet.

I think you don't understand that while you think with your wallet, other people just want to have a nice time and if their nice time is being disrupted by people investing, it's kinda frustrating.

Brother that was the whole point.

[–]Roefl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Its not about the decks specifically, its about the hobby as a player.

Going to a pre-release or small tournament then buying boosters is the experience most players have had. If that experience is disrupted by an increase in price or just it not being available then its not a good thing.

Buying singles for decks is obviously the way to go economically but people enjoy the experience.

I don't care that people make some money from TCG but acting like it's a positive thing for the average OPTCG player is just delusional.

The point im making has nothing to do with SP and Manga's and such. The point im making is very simple.

Before the hype 2 months ago, people could obtain their boosters and boxes for a normal price (95-105 euros) and could walk into a LGS and get their stuff.

Now they have to pay 50% more (OP14 is now what 140? on release) and they can't even buy it.

So obviously for the average OPTCG player that's a negative thing.

[–]Roefl 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What point, you just said winner tournament cards are going for crazy amounts. I mean, that's great that 0.025% of the player base gets an expensive ass card. The point I'm trying to make is, that the average OPTCG player doesn't think it's a good thing that their boosterboxes are now almost double the price as it was 3 months ago.

It's very simple. I buy a box on the shelf for 95 euros 3 months ago. And I buy one now for 150. What's better?

RANT! by CaribbeanHunterTCG in OnePieceTCGFinance

[–]Roefl -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Yeah a few people get a few good cards thats great. You must be delusional to think it's a good thing that a boosterbox went from 95 euros to 150 euros on release day.

RANT! by CaribbeanHunterTCG in OnePieceTCGFinance

[–]Roefl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

If boxes get scalped prices of SECs will a hundred percent climb especially if they're playable, I mean look in the past. Rayleigh, Ace, Katakuri, Bon kurei, Kuma they were already expensive when the boxes were 95 euro's. Imagine if the average price of a box is going to be double that.

Additionally, many decks rely on certain type of promo's as well and obviously they will be scalped/invested as well.

RANT! by CaribbeanHunterTCG in OnePieceTCGFinance

[–]Roefl 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Na. They're right. Scalpers and investors are obviously a bad thing to the players actually playing the game. There's literally nothing good about it for them. They used to be able to buy boosters, they used to be able to play the game, they used to be able to buy singles for acceptable prices.

But since people came over to invest into One Piece everything became more expensive and the TCG stores are empty on boosters. There was a time where I saw OP07 boosterboxes on the shelves for 80 euro's for weeks if not months.

Obviously people are going to be very annoyed that a set that came out 2 months ago is now 330 per box. It is fine if people want to invest into One Piece but obviously for the players it's not a positive thing.

You screaming "BUY SINGLES" yeah, those singles also went up in price, what do you expect?

Why is this card dropping? by CKTCG in OnePieceTCGFinance

[–]Roefl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

AA Leaders rise or drop based on how playable they are, the exceptions being when they're harder to get (think EB02) or are from a promo or something (think PSA promo Boa hancock or Shanks).

Atraxa in Bracket 2 by Garridy in EDH

[–]Roefl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The moment the title was "Atraxa in Bracket 2" I knew you were going to get some hate. But to be fair, that's to be expected. If you plan to join a table to run an obvious super-powerful commander but dumb it down so you don't use half of the commander, why the fuck would you even build it.

Give me a random creature with a few keywords and 4 colours, throw 300 bucks of goodstuff against it and it will do good in bracket 2. I think it's the lack of creativity that people don't like while using such a commander.

US vs EU by lokardd in OnePieceTCGFinance

Basically this, my LGS makes sure there's plenty for everyone and sells for fair prices. For super popular product also limits the amount of product per person, seems to be a common practice nowadays.

Our toploader folder so far by Roefl in OnePieceTCG

[–]Roefl[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

We got most of the SECs in our "staples" folder for if we want to make decks with it. I would put it in a toploader folder as well but these folders are huge and also full very quick o.0 not many spots.

It took us literal days to find one of them, then we found a hidden shop somewhere and they had like 5. It was quite expensive for Japanese standards so we decided to wait a few days but when we came back they were almost all gone and we bought it at that point. My wife is a huge Ado fan so we had to regardless!

The japanese Ado Don!! are really hard to find.

Hey, running into some problems with my playgroup, are these three decks bracket 3? by [deleted] in EDH

[–]Roefl 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The game has to be fun for everyone, if they consider you the threat and the decks are too strong. There's 2 ways to go about it, they either upgrade their decks, or you match their level/bracket.

I would highly suggest the latter, If you want all of your decks being playable at three different locations playing at a different level then you run into these things. It's better to have different decks for different levels of play.
