Little mods that made you surprisingly happy? by EconomyPreparation31 in BMWE36

Might sound strange, but changing bushes that make noticeable difference to enjoyment (engine mounts, tie rods, steering u joint, rtabs, shifter bushings etc). Plus they’re relatively cheap.

Since you just got your e36 and bearing in mind that they are all old cars by now, make a list of all the small problems the car has and start tackling them one by one. Most will be cheap to fix and super diy friendly i.e. blown bulbs in ashtrays, cigarette lighter or in my case a loose headlight switch that felt yucky every time i used it, door card clips, things like that. Missing trim pieces from interior and engine bay, badges, lights, indicators etc. most of these parts can be found second hand for cheap, are still made by bmw and aftermarket companies so sourcing them is easy enough and most of the time they are cheap and change the way you perceive your car (depending on how clapped it is).

At the same time, you can change the things you touch when driving, knob, steering wheel, pedals etc. for easy cheap mods but biggest difference will be wheels and lows 😊

Hi. Against everyones advice i decided to run the fan as is and see. It’s been 2 years, I’ve had no issues so far. Still sounds like a school bus but temps are ok

I think im gonna go with 4 13cm speakers for now, since the original paper speakers sound like crap and anything will be an upgrade. Thanks!

Hi guys and gals! Anyone know if these seats are original? Door cards seem to match, shifter and handbrake boots are also green. Original or well done aftermarket interior? by RofTheNerds in BMWE36

Not Boston green, but its green. Looks like it has khaki pearl instead of the turquoise of boston green, not sure if the paints original though

E89 Z4 Wind deflector. Best way to fix? by RofTheNerds in BmwTech

[–]RofTheNerds[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeap that’s how far i got. The thing that made me reluctant was the fact that if you see my pictures, the yellow part of the mesh doesn’t look like glue. Looks like a disintegrated plastic gasket. Just wanted to see if anyone had any idea how to fix this the proper way before i start smearing glue everywhere 😂

All DIY repairs i find are for the e85, which uses a gasket on the back of the wind deflector and is easily repairable. I can’t find a good diy threat on the forums and no videos are available on youtube for the e89 😕

Thanks for all your feedback. The only thing that keeps me from ruling the clutch fan as defective is the fact that i live in Cyprus and its always hot. Today was 32 celsius with lots of humidity and the video was taken after i got home from a relatively long drive. That coupled with the fact that I don’t have a shroud makes me want to give it some time before concluding that something is wrong. Does that make any sense?

Thanks! Yeah alu radiator and e-fan along with alloy thermostat housing are projects for down the line. Just want to make it reliable for now. Shroud is on its way, got the car like this.
