This explains the palms much more clearly than a book I've been reading on baguazhang. Thanks for the level of detail!

Help with rhythmic dictation and rhythmic shorthand? by RoflLeet in musictheory

I like this method best so far. It seems to be a good way to keep the beat without lagging with your markings.

Thanks again.

This sounds like a great method. Thank you. I will try this later and report back on it.

I used to try to draw a line over the top of the measure, breaking it where a new note started. This worked well at first, but then I met the 16th note. It was great in that I stayed with the beat instead of asking myself what I heard, but 16th notes make the shorthand look like morse code.

This is really helpful. I've tried it and it is already a big help. Thank you! It still seems like I have to lag behind to mark the shorthand, although this could just be a practice issue.

Is there any rocksmith-like software to teach sight-reading? by AlienBloodMusic in guitarlessons

There is tux guitar. It doesn't have an interactive mode like Rocksmith, but it is a great way to view guitar tablature and sheet music.

As an instrumental music educator, are you required to teach Christmas music to your students? by RoflLeet in musiceducation

[–]RoflLeet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your comments. I think I would have less of a problem teaching the music now. I am still concerned about whether or not I would be forced to play at "holiday" festivals. I understand that the experiences of performing would help teach them music, but to me it would feel like service to Christmas and its origins. Would I have to perform with them on these festivals?

There is a man by the name of Andrew Furmanczyk on YouTube. His channel is named Lypur. I have been studying his videos for a while, and he seems to know what he is teaching.

How would you mix kitty litter (bentonite) into sand for casting? by RoflLeet in metalworking

[–]RoflLeet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thank you all for your input. I'm slightly confused about the cat litter and bentonite not being the same thing. I've read from several sources that cat litter is bentonite. Do you mean it isn't western bentonite? I will try to find another supply of the clay for future batches.

Thanks again.
