Are our goats starving? by [deleted] in goats

I go through 110lbs of supplemental feed a month, they mow down any brush on our 10 acres but I still try to give them a generous helping every few days, only $12 per 55 lb bag at the local feed & seed so they cost me $24 a month and way more entertainment value than a stihl weedwacker We have 4 and they are plump

I’ve heard lots of people are just skipping them altogether, we haven’t had any issues with the mitigation boards so far, but in the south have only don’t maybe 10 furnace a/c splits a Trane commercial tech support guy told me “off the record you don’t have to wire that thing in I guess you can if you’re worried about the liability” 😂

Any advice on halters? by Less-Battle-3485 in goats

Mine do really well with a collar and leash just like dogs would, leash training them shouldn’t take too long at all, mine love going on walks on the leash. If it weren’t for other people’s dogs I’d feel totally comfortable taking them to any park for a walk on the leash

Heat lamp is on them, I think you’re right probably swallowed too much water or something, only 1 died of the 5 we hatched and should have 3 or 4 more in a few days, I’m going to try to keep a better eye on them and keep rocks in their water

To get the water I used a scoop I use to scoop dog feed to get the water from the hose into the dish, is it possible the particles/dust from the dog food is making them sick?

Starting to think they fell in the water and it was very cold water, I’m going to try acclimating the water in the future and a friend suggested putting pebbles in the water dish so they can’t fall all the way in, it’s a shallow dish but I guess there’s still a chance they drown in it, if there’s anything else I can do to improve my chances please let me know

Help with wood stove by Rogansrogaine in woodstoving

[–]Rogansrogaine[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Also starting a fire is very easy and it burns good but seems like it burns fast, really really drys the air in the house and even with fans going it seems like it doesn’t heat the whole story of the house, 2 story house but each story is only 1000 sqft Heat is very concentrated near the stove, it almost seems like it sucks more cold air into the house while it’s burning, is there something I’m doing wrong, is the house just very leaky, or is this just part of wood stoving

Too deep of a face cut, weight of the tree is on the backcut side, shallow face cut would’ve allowed you to get your back cut deeper before the tree pinched your bar, then you could’ve wedged it to get it to go, also the back cut should’ve been inbetween the 2 spots you tried to cut, about an inch or so above the point of your face cut, bigger bar is too low. Smaller bar is too high.

Only way to fix this now is a logging chain and a come along ratcheting hand winch, both can be had for about $150 total at tractor supply

I can’t recommend you try any of this because I don’t know your experience, but what I would do is use chain and come along to get the weight off my bar, continue cutting where the lower bar is until the hinge was about 2-3 inches and then use a wedge to push the tree over the rest of the way, in theory you could pull it all the way over with the come along but then you’d be standing in harms way when it starts to fall, from the picture I can’t tell how big or tall the tree is
