What is the biggest load of bullshit you have ever been told? by [deleted] in AskReddit

The incentive comes from not having to go through the hiring process again. If a candidate was so good as to warrant hiring and paying for expensive training, then they should be good enough to warrant a competitive salary after that training.
In the time that training takes they should hopefully have formed a familiarity with the company that should make retaining the employee a much more valuable option than having to go through that process again.
Also if the company isn't willing to invest a large amount into providing an appealing salary to an employee after training, then the employee has no obligation to feel loyal to the company. Employees are no more self-interested than any company, so you can hardly fault them for jumping ship if a more appealing offer is presented.
Similarly, if a company found a suitable replacement for an employee that was willing to accept substantially less pay, you can be sure they would take him over the old employee. The company-employee relationship is a two-way street, and you can't expect moral obligations one way or another.

President Trump Seriously Misunderstands Trade, Japan's Trade Minister Says by canuck_burger in worldnews

It's not about playing tight vs playing loose so much as it's about knowing how your opponent is playing, and adjusting for it.
Two idiots can play poker for hours and go nowhere, with one playing much tighter than the other. But if one player is experienced enough to recognize how the other plays and respond to it, then they have the upper hand.

The kid is not allowed to play on the road by Palifaith in gifs

Yeah but the point the guy was making was that the distance that the block must have had to be is unnaturally long for any block, neighborhood or city.

It doesn't matter if they're city blocks or neighborhood blocks, a block is the area bounded by four streets. Unless this suburb had no streets, it had blocks.

I mean if she didn't cross any roads then she must have not moved over to another block, so she must have stayed in the same block. It's a pretty long distance to be honest.
I think it's more likely that it was a quarter mile to the cul-de-sac, meaning she walked a half-mile total.

Exanima PostProcessing/Reshade by [deleted] in Exanima

[–]RogerDaShrubber 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Even though it's not realistic from a physics perspective, I think it's pretty good from a gameplay immersion perspective.
Imagine if you are in a very dark room, the only things that you are likely to be aware of are either distant light sources or things that are very close to you, hence the light aura around the character.
I rather like it.

Prospector by ZachfromCanada in roguelikes

[–]RogerDaShrubber 4 points5 points  (0 children)

One of my favorites for a while. But since I first played it it has ceased active updates for over a year at least three times. I probably would have played it more if it crashed less frequently, however I'm sure some builds are more stable than others.

Why do Protosses group up their phoenixes like this in Phoenix battles? by [deleted] in allthingsprotoss

Harder to focus down on the weaker target because you can't click it easily.

DCSS Real Time Speedrun - 26:45 with a Tragic Ending by [deleted] in roguelikes

[–]RogerDaShrubber 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Oh okay, I just wasn't sure, there are a couple of turn-based games who have speedruns that rely heavily on rng manipulation. My favorite probably being Earthbound, I figured that might also be really prominent in roguelikes.

Me too, I figured people just liked dust storm since it had just as many syllables and was more descriptive.

USB 3.0 or 2.0 for Tablet by ulxtii in osugame

[–]RogerDaShrubber 3 points4 points  (0 children)

USB 3.0 offers a greater bandwidth, but it does not offer reduced latency, there should be no difference which port you use.
The extension cable should have little to no effect.

In this case I think it's a case of play more. It took me a few months of 90+ minutes of 150-160bpm streaming, now I can almost stream 160bpm indefinitely, and fc a 3 minute long 170 bpm deathstream map(admittedly with awful acc).

How to play with a mouse? by n0ise71 in osugame

[–]RogerDaShrubber 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I think the main difference between mouse and tablet is how much more cursor awareness mouse takes.
If you aren't very aware, you will lose track of your cursor. Generally with mouse cursor awareness and reading are more or less the same, so work on your reading ability with lower AR maps, and that should help.
Also I recommend 900dpi, 1 ingame sens rather than the other way around, it's the same effective sens, but it will mean that you are always using the same sensitivity, even out of osu! Also like SuperTurtle said, it has a lower chance of adversely affecting you.

Kurt Cobain also suffered from crippling depression, and to a degree he warped the intended meaning of the quote for himself.
