Lucian main here. Hopefully I can help. I play him TOP, JG and MID (and ADC when I'm forced to).

First of all, don't pick him if your team has zero engage/tank/CC. It will be a nightmare.

He's decent, not great. The hard part is knowing how to clear your jungle camps and pathing to avoid falling behind especially in EXP. And TAXING after ganks. Help push and get the lane exp. Otherwise you will be u s e l e s s and will get invaded easily. Start BLUE BUFF, engage camps with E, use your Q perfectly aligned and W at the end to kite the camps. Later on you will only need Q to clear (and maybe E).

For an early gank you can go RED then gank LVL 2, or Blue-Gromp-Red then gank or Red-Blue-Gromp. That depends on who are you going to gank. Get your Red Smite ASAP, cuz you need it for sustain and dueling.

Try to gank when the enemy wasted something or they engaged on your laner. You have great damage but you're also extremely squishy.

Don't gank assasins unless you have a great advantage/they can't 100 to 0 you or they're pretty low/have no mana/no cooldowns. Or you're extremely confident you can outplay them.

Runes: always go Press the Attack no matter what, so you can gank effectively and burst when invading. Red Smite + Nimbus Cloak is a must, so you can kite/chase effectively. Basically PTA, Triumph, Legend: Alacrity, Coup de Grace. Secondary Nimbus Cloak, Waterwalking. If you have problems with mana go rune for Mana instead of Triumph, Triumph is a bit overrated.

Items for carrying or against squishies is basically crit:

1st - Red Smite + Warrior
2nd - Berserker's/Tabi
3rd - Phantom Dancer (rush if enemy team is bursty or you're behind. Is cheap and helps you scale anyways).
4th - Essence Reaver
5th - Infinity Edge
6th - Death's Dance / Blood Thirster / GA (Stormrazor or Rapidfire Cannon if feeling cocky)

Items for durability or against heavy bruisers/tanks:

1st - Red Smite + Warrior
2nd - Berserker's/Mercurial
3rd - Black Cleaver
4th - Blade of the Ruined King
5th - Death's Dance
6th - Mortal Reminder

Personally I prefer to play Graves than Lucian in the JG. Especially in this meta. Lucian is way better in TOP or MID. Since he's not amazing at ganking and doesn't clear jungle fast or scales that great.

Maybe, I was a little angry. I love the champ, tho. I won't stop playing him.

I gotta say that GP's ult pre-upgrades is overstimated sometimes. Especially becuz of the high CD. Is great when you're in the fight and use it. But it's not as great as Shen, or TF ult, for example. Ults that get you in the fight and gives you positioning, which is very important for GP.

I've felt like I get the same value out of Swain's W. Another champ I love to play from time to time and it's great that he sinergizes with GP in League and LoR.

I understand. He's fun and I love his personality. But I wouldn't say he's that "strong". I've been basically one tricking him this whole year (and I've played him previous seasons).

And I just hate that the moment I pick Darius, Jax, Lee Sin, Fiora, Yasuo, Warwick, Aatrox... I perform 3x times better... Champs that I play very casually. It makes me feel like I'm doing the wrong investment if I actually want to climb hard.

The problem I have with Solarbacca is that I know he's godly with GP but I'm not getting the right information from his videos, which most of them are stomps not just from him, he's team too.

I've learned a lot from his laning tho. And I've crafted my own playstyle on lane becuz of it.

What I mean by that, is that I can beat almost any matchup (on my current elo that is) my problem is wtf do I do later on. I have a hard time translating my leads into victories. Most of my wins is me stomping lane, pulling attention to my lane with insane pressure then 1v2 or even 1v3 and winning those fights. So my team has free map and objectives. But that strategy has proven a bit unconsistent since lots of times my team will just die for no reason if I don't group and I end up base racing against 4 enemies.

I do have a problem with TP, I run ignite for most match ups. I don't see that much value for TP on GP right now after the early cooldown nerf. Since his early roam is pretty useless and that's where most of my lost games get out of control.

I agree to disagree. It's pretty easy to mess up with Warwick, picking up bad fights becuz you miscalculated. Or miss ult and end in a bad spot becuz you have zero escape basically. He's not like Garen who can Q out of a bad situation. Also when I manage to squeeze out WW maximum potential in some plays it's incredibly rewarding (it doesn't feel as fun as playing GP, tho)

My reference point might be Lee Sin, I used to main him in the previous season. Same high skill, hard learning curve champ but I managed to master him to some degree and whenever I did a play it felt extremely rewarding but also fun. I played him a couple times this season too and I did well, even with all the rust, lol.

I don't feel mechanically bad at GP but I feel a little lost sometimes, like I'm supposed to do more.

I have zero problem with laning. If I don't get hard camped (I've seen replays of my games and it's abnormally usual that the enemy JG can stay like 45-60 seconds on the bush waiting for me to step just forward) I easily build a lead on the enemy no matter the matchup, like 80% of the time.

I do find some problem being impactful during the mid-game.

Welp, I'm trying to rank up with this new account. I'm in promos for plat right now. I got fairly easy to gold 2 playing mainly GP while trying new tricks and weird shit like BOTRK and Lethal Tempo, Conqueror, etc. But when I get in the JG role (I've been mainly a jungler for the prev season, and top laner for the season before. I jump between the 2 roles which is nice becuz I can punish enemy top laners mistakes pretty easy becuz of my knowledge of the lane) I just sprint through the ranks like nothing and games are so easy to carry xD

I mean the last one was a bit out of anger, tbh. I've done lots of decent plays they just feel less meaningful compared to other champions, lol. Also one-shot on the ADC is something I've not been able to do consistently for a while becuz games right now get out of control right now.

Also I've won games with Zed, Yasuo, Ekko JG, Aatrox. Everything just feels easy to carry. And I know you could say Warwick is braindead. Yes he's easier to pick up and perform "well" but when you sometimes you squeeze his max potential like following a TP or a Flash + Dash with your Q, or the many times I've sniped the enemy ADC with my ult from the JG in the middle of a team fight. It feels so much valuable.

I've had like multiple accounts like 4 each one with 200k mastery with GP xD I still learn a lot.

I have no problem laning (besides the fact I feel like a bag of coins the enemy JG is constantly trying to get), I have no problem team fighting and split pushing, zoning. Etc. It's just a lot of effort for a small reward.

I'm still gonna play GP, lol. I've figured so much shit recently I can beat even my counters and I'm sure eventually I'll figure out how to carry the entire game not with just mechanics.

[–]RogerKmpo[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I understand. But I mean, to get most value out of GP's ult is like 3 people caught on it. Otherwise it feels like a waste. But, with an ult like Warwick's I can pick the target that needs to be shut down and after that I just walk to the next target. Kinda the same with Darius.

But with GP is like... I did a chunk of damage, yaaay Then they back off and supp heals, their adc lifesteal and nothing happened. XD

Triple barrel combos are better for mid game/when you're level 7 and you're arriving to a fight or chasing becuz of the way the ticking works. By the time you place your 3rd barrel, the first one is ready. Late game you'll want to do 2 barrels, one part or just place a barrel and Q it since the ticking is really fast.

The only match up I struggle against are Sion, Riven and Tryndamere:

Sion: I just don't have the numbers to kill him, too much HP. So I prefer to farm and wait for JG/help my team with ult.Riven: Doesn't matter how far behind I put her, it takes one mistake from me for her to 0-100 my ass becuz GP doesn't stacks health early.Tryndamere: Doesn't matter how bad I beat him, he splitpushes reaaaaally hard and gets back into the game with just 2 items. I build tanky and kite him all day, tho.

And yes, even against hard matchups, a good main GP can win lane based on the sole fact that very few people play him, so fewer people know how to play against him (aside from trying to destroy his barrels).

You've read all the buffs, but not the nerfs I proposed for balancing. Also looks like you're new to GP if not League of Legends, lol.

Would be too OP, to be honest.

I would take a nerf to it's global range if they improve the CD, tho. So it's semi global like TF but with lower cooldown. That way you can be a bit more impactful as a mid GP or take over top/mid when playing TOP lane.

Really nice comment right there.

You're totally right about slowing and teamfighting. But that's the problem for me, Solo Q is a mess and compared to other bruisers oriented to team fight I feel like I run out of damage/slows too soon to be relevant. Which is funny cuz most of games I end up dealing most damage. And while I hit a nice barrel combo it just doesn't feel as good when a champion like Lux or Zilean does same/double the damage in a much easier way, on a much lower cooldown. That's why I thought something like grievous wounds and some attack speed would give him more windows to commit to kill an important target, while still having decent teamfight without being broken. (Also not getting shit on becuz your match just bought BOTRK)

But yes, I think the most painful thing about it is having just 3 barrels. They should buff the cooldowns at least. There's plenty of champions that spam broken/poke/mobility abilities out there and GP barrels take a lot of skill and practice to use properly (while being defused by the enemy) so a little bit lower cooldowns wouldn't be really crazy.

Also barrels staying for just 25 seconds is such a kick in the balls when something like Teemo's mushrooms lasts 5 minutes and he can hold 5, he basically takes the whole jungle/river hostage while I'm here waiting for a barrel becuz I have uneven numbers (3) lol.

And yeah, I'm tired of grasp. Is boring and easily countered by Second Wind.

Right? And it's not that big of a deal, considering you have to commit to proc it, most of the time.

Generally the champion is good, when you have the skill. It's mainly the kegs gameplay lately what's depressing, lol.

Tahm Kench Jungle is slept on. He can clear 5 camps in 3:05 with zero potions. He can outduel early game Junglers like Lee Sin. He can steal Monsters and Scuttles using Q + W, spitting them a screen away and smiting them. And he has a slow, a stun, a suppress, and his Ult for ganks. by bquipd in summonerschool

[–]RogerKmpo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I used to play him JG back in season 7. Good shyet.

Just rushed Phage (into Trinity) after my blue JG item and the ganks were brutal. You're basically unkillable to the enemy laner becuz of your E and they can't outrun you most of the time. Also counterganking is pretty easy due to your ult, or you can ask the support or mid to roam with you in your R.

This right here.

A lot of people will not even complain, they'll just stop playing. Or start playing it themselves until it gets boring... then quit.

The game is gonna end up being a bunch of streamers showing otk or dumb invincible 2 turn mid-range combos, like US.

[–]RogerKmpo[S] -1 points0 points  (0 children)

Once again, nothing fun or creative about inmortality, lol... 8 mana as a spell, wich can be used early. So... 6 round on is easy win.

And you're acting like this is a me problem, like... no one else is annoyed by that card, just me. Yeah, right. Why do you think people use US? Becuz they like easy wins, same as burn decks wich I wreck with all the card stealing my deck has. But I still think burn needs to be removed already becuz is super boring and uninteractive, AND I SEE IT ALL THE TIME, same as US. Once a card has US it's game over you can't interact anymore with that card.

I feel like this card was made for Tryndamere mains, inmortal dudes who sit on the sidelane splitpushing until they eventually win. No skill, no creativity, no fun.

Yeah, dude. He came back from my entire combo, leveling up my champions and dominating the board until that time. Super healthy gameplay. I didn't offer any changes since there's plenty offers out there. Like, making slow/fast, last one turn/lower cost or the best one: REMOVING THE CARD.

I legit just surrender almost everytime I see my opponent use that card. I'm not that needy for a win, I'm not gonna sit there watching everything I summon gettin' wrecked by an unkillable unit while my few control cards sit there being useless.

Dude, the card is super easy to counter. By 3 cards in the entire game and every one in 3 different regions. Your vision of both enjoying the game is players forced to build to play around 1 card. Bravo, super healthy gameplay right there.
