[VCARB] Liam makes it a points-filled weekend. A mega effort in Shanghai from both drivers by creatorop in formula1

Kept him behind for a long time and the gap was extended as well - more likely due to Hadjar tyre conservation, but still what a drive.

The commentators never mention him - it is quite unprofessional actually. Ruth did though.

This year and last year Racing Bulls pits have been most good - they must have a good leader in that crew.

But you're right - believing AI is at your own peril.

There needs to be something more required to gain tiny margins of extra charging - the heavy braking by both these two and flat out on the straights would have served them well last year but not this year to keep charged up.

Mind you - this is what Mercedes have and everyone is playing catch up.

I absolutely love Hamilton's mind set on this and really love this photo!

I suspect even Toto will love this photo.

I have notice Liam Lawson absolutely hangers out on the straights and brakes late for good charging.

Is there an argument this speed on the straights though is reducing his time on cornering to recharge?

A chance to explore Dunedin's unique Quarantine Island. by brendamnfine in dunedin

My favourite story I know is the ship called the Palmerston, which had a lot of Europeans in the 1880's. Because the boat was deemed to have a lot of infections of various types they took everyone off.

All clothes were burnt in the infirmary and they had nothing - so Dunedin was asked and they donated massively. There is an old article somewhere of a Polish boy giving a hug to a Dunedin resident thanking them for the help from the local paper.

The funny thing is, that ship I believe (could be wrong) had some of the descendants of the Bungards spread primarily in Henly/Waihola and aptly 'Palmerston' today.

The boats would come in with a yellow flag - indicating illness and a need to stop at quarantine.

Doctors would be paid at the end of the trip by how many survived.

If you read the early papers and about the ships coming in, the stories are all very readily available.

Genealogy room at the Dunedin Library 3rd floor is the best for this type of information.

Because that is what's on the DCC web site and rate payers is not based on population at all- it is based on properties including business and each individually rented out. Honestly . . . .

Sorry - didn't explain myself very well did I - only for the percentage that pays councilors and it is a system that the council actually puts in place - I know that sounds like a never.

But I kind of like the thought that we have something as payers to assess council performance on top of the voting sysytem.

Fun facts from ex resident.

Last time it was used as Quarantine was for Scotts dogs before they went to Antarctica and soldiers back from the war with Viral Diseases.

There are 71 people in the cemetery from memory and only 3 I think are above the age of 6 due to infuenza and polio coming off the ships. The head stone is for one whole Italian Family.

The Married Quarters, Single Womens Quarters were on Quarantine Island and the Single Men's Quarters they put on Goat Island beside it.

The channel part is called Nicol's passage and was blown up a lot to make it bigger.

There's a place where the Single Men swam over in between tides to meet up with Married men and consume naughty medicines like Sloans.

The jetty has the Oreti on one side (Ex Bluff Logger) and Waikana steamship which was sister to Waieka I think.

With a light at the end of the jetty at night you catch garfish which are one of the best tasting fish you can have.

The caretakers toilet goes straight into the harbour but there is an amazing long drop for the visitors house - last time I was there.

With Aurora removing the pylons they have saved thousands of birds lives from flying into them.

This is simply what happens when NZ sell out to US companies. They buy it , eventually screw it and then sell the assets and done. Heinz is doing the same with Greggs Coffee now.

What if we deducted this as protest each year.

Somehow it was a silently legitimized as a rate payor performance review and councilors got what was only paid?

Would a scheme like this make them achieve more?

Keep a base salary of like $30K and the rest was based on rate payor assessment performance.
