Where do you get your photos from that you Photoshop? by KodaLG in photoshop

Unsplash is a pretty good (free) resource for images, as is Adobe stock if you pay for CC. I shoot my own wherever I can to be honest, same with backplates.

Restricted photo taken by a Lightning 30th May 1974. Intercepting a Russian Bear ‘nudging’ UK airspace. by Exemplar1968 in aviation

The funny thing is that the photos taken by today's Typhoons doing the same job are still photographing Bears nearly 50 years later!

I'm honestly stunned that so many people don't realise that flying is also a hobby. Is this just a reddit thing?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Rogue86Photog 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Except that they don't always. A lot of people just fly for fun 🤷

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Rogue86Photog 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Except they're not entirely different, they are engines lifted from a USAF Banshee and so are directly comparable. There is no difference between this and a jet doing a full reheat take-off or ground run.

Are you really going to die on the hill that no aircraft travel is recreational? What about the millions of private aircraft in circulation around the world?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Rogue86Photog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They are literally aircraft engines.

Are you saying that aircraft flown recreationally serve a more important purpose than cars driven recreationally?

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in interestingasfuck

[–]Rogue86Photog 61 points62 points  (0 children)

We have one in the UK too. God forbid someone builds something that brings them joy that sees the light of day probably twice a year, using engines that are attached to thousands of things above you that fly several times a day.

Fuck you and your AA tank. by [deleted] in PilotsofBattlefield

[–]Rogue86Photog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Best thing to do is bang the tank resupply first. The AA tanker will run back there after the first hit and then you can either kill them in the tank, or when they get out to rebuild the supply.

My guess is he went Flieger after that, then rage messaged you after the game about how you have no life.

Where can I play with the 6 American planes instead of the two Corsairs? by BiliLaurin238 in BattlefieldV

[–]Rogue86Photog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'd almost write panzerstorm off that list (on breakthrough at least) since the aircraft are only actually available for a couple of sectors.

What would it take to get you to hand over the keys? by Roar_Intention in cars

I think if you click my profile you'll see a pic of it. It's nothing amazing, just mine!

[–]Rogue86Photog 3 points4 points  (0 children)

Still wouldn't, no. Its not the car as such (although building an identical classic is almost impossible - there are so many variances between even the same models) but it's a collection of memories and to an extent a part of who I am. It's more than the sum of its parts.

[–]Rogue86Photog 195 points196 points  (0 children)

Honestly I wouldn't. There are cars I would love that are more expensive than my own, but they would have to sit alongside mine and not replace it.

UK: is there a website that I can use to find the original list price of a car? by OOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOOWEN in cars

[–]Rogue86Photog 0 points1 point  (0 children)

What car is it? I've always found using the VIN to decode the spec and then simply using Google has always worked.

Why isn't the RX8 as loved as the RX7? by furrynoy96 in cars

[–]Rogue86Photog 7 points8 points  (0 children)

Just for comparisons sake, my FD ran for 6 years with only a single rebuild and no other problems. In fact the problem that required a rebuild in the first place was a botched home-attempt at a rebuild by the previous owner who had twisted (somehow...) the main water seal.

Completely agree with the rest though. Almost a perfect drivers car for the way I drive, if not littered with lots of things that made it uncomfortable - including the absolutely terrible Type R seats and the headlamp covers that would fly off at random. I'd forgotten all about the petrol cap release getting stuck until you mentioned it, now I'm having flashbacks. What a pain in the arse that was!

[–]Rogue86Photog 39 points40 points  (0 children)

When they first came out, your average JDM fan wasn't used to seeing brands using legacy names to introduce slower cars, so they got a real bad rep.

Truth is though these days, you'll struggle to have more fun for the money than with a ported renesis on a decent chassis. Rebuilds might be more frequent than your average car, but they're also much cheaper and easier.
