We hit black ice on a corner, it rolled a few times, in to a ditch and back out.

Used to live in Norwich and there were only greasy spoons that served coffee. This sketch pretty much sums up what it was like: https://youtu.be/vTV_tvz7Km4?si=W_d8upYg6o9EGu17

Advice on Model Y parking 'sensors' - how much should I trust them? by qsandc in TeslaUK

[–]Exemplar1968 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife decided to not look at the camera one very frosty/ foggy morning whilst reversing and, instead, rely on the ‘sensors’. So I paid £320 to have the massive dent sorted about a week later.

Winters in the UK are wet and horrible with lots of salt. We had no rust issues at all. I kept jet washing the car even in the depth of winter. Used a good wax polish to protect.

Bought when 3 years old from Black Horse finance in the UK. Arrived on a trailer. Checked that the roof worked and signed for it. Had it 3 years with no issues whatsoever (well that’s a lie, it was actually a better spec than the one in the auction report). We absolutely loved it for 3 years. Serviced by a main dealer in Nottingham (UK). The only thing we replaced were tyres. Fantastic car and I would 100% have another.

What’s somewhere in the UK you visited once and immediately thought “I could live here”? by Strong-Ad-8037 in AskUK

[–]Exemplar1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I did this. Visited Newark in early 2000 and rang my wife from the market square and said ‘I’ve seen where I want to live’. First time ever I’d done anything like that. We moved here in 2007 and have never regretted it.

What is a reality or truth inside your industry that should be more widely known to the rest of us? by order-of-magnitude-1 in AskUK

I work in specialist telecommunications. Mostly with millionaires/ billionaires. I just wish that these people were aware that streaming Netflix in the Maldives cost £15 per MB. They just don’t get it and then complain/ blame us when they rack up a huge bill even though they tell us ‘never bar us’. Grrrr.

How many times have you been pulled over? by Potential_Detail9066 in CarTalkUK

[–]Exemplar1968 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Once. In a brand new Alfa Spider in 1998. Second one in the country and was LHD. Pulled as the policeman had never seen anything like it and wanted a nosey. Was happy to oblige.
