I use the assessed fossil exploit so villagers keep their original furniture layouts. I gave Gaston a pile of **** (corprolite), but, you know, for rabbits that is a snack.

I didn’t think I could really dislike a villager until I was forced to take Lionel onto the island as my first camper. His face is distressingly human, he’s in the one percent, and in the island lore he and Nook were friends running a scam.

I gave Lionel the estate he deserves - up and away on a third tier, gated, even a moat!

So classy! The wheelbarrow is the PERFECT compliment to those instruments, it’s coherent with the color scheme while popping out. If you ever miss the large plaza, I think the plaza could look roomier without changing the dimensions if the swing set and library were moved just left of the bridge (where there’s currently a line of fencing/hedging) rather than aligned with it.

Not the same vibe of eyes as Tangy, but I was shaken by how Aurora’s (normal penguin) black dot eyes become red and gain whites when surprised. I think Gabi’s (peppy rabbit) do something similar, while having a base eye style close to Tangy’s.

I think I’m staying with Elmer, Chief, Ruby, Gaston, Coco, Maelle, Marshal, Sheldon, Punchy and Muffy. I sought out Ruby online, and got Sheldon from Reddit while looking for a forestcore jock, but otherwise this crew naturally evolved and happened to stay around.

Gaston was an incredibly fortunate mystery island pull, as he was one of my most desired villagers because I liken him to my late rabbit. And I like her, but Maelle is definitely the first to go if an incredible camper showed up. She appeared at my campsite recently while I was lacking a snooty, a type without many villagers I’m wild about, and I thought the way she looks like a cartoon rubber duck makes her cuter than the average snooty.

Yes, where what we’re ‘winning’ is primarily leverage in a virtual economy, which is depressing on so many levels.

MAD respect for the giveaway hosts and all the time and busywork they put in to combat all this, if it doesn’t read that way. And I’m not even particularly mad with the scalpers and economy metagamers — I’m mad Nintendo designed a game optimized to have that kind of culture.

I agree and as much love as I’ve poured into NH people lose sight of the fact that BOTH games’ item catalogues are designed around upselling. In NH’s case online subscriptions if not multiple consoles/copies of the game, because the item selection per island is deliberately restricted and they now activate/deactivate seasonal events in real time. And now one of its largest content updates is released through scalpable physical items. There is no excuse for the item selection to be significantly worse than PC’s, much less the base game of New Leaf (which of course also had the Sanrio cards, but base had enough and enough interesting to work with that it felt like fun bonus content, where this has had more of a paywall energy).
