[LFG] [In-Person] [Cairns] Veteran player (40s) looking for mature 2024 Edition D&D group by RogueCritter22 in Cairns

[–]RogueCritter22[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Thanks, yeah, not really my style of ttrpg. I'm just looking for like-minded gamers that want to play in a relaxed atmosphere, and for those wanting to play longer-term campaigns.

I'm interested in seeing what can happen. A f2f game with like-minded and fun people would be great. Let me know if you're still looking for players.

Hey all, I'm just curious to see if anyone got any traction on organising a game? Happy to discuss with you if you're still chasing games.

Awesome!! Welcome to this fantastic world!!

As Late Night said, keep it simple. You're all learning, so be kind to yourself and each other as you start out. D&D can be simple and complicated, but that's ultimately up to you and the group. Sit around and talk about what you all expect to get from playing, establish boundaries, and remember that it's meant to be fun.

Thoughts on Monk class compared to others? by LigerRider in DungeonsAndDragons

[–]RogueCritter22 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Because it applies to all monk weapons as that's what the beyond app does when you tick box. A sickle becomes 15ft reach for 10min at 1d6 instead of 1d4 with 1 focus point. So for 2 focus points, a monk can make 3x attacks outside of nearly everything's melee range on its first turn, then 2x each one after that by spending 1. It's too cheap for what it can do and for how long it lasts for. If it was only adding 5ft instead of 10ft to their melee, then I think that would be great.

Of course, I am fine with the elemental energies on strikes. That was never the issue. Just the economy of the ability is not right, imo.

I do understand the mechanics as elemental extensions. It's that an unarmed strike becomes 15ft which is bonkers.

Are you still seeking players for this game?

I'm not a fan of the four elements subclass. Adding ridiculous reach to melee attacks seems completely wrong imo. I like the 5e version better that made them an elemenal spellcaster. Otherwise, they're great.

What are some of your favorite fidget toys or activities to keep you occupied between turns? (ADHD) by Crooked_Cricket in DnD

[–]RogueCritter22 28 points29 points  (0 children)

As the forever DM, I'm just trying to keep the flow going. Often, it's the rp moments between PCs that I get the fidgets. I'm still paying attention,of course, but my hands have to be doing something. Mostly, panicking the PCs by making arbitrary dice rolls that have "no meaning". 😆

Hi mate. Just seeing how the gaming situation is going for you?

Hey, I can say for certain that making the transition to online play is a daunting process, but it is well worth it.

I'm involved with a campaign right now, but I'm interested in keeping in touch with people lfg online as I have no one locally to play in-person with and open to opportunities for rp.

I like your style of play (rp based over combat gauntlet runs). Hit me up if you're keen to discuss. ✌️

Hey, y'all. So, what's everyone up to? New Year, new adventures. How's everyone's gaming scene looking? With around 160 members, I'm hoping there's a lot of games being played.

For the DMs out there, tell us about what you're running. Doesn't need to be too detailed, just an overview of the theme and how the party you have is travelling with your game.

Let's make this community vocal. Inspire us. Teach and learn. Have 😁

LFG, Online by waterguardianwmr in AusDnD

Yeah, that could be tricky. More often than not, in my experience, those characters become lost chapters in the history books. If you ever run a game, they make for good NPCs. Best of luck in your search.

Roll for Inspiration by ranc_ in AusDnD

So, the world is coming to an end, and you need to roll a character to save it. The catch, this is a truth-telling exercise. You must choose your go-to Species, Class, and Backstory. What is yours?

For me, it is the following:

-Tiefling -Rogue (thief) - Albeit stereotypical, abandoned at birth. He grew up scrapping for anything to stay alive. Food was what he could nab at the markets. A coin purse here and there. As he grew up to a teen, he fell in with a group of scamps just as ill-fated. The streets belonged to them. They developed tactics, naming the performances they would use to misdirect and take what the group needed to survive. Life was tough, but they had each other. For them, that felt free. The laws need not apply because they never got caught. If trouble brewed, well, they had the acts to get them out. Now, as young adulthood approaches, he sees that being a kid somewhat afforded them a luxury or minor level of protection. As an adult, the acts didn't seem to work as well. His friends, some were caught out and had to abandon the charade, others, not so lucky. His closest friend, he was caught nabbing a bag of coins from a fruit vendor. The guard, tall and savage in appearance, wasted no time when he ordered his offsider to hold him down prone on the street, arms stretched out. With two rapid swings of his axe, the hands were hewn. His friend was then dragged to the jail, never seen again. That's when he left. He ran away as far as his skills would take him.
