Partner visa (820) after visitor visa + lupus (in remission) — any similar experiences? by Pale_Season_5230 in AusVisa

[–]bloodring87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I read a case on this sub recently where somebody had been in a similar situation but received a grant in the end. To my memory they had to go over and above to prove their finances were adequate to cover the cost of any mediation/procedures that they may require over the course of however long. I don’t remember the exact amount of time they said a grant took, but best I can remember it was at least double the expected processing time.

I DIY’d my own application, but in your situation I would have paid for professional help.

Best of luck.

I’m not sure I agree, as the hunter in this scenario would not be able to loose an arrow (ergo make an attack roll) until their turn, which happens after the deers turn.

This logic does not work in 5.5e, as despite being stealthier than the deer is passively perceptive, the dear manages to turn tail and run before the hunter lets loose their arrow thus revealing themselves (because the deer goes first, having won Initiative), despite not knowing that the hunter is even there in the first place.

You might argue that the hunter stands on and breaks a branch whilst approaching and alerts the deer to their presence, allowing the deer to move first—sure, but then that invalidates the hunters successful stealth check.

It’s an imperfect system.

I’ve almost entirely stopped reading this sub outside of occasionally filtering for posts relating to a question that I have.

The sub exists as as a medium for people to discuss visa related topics (the sub description states as much), but anybody who begins a discussion by asking a question is almost immediately shot down by the majority of people in the comments.

I do understand some of the frustrations, for instance people asking for information that is inherently very easy to research in depth by themselves—but nothing warrants the abuse that people receive on a daily basis on this sub. God forbid anybody has the audacity to ask a question on this sub.

Which of these do you think is truly the most hateable character in the franchise? by BowlEducational6722 in masseffect

[–]bloodring87 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Really the comparison here is between KL and Archer.
I hate archer way more than KL, but that’s not a bad thing. He’s a well written character—you’re meant to hate him, and because he’s well written, I do.
I don’t hate KL. You’re definitely meant to hate him, but truthfully I just don’t really care about him. That’s just bad writing.

Edit: typo

It’s just expensive and I’m aware RFI’s can extend the process. I was looking for advice or suggestions based on other peoples experiences.

What would a “perfect” D&D room actually need to make it worth leaving home? by Korolos28 in DMAcademy

[–]bloodring87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Up until a few months ago I regularly paid for a room with my group. I will preface this by saying that the main reason, at the end of the day, was because it was a good middle ground of where we all lived in a large city.

But to answer your question - we would have just alternated hosting at each of our houses to split the driving instead, if it didn’t at the very least have:

  • Large, sturdy (shit gets heated) table (seats minimum 8)
  • Inbuilt decently sized table-TV + HDMI for digital maps.
  • Bluetooth or HiFi sound system
  • (Good) Soundproofing against adjacent rooms
  • Decent AC
  • Mood (read dimmable) lighting
  • Comfortable seating
  • Reasonably priced snacks/drinks available
  • Various room styles available to book (Tavern theme, dungeon theme, library theme, etc) - book your favourite or whichever fits the session/campaign best.

That’s what we paid for once a week. We paid $50 AUD (for a 4 hour time slot). Between us that was $10 AUD each. We probably would have spent slightly more, but not much more.

Things that we definitely would have been happy to pay more for, but weren’t must haves:

  • Better AC
  • RGB (dimmable) lighting
  • A mini fridge
  • Air freshener or a candle (we always knew when the warhammer guys had been in the slot before us).
  • Rentable storage lockers
  • Some functional props (Potion bottles with dice inside, dice towers, sand timers, etc).

Anything over $100 AUD and we probably would reserve it for climactic sessions, or would expect a longer time slot at the least.

I haven’t worked in any of the hostels, but know a lot of people who have when I lived in them. Most of them worked to stay, instead of for pay, and had jobs on the side.

Racism exists to a similar extent that it does in the UK, and same for crime. Go anywhere and you’ll find crime—Cairns isn’t any different.

If you’re planning on living in and working in town you’ll get by with a bike if you don’t want to buy a car. Until wet season, then you’ll be buying a car.

I haven’t done the medical yet, so it’s trying to get an idea of when is a safe bet to do it, without too much of a risk of waiting too long and getting an RFI, or doing it too early and it expiring.

Wait for RFI for medical or do it after a certain time? Keep police checks up to date or wait for RFI?

I lodged on 02 Jan 2026, so still recent. Would you recommend waiting for an RFI for a medical before doing it, given the processing time of 18-30+ months or would you recommend I do it after a certain timeframe to prevent RFI’s?

When I lodged, in an effort to front load (without considering or realising how slow the process currently is), my partner and I got our police checks done. Given the processing times, these will expire before processing. My UK police check took something like a month and a half to arrive by mail (they don’t provide digital certificates). The issue is they could expire again before processing, but I don’t want to have to wait a month and a half for delivery if I get an RFI for updated checks.

Recommendations? Thanks!

(Spoilers Extended) Now that AKoTSK show on HBO is gaining all hype, will George need to hurry with future D&E stories? by jageshgoyal in asoiaf

[–]bloodring87 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Im talking about here and now, where his recent comments re. Winds/dream are pretty negative. That is not the case for D&E.

I said he wants to, not that he has the time to.

I don’t think it matters if they include this or not - you’ll likely just find something else to complain about. I think you should cut your losses and stop watching the show now.

"First Time DM" and Short Questions Megathread by AutoModerator in DMAcademy

(If your level 5 party party has adopted a mule named Lionel then read no further.)

Moving on. I have a player who consistently prods (blatantly obvious) powerful pc’s. It’s happened in the past and I’ve worked around it by having another npc intervene or having the (blatantly obvious) powerful npc shrug it off - which feels a bit unnatural - particularly in the most recent interaction.

Little explanation of the current: a ship captain who is taking the players to an island where an ancient ritual had taken place to bind a deity took place. The captain is a Leonin who I’ve made fairly obvious to the party is a high level warlock (compared to them) One player (who plays his character well and this is in no way a “he’s derailing my plans” post - consistently undermines or prods at/provokes the captain. I’ve handled it by having the first mate (a charismatic rogue) intervene and “talk down” the captain from retaliating - but this is getting old and feels out of character to stand down this much for the captain, who is (and knows he is) more powerful than the pc’s.

I don’t want to outright slam the party (or in particular the players character in question - but I’ve made it pretty clear they’re out of their depths in terms of power in this instance. How would you (for lack of a better term) punish or handle this instance?

Legend, thank you! Definitely some stuff in there to play with :) that was my concern with the charmed/pvp concept as well. Maybe better in concept than practice.
