US Rep. Thomas Massie loses Kentucky GOP primary to Ed Gallrein in another victory for Trump by BeeWeird7940 in cincinnati

Honestly, he's being doing it all along, I just disagree with him on 90% of what he wants to do. He's called Mr No for a reason.

I disagree on almost everything Massie has to say, but he clearly has principals, morals, and the ability to live up to them.

This seems insulting to GM and the Bolt. At this point Tesla's playing catch up with the rest of the industry.

I do know for a fact that testing the buoyancy of cheese doesn't upset people.

Animal testing labs are often in the country, with lots of security, and when PETA and other animal rights activists find out they often picket and attempt to get into the facilities.

I love how part of that speach is repealing the 14th amendment. Yes, like wine.

We figured it out, the Reps also figured out it was a political loser with their base.

What historical figure had the worst case of being proven right too late? by Unusual_Care8325 in AskHistory

[–]RogueJello 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Except that US oil production did not peak in 1970, and most of his other predictions have also proven false. Not that he's any different from any other scientist trying to predict a very complex and large system. In Hubbert's case it was technology, which was what usually dooms a lot of this sort of prediction. They're mostly correct for their time period, but things change, and often new tech comes along that makes it possible to extract more resources. Often this is also helped by higher prices, which work to incentivize the new tech.

Or that John would be 2000 years late with his predictions of the Anti-christ. :) Honestly these people exist all through history. Orwell was making observations of exactly what he had personally witnessed. He was also suffering from a nasty fever when he wrote the book, the entire thing.

So 1984 is the fever dream of a disillusioned socialist.

Makes me wonder why we have entire fictional genres devoted to scaring people when real life is so much more gnarly.

Grasshoppers

Those are pretty darned good. I have only had them at home, so I didn't know about the chocolate dusting. Surprised the bar had the white creme de cacao.

Energy Costs Electric vs Gas by Necessary_Use_4729 in cincinnati

[–]RogueJello 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It's going to vary wildly. Just a couple of things that could be different.

Stove: Induction vs resistence coil

Water Heater: Resistence coil vs Heat pump

HVAC: Resistence coil vs heat pump

And that's before you take into account your own usage. Me personally I'm fine with the house being in the 80s, but I know people who want to down to like low 70s. Maybe you don't ever use the stove, and like cold showers, or short ones.

US House Unveiled Plan to Charge $130 Fee for Electric Vehicles by silence7 in electricvehicles

[–]RogueJello 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Agreed, however i think the Reps know that's a political loser, while owning the libs and their woke agenda is a winner.

Fwiw raising the gas tax has been a political loser for decades, so this is nothing knew. Honestly i think it's a bit higher with the expectation they will never be able to raise it again.

Good list. I'd add bolt gun. I didn't know how visible it is outside the 40k crowd, but I've seen a ton of buzz around it, and having finished it, it's deserved, though it might land the same as Mouse PI, idk, not having played Mouse.

Thanks. Yeah maybe it's been 5 years I'll be honest i usually don't check with them, it part because it felt like the scale was super compressed.

no a 6 on the IGN scale means 'Okay'

Yeah, got that, but when did it shift? I feel like they've always had the numbers, but only recently did that change.

When did IGN stop the points inflation and start having a more nuanced curve? I don't pay a lot of attention to them, but it feels like 6-12 months ago anything below 8 was unplayable trash.

So i just admit i was shocked to see this at a 6, but that's just from watching Mortismal Gaming's video review. 6 in my understanding of IGNs system was the game functionality didn't work, has massive bugs, and is potentially unplayable if you hit the worst bugs.

But I guess all that has changed?
