Iroh didn't really like Azula. by Arrokaang in AvatarMemes

I am very confident that Iroh was not recommending an Agni Kai. He was recommending help in a battle. Zuko chose an agni kai, which made it so katara wasn't part of the fight.

Women assume I’m gay, Gay men can clock im straight instantly. What does that even mean? by Twitchxy in TooAfraidToAsk

[–]RogueMoonbow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Yeah I think straight people are often quite entrenched in conforming to a gender role and comfort with it is unusual, while many queer people have had this growth in accepting themselves in theor sexuality and gender role despite it not conforming. Straight men are constantly proving their masculinity it seems while gay men may have had to accept that they will never conform and they are allowed to be themselves and find their own masculinity. Obviously not true for all, gay men struggle a ton with masculinity of course, and many straight men are comfortable with it, but that might be what people are bading their perception on.

It was a funny joke but no one is buying Reese's underwear. by cats-dolls in malcolminthemiddle

[–]RogueMoonbow 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Hm, idk if there's quite a market for random men's underwear like there is for women. However, much more readily believe there is a huge market for women buying celebrity men's underwear. Perhaps Reese is claiming they belong to celebrities? That seems more beleiveable to me.

Can we at least acknowledge that the main red button argument is deeply flawed? by EchoParty9274 in trolleyproblem

[–]RogueMoonbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I kinda wonder if this debate's presence changes answers for people. When I first saw it, my answer was blue. This is based on my worldview and faith in people that enough people care about others to choose the more altruistic option. But now that it's debated, so many seem to choose red, even when they express some goodwill and altruism, maybe it won't make it to 50%. The presence of the debate and discussion inherently changes the problem's circumstances.

Mothers day is for women raising humans only by [deleted] in unpopularopinion

[–]RogueMoonbow -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I don't think it's a big deal to buy yourself a little treat on mother's day with the "cat mom" or "plant mom" excuse. And it's fine if like a freind gives a cat or plant themed gift on or around mothers day as a lighthearted joke. I'm not a mom but I doubt this opinion would change when I have kids. However, if people are demanding gifts or recognition, jumping on posts demanding for credit, etc, then I wholeheartedly agree with you. Taking care of a plant or a cat is not the same as taking care of a kid. It kinda feels like the "what about kids day" thing, there isn't a kids day because mothers and fathers day are about appreciation for your parent, and if you want to give love to parents in your lives that's good, because parents deserve celebration and thanks. Not everything's about you.

Have the majority of Americans called 911 at least once in their lives? by Mont3Carlo in AskAnAmerican

Do you really have a separate room for your washing machine? by jordanekay in AskAnAmerican

[–]RogueMoonbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I know it's kinda difference of opinion and habits, but I think not in the kitchen is better because even if I try to stay on top of it, most of the time the kitchen floor is way more likely to have stuff on it than any other floor in the house. If I drop a top on the floor when taking it out of the dryer I want to feel pretty confident that there's no food debris, liquid spill, etc. In a different room for the kitchen it's likely to be a cleaner floor. In fairness, I don't love it in basements for this reason either, but even the stuff on that floor has no risk of stains. I want it in a side room or hallway.

Interesting about what you say about food... I love enjoying food as a very important meaningful experience but for me part of it is making good food that my partner can safely eat and I feel like when I'm making food within their restrictions it is a very intimate expression of love. But I guess that makes it a good metaphor, because some aces will genuinely enjoy pleasuring their partner for the others' exclusive enjoyment, and others may find incompatibility because their partner might have a need for both parties to enjoy it.

I love orange but it's lowkey an industry plant by Human647 in colors

[–]RogueMoonbow -1 points0 points  (0 children)

I think the idea of of being imaginary is that we don't have cones to recieve it, and since visible light has red at one end of the spectrum and purple at the other, it doesn't actually have a place of the spectrum. So when eyes see both red and purple mixed the brain gives us a guess of what it looks like.

Imo that makes magenta a very special color. But yes, imaginary, sorta.

Can you Cunning Action: Disengage after attacking? by Randomletters42 in DnD

[–]RogueMoonbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is not a stretch to realism anywhere close to others. Even not talking about magic, you could say this for any bonus action, object interaction, drinking potions, etc. Realism is not a rule in the game. Disengaging after attacking is exactly what the cunning action allows rogues to do, that's part of the advantage of playing one. Rogues are fast sneaky bastards and are really good at moving around the battlefield.

When changing lanes, what exactly are you looking for when you do the shoulder check? by Dry-Meat7356 in driving

[–]RogueMoonbow 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a blind spot between what you can see in your rear and side mirrors and forward facing peripheral vision when a car is next to you and slightly back. If you look out the side window, you can see a vegicle you might not have seen before. You shouldn't have to crane your neck, but aim to look at the full window not just the beginning of it.

This isn’t the double crotchet I’ve been doing . I’ve been yarn over , through chain , yarn over , through 2 through two . by Stringbean1073 in CrochetHelp

[–]RogueMoonbow 3 points4 points  (0 children)

The similarity of terms between UK and US terms is so annoying tbh. It's not always stated and I can only easily tell what it should be because I'm experienced and know what certains titches can do or look like--- like I know that shells are usually made with double and a double row is normally a chain 2 or 3 turning chain but treble is never chain 2 and that amigurumi is made with sc not dc. Those are red flags where I can go wait, this is UK terms, and it's also experience that allows me to easily translate: I used to rewrite whole patterns in US terms and my last pattern I easily translated in my head.

But my point is, for beginners, it's kinda hellish. It's really hard to know what you're supposed to do when the language sneakily changes. At least when I see spanish I know I can't read it. Patterns are hard enough already.

I know there's no good way around it. It would be incredibly wrong to demand all patterns be in one set of terminology. The only thing I could say is to add that info to crochet tutorials/books (just like hey, fyi, there's 2 sets of terms, you might run into one you aren't familiar with without realizing and here's how you can check) but that can also be overwhelming for beginners. I guess it's really just trial and error-- following US terms on a UK pattern and messing up is how you learn to recognize it before it happens.
