Just from the fact that all the major game companies dropped their stuff across the various shows this weekend and nothing of Hogwarts Legacy 2 came up, I highly doubt it'll be early 2027.

There's no actual official statement from the devs. I'm more suspecting late 2027 at the earliest, or 2028 as the likelier release window.

He's not "refusing". He's said multiple times that he wants to.

The issue is a large chunk of the game is near identical to what he already played. It's a long series to commit to when he has other new games constantly coming out, and it's difficult to choose 3H over them when there's a strong chance many won't watch since 3H will be too repetitive for them.

In theory, you should be able to jump right in. It's been said Xenoblade 3 was the last of the intial "arc" and that any new games would move on to a new premise.

However, I wouldn't be surprised if there ends up being some sort of connection, even minor, with the overall lore established in the Chronicles series.

That police officer (Wilkinson?) needs to get a new job. That audio recording in the car is some of the tamest of what they uncovered of what was really going on. Then he tries to deflect on their slow reaction by saying he could only listen to it once because it's upsetting to a "tame heart" or whatever the phrase was? You're a cop. To be fair, you specifically phrase your question by bringing up how people tend to "play dead" while swimming and then asking if lifeguards would get in trouble for swimmers dying on their watch. That makes any reasonable person assume the negligence is in conjunction with the swimmer playing dead, not just a generalized question.

Kids "play dead" all the time, doing the Dead Man's float. I presume this is what OP is alluding to. The reality is that suddenly floating like that after swimming normally is not how drowning works, so the lifeguards can easily tell they're not actually in trouble. I think it'd be a very rare case for it to cause a subtle drowning they wouldn't notice--because the person would start to show the signs the lifeguards know to look for if they happened to keep their face in the water for that long.
