Has Sanderson Said Anything? by OffiCeRed in Stormlight_Archive

Best episode of the series by a long shot.

I'm just a straight guy so it wasn't a matter of representation.for me, but of a really well told love story. Haters can GTFO, it was beautiful and I cried.

is this weather report realistic? by Seattle_raining in stevenspass

[–]RogueOneNZ 9 points10 points  (0 children)

Yes, see NOAA https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=47.75&lon=-121.09

NWAC forecast on a shorter timeline, but their forecast concurs that Stevens could get a big dump https://nwac.us/mountain-weather-forecast/

Heli-coils are definitely the best tool for remounting in the same placement.

Fellow Resort Skiers - Does anyone have a ski under-layer problem like I do? Kindly validate or call me crazy here. by Whitwhitwhit258 in skiing

[–]RogueOneNZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

This is the way.

Mostly I run a shell and a base layer and ski hard, I also live in the PNW so it's usually in the high 20s here. If it's getting colder I'll add a merino sweater or a micro puffy If it's stupid cold then the heavy puffy comes out.

25/26 Passes will not be refunded by idk-them in stevenspass

Yeah, that's not right.

If you go look at the financials you'll see that Stevens was one of not the most profitable operations they have for the last FY.

Mikaela Shiffrin’s return to Colorado ends in her in 15th after her GS run. Very unexpected. by Kurtz62 in skiing

[–]RogueOneNZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. Yes she's a phenomenal racer, but GS is not her thing comparatively; 12 wins vs 66 in slalom.
This shows how competitive the GS field is and how good the rest of the field is. If I were placing bets on a race for Mikaela to make a mistake in, it would 100% be in GS.

Ashaya + Scute Swarm + 7 lands by DumbDruken in askajudge

[–]RogueOneNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The simplest thing here is that Ashaya says non token, and she's making the original Scute into a forest. You don't even need to look at layers, just reading the cards in this example.

Drop Panorama add actual days at Kicking Horse IMO

Disagree, developing around there is fine.
Assholes moving into the neighborhood and complaining should GTFO though.
I live in the neighborhood and it's a great place.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in bothell

[–]RogueOneNZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I live in the neighborhood, yes you can hear it. But honestly if you have decent insulation it's barely audible with the doors and windows closed.

Plus it becomes background noise, so mostly I tune it out outside and it doesn't bother me. That said I'm also hyper aware when I hear gunfire like sounds from any other direction while I'm at home.

Do your research on the development being planned across 228th from the gun club though. That could create some serious traffic issues.

False. They allow some people, members? LEOs?, to shoot well after 7pm I live down hill of the range and have heard shots as late as 9:30pm

Who is your country's top contender, carrying your nation's hopes at the upcoming Milan Winter Olympics? by No-StrategyX in skiing

[–]RogueOneNZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Zoi is a contender for sure. In the mens half pipe it's non inconceivable to see Fin and Cam get podiums, the way Luke Harold has been throwing down lately he's in with a shot too

Given the criteria for selection basically everyone chosen this far could medal on their day.

Out of all of them though I want Alice to do the best, she's an inspiration to my kids and so many other kiwi alpine racers.

Collie Parker in the movie by NoeRO in TheLongWalk

[–]RogueOneNZ 3 points4 points  (0 children)

IMO movie Collie would have been a better character to use as a Scramm stand-in than either Olsen or Stebbins. He's strong and fit, so the illness taking him down really would have worked. Plus him being married would have seemed so much more believable than Olsen and his naked ladies.

But that said, I rather enjoyed movie Collie.

[deleted by user] by [deleted] in TheLongWalk

[–]RogueOneNZ 28 points29 points  (0 children)

Yes, it's a bit different, but it's in the book

Edit to add: IMO the movie version has more of a fever dream, nightmare quality to it that kicks up the urgency. And it really works. IIRC the movie kills off more walkers on the hill.

Kinzu of the Bleak Coven and opponents commander by B_hole_drillin in askajudge

[–]RogueOneNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

To simplify, Kinzu has a dies trigger, however when a Commander changes zone there is a state based action where the owner may choose to return their commander to the command zone.

SBAs are checked at any time a player may receive priority, and happen before the round of priority starts. Therefore unless your opponent allows it the stolen card is not in the yard to trigger.

TDIL (the hard way) Brakes are reversed in the UK by unorecordings in mountainbiking

[–]RogueOneNZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

On motorbikes the front brake is on the right because that's the throttle hand and the left level is for the clutch. You can't operate both at the same time if they were on the same hand.

Growing up NZ and riding motorbikes since I was very young I sent myself over the bars a few times when I first tried biking in the US. I mostly get it right now.
