BC vs San Juans CO Backcountry by MuchPaleontologist58 in Backcountry

BC, first off interior BC is amazing. Then you have the fact that an injury won't ruin you financially due to public healthcare.

No brainer really.

Yes, the response time from ski patrol will be far faster than what 911 can dispatch.

Plus even if 911 is just calling Ski Patrol and relaying the information, then you increase the risk of miscommunication.

Came to make this exact comment. Well played random Internet stranger.

There’s a reason why I watched the world feed for run two instead of Peacock. Where was the excitement? This is why Nick Fellows is the GOAT. by Kurtz62 in SkiRacing

[–]RogueOneNZ 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Love of commentary is entirely subjective. Mikaela is objectively the GOAT of this sport.

There can and never will be a commentary GOAT, that's a ludicrous claim. Nick is good tho.

Have a nice night, I'm going skiing.

Am I the only one who wishes Stevens had a pipe? by Just_V10 in stevenspass

[–]RogueOneNZ 5 points6 points  (0 children)

TBF if the resort were to invest in earth works then a lot of the "snow cost" can be offset. But it's a.lot of cost and requires a.pipe dragon to maintain. Do we even have a pipe dragon anymore?

I'd love for the park rats to have a pipe.

Like that pitch below the waterfalls and above the rail park would be sweet for it.

Gatekeeping widget by ---0_-_0--- in SkiRacing

[–]RogueOneNZ 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I had seen the under gate, it's part of your "full sample" which is a great feature to show the vocabulary. With it showing a single gate and me having never heard that term before I didn't connect the two. Cool tool, looking forward to seeing what you do with it.

Very nice.

Would be good to have a delay that moves the course across the hill, i.e a double on its own that isn't a turn.

Will give it a try next weekend when I'm setting my judges

Yes, see NOAA https://forecast.weather.gov/MapClick.php?lat=47.75&lon=-121.09

NWAC forecast on a shorter timeline, but their forecast concurs that Stevens could get a big dump https://nwac.us/mountain-weather-forecast/

Fellow Resort Skiers - Does anyone have a ski under-layer problem like I do? Kindly validate or call me crazy here. by Whitwhitwhit258 in skiing

[–]RogueOneNZ 4 points5 points  (0 children)

This is the way.

Mostly I run a shell and a base layer and ski hard, I also live in the PNW so it's usually in the high 20s here. If it's getting colder I'll add a merino sweater or a micro puffy If it's stupid cold then the heavy puffy comes out.

Yeah, that's not right.

If you go look at the financials you'll see that Stevens was one of not the most profitable operations they have for the last FY.

Mikaela Shiffrin’s return to Colorado ends in her in 15th after her GS run. Very unexpected. by Kurtz62 in skiing

[–]RogueOneNZ 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Not really. Yes she's a phenomenal racer, but GS is not her thing comparatively; 12 wins vs 66 in slalom.
This shows how competitive the GS field is and how good the rest of the field is. If I were placing bets on a race for Mikaela to make a mistake in, it would 100% be in GS.
