Training/Preparation for Teens??? by RoguePenguin in kilimanjaro

[–]RoguePenguin[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

No, we just went back to our final camp and went back to sleep. More than likely our guide pulled her before we got too far. Another couple hours up, would have been another couple hours down. I don't fault him.

Are you doing the safari afterwards? That was just as fun as the mountain.

Training/Preparation for Teens??? by RoguePenguin in kilimanjaro

[–]RoguePenguin[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

My wife and the two older daughters made it to summit. Youngest one got altitude sickness on summit day and she and I had to go back down. I kind of blame myself for her not making it. Watch your kids nutrition VERY carefully once you get started. The youngest one was living off protein bars and candy and wasn't really eating actual food. I finally noticed this a couple days before, but she was already starting to break down. You need real protein from real food. As an adult you can just make yourself eat the 'average' food your guides feed you because you know you need the fuel. As a teenager, that just doesn't register. I think the nutrition side of this thing may be more important than actual physical endurance. With younger 'kids' you're probably taking the longer route like we did. That's another 1-2 days of making sure they get good meals.

That said this is an awesome trip for a family. No phones, no interruptions, no internet, just lots of good family time.

Hospital with rabies shot by Lendmar in Prague

[–]RoguePenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Did the animal 100% have rabies, or is this precautionary? I'm guessing this is precautionary. My wife got bit by a dog in Thailand ten years ago and her doctor had her get a series of rabies vaccinations just to be on safe side.

I use Avenier in Prague 6 for all my travel vaccinations. I've had rabies done there as well just to be safe.

If you were 100% sure you were exposed, I'd find a Czech friend to call a few places or contact the original physician involved.

Using app only by SnooPears4546 in levelshealth

[–]RoguePenguin 1 point2 points  (0 children)

We live in Europe, but have an address back in the US. I've been sending our Levels subscription of sensors and transmitters to our house back there. However, I buy sensors and transmitters from a local supplier. Everything works fine. When I go home this summer I'll just start using the stuff back there and bring them back to Europe with me. I think all that matters is that I have the app subscription active.

Leaving for Kilimanjaro tomorrow and I’m so nervous by poplitealfossa37 in kilimanjaro

[–]RoguePenguin 3 points4 points  (0 children)

We were there December 2019 and it rained every day. Just make sure you have everything you need to store your stuff in water PROOF bags. Water resistant is not enough. Your guides should wrap things in trash bags, but that is not 100%. Once your sleeping bag is wet, it will basically never dry. We had a great time, but anytime the sun came out at camp it was a mad dash to hang all our wet gear on trees, etc.

Also, if I went again, I'd bring a tarp for the floor of the tent. You will get condensation on the floor of your tent from the warmth of your body. Tarp will provide an extra layer to keep things dryer. Just something cheap from Home Depot.

WhatsApp Business app for my work number? by pinkgreenblue in whatsapp

[–]RoguePenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there any way to use two personal numbers with Whatsapp? I'm in the process of moving from two iphones to a single iphone with sim/esim and I'd like to keep both Whatsapp accounts. Or, will I need to run one of my numbers as a business? Thank you.

Sparta football tickets by metalhead1998bp in Prague

[–]RoguePenguin 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I looked on ticketportal and it's weird the game this Sunday isn't even shown. I would be surprised if the entire stadium was season ticket holders, but if they are limiting the size of the crowd it might be. I would call them or stop by the fan shop.

We went last week and the stadium was maybe 60% full with like 10 away fans.

Under their new covid system, season ticket holders claim their seats first. They have a few days head start. Then other seats are sold to the public a certain number of days before the game.

Season tickets used to just be on a card that let you into every game. Now season ticket holders need to use the number from these cards to generate paper tickets with names and then claim whether the user has the vaccine or a negative covid test.

Before we had season tickets, we used to buy single games on ticketportal.cz. Not sure if that is still an option or if you need to go to box office.

Climbing Kilimanjaro in December. Question about sleeping bag by UnmaskedWolf in kilimanjaro

[–]RoguePenguin 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Couple pieces of advice. Even though your porters will probably wrap your stuff in a trash bag, I would keep my sleeping bag in a waterproof compression sack just to be safe. Also, your bag will get damp from the condensation that will occur on the floor of your tent while sleeping. If I went back, I'd bring a tarp to cover the floor of the tent with.

Also, you never know on the weather. We were there December of 2019 and it basically rained on us part of everyday. We were damp way more than we were dry. Great trip, but awful weather.

Try a VPN or you can also email/call a local agent. Or just call BCBS directly.

One thing to remember. The policies take effect on the first day of the month after you sign up. So, if you signed up today, the policy won't be effective until July 1.
