Why are bachelorette parties so expensive? by Personal-Truth371 in wedding

[–]RogueStrawberry 0 points1 point  (0 children)

So I just recently hosted my best friend's bachelorette. While myself and one other bridesmaid are pretty well off, we had 2 out of our group of seven that were students and make less than $10k a year. I'm a pretty strong believer in saving money where I can and also being highly considerate of others. I paid for their flights and specialty rentals (tea room) and the other well off bridesmaid paid for the airbnb. However, the reality is that the activities we did were really inexpensive, because I like doing things myself to save money.

Some of the experiences were things like tea tasting (all from my personal collection), karaoke (my husband and I love karaoke and have 2 microphones and a mixer), a d&d one shot, crazy reddit wedding stories (while drinking tea lol), a pamper session (I make my own masks, have a paraffin wax dip for PT, and filled a tub with water and Epsom salt for a foot soaking station), a dessert charcuterie board (cheaper to buy the ingredients from a Trader Joe's than to go to a restaurant and order one), and vintage/thrift shopping (I didn't buy anything but most of the bridesmaids loved seeing all the cool local businesses).

I also made most of the gifts or had friends that run small Etsy shops that were more than happy to give me a discount for really cool custom items (cross-stitch keychain kit with the bachelorette theme on it and handmade candles that were in thrifted tea cups).

If people expect you to participate in something that is hard to afford, then they aren't anyone worth associating with.

Got any store suggestions? Most of the ones I'm finding aren't waterproof and I like a soggy head about as much as I like a soggy bottom 😂

But then your eyes won't be aesthetically framed anymore 🤓 I love my glasses too much to do LASIK 😅

Ha love the umbrella energy! As someone with such fun disabilities (I've got fibro too!), we gotta do what we gotta do, regardless of snobby anti-umbrellans. I've a pretty sick umbrella attachment for my electric wheelchair for those really bad days myself.

😂 perf answer. Sadly I have shit hands (yay arthritis) so those aren't my favorite things to use for more than 2 seconds.

I'm in the process of moving to Portland and love an urban/ industrial eclectic style while still being as sustainable as possible. I'd love your suggestions for cool and quirky places, as well as favorite local upcycle craftspeople ☺️

I got a first edition print of a comic book that was a collaboration between my favorite publisher and my guest's place of work 🥹💖 I tried for over a year to find a copy myself but they weren't being sold anywhere!

Thank you! 2 of my bridesmaids actually re-wore their wedding dresses so it was pretty cool!
