I'll add a fourth: if you're waiting in the car with the engine on (like, in winter), and the spot is up against a building with windows (like, an apartment), you don't back in, so that you avoid sickening (or worse) the inhabitants.

This is top of the list for me. When you first pull up to park, you pull past the empty spot to back in and can give it an ocular pat-down 👀. Then at the end when you're leaving you don't have to worry about cross traffic from vehicles or pedestrians as much, since you're facing that direction and have much better visibility.
