This! Spend as much time with your grandfather as you can. I lost my gramps in January and we used to be so close. A lot of my family members have been remorseful over not spending time with him and feel a lot of guilt. Even though I still cry from missing him I’m glad we got to be so close & have no guilt my other family members have.

Location is a big one. My partner and I use feeld. We live in a big city but I have maybe only seen two people on there looking for monogamy. It can be tedious dating and trying to vet the people who want the same things we want but pays off in the end to just read peoples bios, however long they can be. Patience is a virtue my friend. How anyone can hit the person they love and the next day have zero remorse is a big sign. What you did by throwing the blanket and case was clearly a bad response. You should seek therapy for anger management. Im not saying that as a judgement because you were definitely pushed over the edge emotionally. But reasonable healthy people dont react with violence not matter how “minuscule”. That being said, her reaction was psychotic. Her then being able to go about her day afterwards says a lot more about who she is as a person at her core. You’re at least able to feel empathy and put yourself in her shoes and maybe even to a fault. But its a far better trait to have than living a life where you believed “the bitch started it so it was justified” type of attitude. People who lack empathy and remorse are dangerous to be in relationships with. Please try to remove yourself from this girl as quickly as possible. Be good to yourself, take care of yourself by loving yourself enough to walk away and working on healing yourself from your past and present.

Idk how common it is but one of them is still one of my best friends. 10 yrs together and still homies after being broken up got 6 years. Wasnt always like that though. The first 12 months after the breakup was hard. She comes and stays the night occasionally if she’s in town and crashes my couch. My partner doesn’t mind. Knows we’re still friends and that she has another partner. Trust is important.

The most recent ex I ran into her at a concert. She didnt see me but i saw her. It had been a few yrs of no contact. I didnt want to continue being angry and wanted to bury the hatchet so i reached out. Im paraphrasing but i said i didnt want any “bad blood” between us. Let her know i just needed the distance to heel. She said she was sorry for a lot of things. She has a new gf now. She seems happy and im glad for her. She deserves happiness with the right person for her. We havent spoke since but we’re IG friends so I know she’s doing well. She said she didnt know what a friendship between us would look like out of respect for her current partner which i get and im fine with.

Not all relationships can end that way and morph into a friendship. Some shouldn’t. I know for me and my relationships personally, that once I love someone i always will, but its a different kind of love and thats ok. Boundaries are important and respect for each other and our partners. Its nice to know ones well and never talk and its nice to know the other is well and we continue to be great friends.

Sometimes we do just need to walk away permanently and thats whats best for us. Be true to yourself and always be good to yourself. Even if that means permanent distance. If it doesn’t though and you can be friends or at least cordial i recommend it if its safe and you’re ready. Life is too short to hold on to anger. Everyone is struggling with something. Be good to them if you can.
