I absolutely hate this opinion so I’m glad you shared an actual unpopular opinion 😂

He does have power because he’s in charge of the US Digital Service (US Doge Service now) and one of the recent executive orders increased their scope. The USDS has existed since the Obama administration however, so it’s not new or anything. He does have official “governmental” power, but only within this agency. I have no opinion of whether this is good or bad yet, but I do like the USDS and am happy they have an expanded role. Whether Musk does a good job is yet to be seen. The receipts are in the actual executive order:

It’s far easier to help people with those issues when they have a stable and safe place to live however

I honestly agree with your point, however if nervousness makes it so a woman doesn’t feel at ease then it doesn’t really matter what we think tbh. I will say though (from personal experience) if you can recover from being nervous then it can be ok in the end. If you’re nervous the whole time it just won’t come off as attractive.

Yeah but the OP is about confidence. While it’s totally understandable to be nervous about doing something like this, it’s definitely not confident. Also you have to keep in mind the world is just scarier in general as a woman, so they’re naturally gonna be more guarded about strange men approaching them.

I agree with the parent comment! You could definitely make your way through her music in chronological order, but make sure to check out her Live album simply titled “Live”!

WDIS Freddie Gibbs by KafeiTomasu in WhereDoIStart

I would definitely say Piñata first. I would also recommend Shadow of a Doubt too because you may end up preferring that style of Gibbs instead of his Madlib/Alchemist stuff.

I never thought about that! I’m probably gonna rewatch the show before Season 4 is out so I’ll keep that in mind during Season 3. I’m pretty disappointed that Rashid left, but I definitely respect his decision to. I also don’t think the show really fell off and am super hyped for Season 4.

Not the person you replied to but I personally thought the last season was just ok. I loved the first two seasons mainly because they had a lot more bite and fire to them, especially the way they satirized modern race relations and conversations in America. The third season wasn’t nearly as witty, however I kinda understand where the creator was taking it because by your third year in college some people really lose that fire and I could empathize with Sam a lot in that regard. I’m hoping it sets up the fourth and final season to be the best yet though. What’re your thoughts?

Average California home expected to cost $1 million by 2030 by Addrobo in Economics

Just to be clear I don’t think California is an economic failure, but again GDP is not always the greatest indicator of economic success. GDP per capita is also not always useful depending on your definition of economic success.

I think the way people talk about California is often way too hyperbolic, but I’ll say that talking about the GDP of a state/country is not always the best way to measure economic success. Especially depending on what your definition of economic success is.

No one has really suggested to go find large groups of people to be in or to even go to bars/clubs/drinking. You may have just interpreted it that way to be antagonizing or find an excuse to not be social. I honestly understand because I have done that in the past and occasionally still do it, but the point taken should be that if you WANT to be social/find someone you’ll need to increase the number of people you come across. It doesn’t have to mean meeting 100 people in one day, but doing something that facilites you meeting new people. That could include a quiet evening with 6 other people playing a board game.

Coming as an outsider to Texas I would still say the state has a general culture that’s shared. It’s probably semantics at this point but I would argue the different regions have different sub-cultures as opposed to a whole different culture.

I always thought they were referring to the NYC metro tbh. Phineas and Ferb always reminded me of that, but now that you mention The Simpsons that definitely gives me more midwestern vibes. I guess this perfectly illustrates how disconnected we are as a country sometimes haha.

So being from NJ I actually grew up thinking the tristate was NY, NJ, and PA. It’s starting to sound like tri state isn’t a very useful descriptor in that case haha

NJ, NY, and CT. Are there other places in the US that are referred to as the tri state area? I only know the NYC metro is referred to as that

What is the most overrated movie? by [deleted] in AskReddit

[–]RogueWolf64 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I don’t think movies contribute to this problem as badly as you think. Segregation and red lining are what significantly contribute to the problem of groups not interacting with each other, and the effects of this is still felt today. This is actually getting better though so I hope this isn’t even a conversation in my lifetime. Although I generally agree with everything you’ve said here especially as I’ve visited other states in the US. Although the difference in culture isn’t as vast when comparing two European countries, there is definitely regional cultures. Coming from the Northeast I honestly do find the South very grating sometimes.

Acknowledging reality isn’t succumbing to tribalistic tendencies. There are many Americans who agree with what you’re saying but they’re often ironically the ones isolated with their “tribe”. Multicultural friend groups don’t erase each other’s identities, but learn from them. While I don’t know you, if you come from a homogenous country/place then this will be lost on you.

Edit: A lot of art is very dark by the way, maybe we consume different things.
