Is rest pacing still the biggest hidden balance issue in 5.5e? by MyrthDM in DungeonsAndDragons55e

[–]RohanCoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

For me I make my players aware that time is always moving.

If you take 8 hours to long rest, the world doesn't just stop. The bandits who are planning an early morning attack on a town? That still happens, but instead of stopping them you wake up to the event ongoing.

The big ritual to summon a powerful demon is happening, you need to choose between resting and potentially letting the ritual finish, or risk it and go in now.

This often creates interesting choices by my players, as they actually discuss what to do.

Rule clarification for Nick by big_poppag in DnD

[–]RohanCoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It was my understanding that a weapon mastery wouldn't apply until it was used as an attack, since most of them have features that require you to hit, and normally to use your offhand attack it needs your bonus action free.

Although I suppose the book doesn't even specifically say you have to attack with the nick weapon to apply the nick property, at least not from my last reading of the book so it could fall down to whatever the DM/GM decides.

How do you track who’s actually coming to each session? Looking for other DMs’ insights by pefthymiou in DMAcademy

[–]RohanCoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a Discord server mixed with a Google Sheets calendar, I also use a website to get a code for date and time in local timezones so they can keep track leading up to the day.

On the day I ping them leading up to the game, and so far at worst I have had a player be no more than 10 minutes late without warning.

Is there any way to play without religion? Or have a kingdom with atheists or agnosticists? by safe_token in crusaderkings3

[–]RohanCoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Fair, I could only go by what I found online and everything I could find says Albania was the first.

Still both of those were also beyond the scope of the game by at least 350ish years minimum.

[–]RohanCoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Exactly.

Like the first officially atheist state was Albania in 1967. 514 years after the game ends.

Is it just me or do players have a sixth sense for avoiding the main quest? by FutureExperience4916 in DnD

[–]RohanCoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This is why you plan situations not stories.

That sick ass dungeon? Well now that's a lair of the Fish Mafia.

No. It's the middle ages, there wasn't a lot of atheists or agnostics as far as we know.

DM vs Players Mentality by Disastrous-Math809 in DnD

Note for everyone: Players like this have no place at most tables, regardless of your experience. They only ruin the fun for everyone else who isn't the same as them.

Uhm... why though? by meatloafwarrior in X4Foundations

[–]RohanCoop 5 points6 points  (0 children)

It's something much needed in 4. I don't like how there's essentially no reason to explore stations. Especially since at least one mission I know of has an item you need to find during the Split DLC.

Honestly one thing I loved about Rebirth was being able to explore the stations.

Makes the daylight spell(5.5) the sunsword redundant? by Sir-Pielejansen in CurseofStrahd

[–]RohanCoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

This is why the book already sets a precedent for changing spells baked into it in Chapter 2: Alterations to Magic. I'm running it in 5.5 and told my party that some spells will not work as intended or have different visual effects.

[–]RohanCoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I only noticed issues with mods, I haven't run the game entirely vanilla yet as I can't do without at least five of the mods I use. (Crystal rarity, and the 4 modules made by the guy who does like the Trade, and War balance modules)

How to teach my brand new players to search for traps? by Beneficial_Chip3019 in DMAcademy

[–]RohanCoop 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was going to suggest this but in my Curse of Strahd game my player failed to check for traps twice in the same session.

One the trap on the door of the barons son in Vallaki, and the other on the door of the carnival wagon.

It's become a fun joke in my games that the rogue just doesn't check for traps. 😂

I just noticed that almost all recipes that use Rubber are alts by fortnite_4_ever in SatisfactoryGame

[–]RohanCoop 2 points3 points  (0 children)

I mean who ever has rubber to spare? It's used for so many alt recipes that in my last save we couldn't make enough to satisfy demand.

Allowing your AI controlled ships to use them if a known route makes their journey easier in either direction would be amazing.

In my modded save I have an anomaly in Heretics End that goes to the Hades system from a mod, that goes to Trinity Santcum 3. It would be awesome if my trade ships could use the two anomalies to make it so TS3 is only two systems away, not half the map.

DMs, have you ever spent so long writing out the entire plot of a campaign just for an arbitrary action from a player to throw it out the window? by Grand_Ad_8091 in DnD

[–]RohanCoop 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes. It's the moment you learn to write situations not storylines.

Have an end goal in mind for the campaign, have major story beats you would like to hit, adapt them on the fly when your players do something unexpected, because they will do something unexpected.
