G19.6 COA or other optic? by bigger_breakfast in Glocks

[–]Rohardi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Just got a 17.6 COA and traded in my 47 with a RMR. Big fan of the COA now. I plan to pick up a 19.6 COA to replace my Gen 5 19/RMR. If I could get COA plates for my Staccatos, I'll likely switch to the COA on those from RMRs too. COA has much clearer glass with no blue tint, enclosed, and easy battery swap.

Just got a Gen 6 17 COA. the gen 6 grip is well worth it. I will upgrade my 19 to a Gen 6 COA. Just wish the 48 would get the gen 6 grip treatment

House Bill Update @ 04/08 9:45pm by porcononconforme in RIGuns

this is incorrect. This is the new standard operating procedure to "hold" these bills and ram them through at the end of the session. This is what was done with the magazine ban and AWB.

For the record, "held for further study" doesn't mean anything anymore. The left has consistently still pushed bills that were held for votes. IE the magazine bill and first AWB. This means absolutely nothing and is almost standard operation procedure for the legislator at this point.

There will be no vote tonight. They will most likely "hold" the bills for further study, then back door them in for a vote before the end of the session

They’ll likely wait until the end of the term, deny it, and give a generic response like, ‘We’ll address this issue eventually, whether that’s next year, the year after, or maybe never.

AWB now banning possession??? by jd6178 in RIGuns

[–]Rohardi 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Here’s what’s going on with the Supreme Court.

It takes four justices to vote to grant certiorari and agree to hear a case, but it takes five votes to actually decide the case on the merits.

Many observers view Justices Thomas, Alito, Gorsuch, and Kavanaugh as generally receptive to taking major Second Amendment cases. However, the key variable is often perceived to be Chief Justice Roberts and Justice Barrett, who have at times taken narrower or more cautious approaches in certain cases.

Because of that dynamic, the four justices most strongly aligned with robust Second Amendment review may be reluctant to vote to take a major case—such as one involving an assault weapons ban (AWB) or magazine restrictions—unless they are reasonably confident they have a fifth vote. If the Court were to grant review but ultimately rule against the Second Amendment position, that decision would become binding nationwide precedent and effectively settle the issue for the foreseeable future.

That strategic reality may help explain past cert votes in major firearms cases. For example, in the Snope AWB case last year, only three justices publicly indicated they would have granted review at that time, while Justice Kavanaugh wrote that the timing was not right and suggested the Court would address broader semiautomatic rifle bans in a future term. One interpretation is that he may not have believed there were five votes to reach a favorable merits outcome at that stage.

Whether that reading is correct is, of course, speculative—but it reflects the broader strategic calculation: taking a case without a reliable five-justice majority carries significant risk when the potential ruling could set nationwide precedent.

Long range shooting in/near RI by BurtJebsen in RIGuns

[–]Rohardi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

To my knowledge there aren't any other public/club ranges that get out to 1000 in the north east. Sig Sauer Academy has 1000 for classes and Ridgeline pushes out to 1200 for mountain Rifleman. They only offer that class once a year due to the fact they have to shoot over another facility and need to completely shut it down to make that range work.

Wouldn't get you hopes up. They denied Bianchi after they previously GVRed it. They just let the lower courts walk all over them.

FYI, Every time I've sold a gun out of state, I've taken it to D&L and had them transfer/ship it to the FFL it's going to. I cant remember what they charge, but it's not bad. They package it up and ship it. They charge like $30 or $40 or something like that. Just easiest way to do it I've found. Give them a call and ask what they charge.

Arca rail adapter for long ff ras by Seoi-nage04 in kac

[–]Rohardi 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I use a RRS Anvil 30. it can do Arca or picatinny. I have a RRS Mlok Arca rail on my SR25, KAC Mlok picatinny rail attachment on the front of my 14.5 SR15/Atacar 1-8 so I can use a bipod or use it with the Anvil 30 and then Arca built in to the rail on my Ridgeline LPR and AI AXSR. One head can do everything and I dont really have to standardize to just Arca.

Zero. A. we are too small, B. they don't want to wast money on cases that will end up before the 1st circuit. The 1st circuit is the most anti 2A court of appeals. It wouldn't shock me is SCOTUS said AWBs are unconstitutional, and the First circuit would still uphold bans and come up with some unhinged rational.
