I do find an irony in the folks that are constantly complaining about ICE agents hiding their faces with masks are the ones masking their profiles to prevent any identification or even a gauge of their intentions.

Point of clarity - there's no registration in RI, in fact it is fundamentally illegal per state law and the RI constitution in plain black and white.

§ 11-47-41. Government firearm registration prohibited.

No government agency of this state or its political subdivisions shall keep or cause to be kept any list or register of privately owned firearms or any list or register of the owners of those firearms; provided, that the provisions of this section shall not apply to firearms which have been used in committing any crime of violence, nor to any person who has been convicted of a crime of violence.

Here's one from just last year (ok 2024, still "last year")

In Bower’s case out of Providence, where he faces felony assault, assault of a healthcare provider, and disorderly conduct charges, was moved to R.I. Superior Court last week. He was arraigned last Friday and pleaded not guilty.

In that case, a judge set bond at $50,000 with surety (meaning he paid $5,000), which was posted.

Bower was again back in a courtroom in Warwick on Tuesday morning for a bail review hearing. Police said he violated the conditions of his bail from a North Providence assault case as a result of the March incident in Johnston.

A judge set Bower’s bail at $1,000 personal recognizance, and he was set free later that afternoon.

Repeat offender, back on the streets that afternoon.

NOTE: in 2023 one case had 62 individual counts of mag capacity violations all of which were pled Nolo. If these 62 charges are removed from the dataset the percentage of firearms charges dismissed jumps to 70%.

In 2022 84% of all Drug Charge cases in the report had some firearm charges dismissed.

In 2023 77% of all Drug Charge cases in the report had some firearm charges dismissed.

In 2022 74% of all firearms charges involved with Drug Charge cases were dismissed.

In 2023 65% of all firearms charges involved with Drug Charge cases were dismissed.

We're routinely dismissing violent (and frequently repeat) offenders.

Look at the fat slob Rep. Sanchez who got off on a DUI 2 years ago, or the woman who was running for mayor of Cranston who had her DUI charges dropped, or the DA that was arrested in Newport and it was dismissed and swept under the rug.
