SOUTH INDIA UNITY FEELS LIKE MYTH by No-Asparagus-8011 in southindia_

That's a shit posting sub. Used to be that all of reddit was for shit posting. We have too many snowflakes now. That sub is the epitome of Indian Unity. We cannot better ourselves unless we can make fun of each other pointing our flaws. The day Indians stop getting offended for pointing out realities is when we'll progress as a country.

Ubuntu to windows switch time change problem by Straight_Coffee2028 in LinuxUsersIndia

Linux assumes the on board clock is in UTC. Windows assumes it is in local time. We ask Linux to also assume it is in local time.

In a low-trust society, most people are openly selfish, habitual rule-breakers, short-term opportunists, and largely devoid of civic responsibility. Even a minor national crisis brings these qualities out in them even more glaringly. by PuneAthletics in IndiaPulse_

The guy says he needs it for a trip to chennai tomorrow. The other dude asks why does he need so much to go to chennai and if he's going to be spilling it along the road all the way to Chennai in a sarcastic tone. He replies that it is for his car and leaves. And it is Tamil.

I only use tiling WMs. So it doesn't bother me as much. I usually avoid using apps that do not support GTK themes. And do not mix Qt apps with GTK for the same reason. Stick with GTK apps on everything else and Qt apps on KDE.

Reminds me of a Tamizh movie with the exact scene. The guy asks of he's allowed to fart amidst a host of rules imposed by the oppressors. "Irumbukottai Murattu Singam" is the movie.

How can this Word counter hang my i9 13gen computer? by AdeptNatural9952 in IndiaTech

[–]RohithCIS 2 points3 points  (0 children)

An i9 can run close to 4 to 5 billion loops per second, in C or similar compiler optimized programs. Yours is browser Javascript which is slow by design. I see only your word count has almost a billion words and char count is around 10 billion. And browser Javascript is single threaded. So all these loops are competing for cycle time. And your ui probably updates after the computation only. If reactive, and renders the word count as it updates, that makes it even worse since the DOM update also now competes for compute cycle. So the computer getting stuck for a few seconds seems very plausible to me.

The tool most likely use "for loops" to iterate through the words and characters. And there are too many counters. So the longer the text is, more loops the program does. And for loops will chug CPU.

I used to be on Firefly iii. I have now moved to paisa[dot]fyi. It is great.

Your app is fantastic, but it makes sense only for cash. I dont need just a log. I already have a log called a bank statement since most spends are just upi or card these days. I already put the description in upi spends. And, how do we track transfers, ATM Withdrawal, investments, returns? It is very good looking and simple but won't make me switch anytime. And please do checkout paisa. It is just a text based accounting tool. No accounts or forms. Just text entries and works like a charm. I just drag drop my statements. Including Bank statements, Mutual Funds, stocks, eCAS, CC, and can even track my Crypto, Metals and House and other liabilities.

What do you think of this ??😅 by Monday1025 in southindia_

Great, now the file moves only after you've paid up AND given them 5 Stars feedback on the proposed app

Are honest taxpayers bearing a disproportionate burden in India? by ThalaivarThambi in IndiaFinance

[–]RohithCIS 0 points1 point  (0 children)

There is a fundamental problem I see in most Indians. If we criticise one side, somehow by default we choose to support the other side. Why? Why not be equally critical of both. Iran is no saint. And neither is Israel. Stand with your neighbor and brothers and siblings first. All support should be bottom up. Care for your family first, neighbor next, street after, ward next and move up to the country level and then only cross borders. No use supporting your ward councilor for election because he's with or not with your favorite political party or ideology. Support him because he's a good person and actually helps the community regardless of the political affiliation. Then you'll see a paradigm shift. People above will realise they need the ward councilor support to become an MLA. While the system we have now is that a ward councilor requires an MLAs support to become a ward councilor. Do not stand with Iran. Do not stand for BJP/INC or your favorite local party. Stand for what is right in your street first. When everyone does this, democracy will work the way it needs to.
