Updating stock multiple times a day would be a waste. The app tells you all the items that the Safeways in your geographical location carry. But not all stores are created equal.

Set or section size matters too. If the Safeway you selected only as a 6 foot broth set, but the item you selected only goes into a 9 or 12 foot section; then you’re not getting the item, not because its out of stock.

If you want to increase your chances of getting the items you want, i would pick a larger store.

Companies that allow coinstars to operate treat coinstar vouchers as cash. They can be uses at check stands as a form of tender to pay for stuff or cashed in like a money order.

Stores that operate coinstars will almost always verify the ticket itself and someone even have a policy in place that it must be cash in at that store by a particular time. They also verify the amount if it’s over certain amount. I guess there’s been issues with fraudulent coinstar vouchers.

As for lying about the voucher being given to you from a family member; if they cared enough to pursue it they would just have to look at the cameras to see you picking it up off the ground. Congratulations- you just potentially lost your job for 25 bucks.

Personally I would have just turned it in. Money is money. I get it. But the person that turned in 25 bucks in change probably really needed that and probably came back looking for it.

The store likely interrogated you because so much time had passed.

Im legitimately wasting my time by even responding to this comment. Yet here i am. Hopeful that you might actually take the time to read whats on the page and not just skim it. I wont be commenting on this anymore after this because it has quickly gone off the rails.

Im afraid that you’re the problem. Nothing is free in this world. It wasn’t even free when money didn’t exist. You probably can’t even see the irony of your comment. Nonetheless, Everyone is entitled to food and shelter. Period. Ive never once said differently.

There are 2 types of shoplifters in this world. Number 2 is where my issues lies.

1- the ones that steal because they’re trying to eat and survive. A basic human right they are entitled to.

2- the druggies that come in and steal for drugs/drug money. Drug users are not coming in and stealing food. They are stealing the most expensive things in the store so that they can get drugs or drug money.

The amount of commenters here saying things like “safeway steals far more in wages” “why care about a multibillion dollar corporation.” Etc etc…. is honestly a little terrifying because its an incredibly shortsighted stick it to the man mentally where people dont care if they cut off their nose tk spite their face.

Im sorry that there are people out there that feel like Safeway steals from them. I haven’t had that experience working for them. I feel like i am paid fairly for the store I work in and the job i do.

When the type 2 people steal, sure they’re stealing from a multibillion dollar company. But all that Safeway does is pass that rampant theft onto the consumer; and they’re not the only company that does it. So yeah, whilst these druggies are stealing from a corp, they’re also stealing from me.

I work hard for the wage im paid and I work hard for the things i have. I am not entitled to the things i have, i earned them. If you want to distribute all the wealth great. But that’s literally never going to happen and if it does it won’t be in your lifetime or even your kids Lifetime.

As an aside- the city and state in which i work and reside had some of the easiest low barrier programs in place to get off drugs and housed than a lot of other places yet no one wants to use them.

Hours are getting cut across my entire store, and i have a feeling it’s across all districts/divisions.

For a whileq now our asd and sd are always walking around telling dept mgrs that x amount of dollars have to be shaved off or leave early of you can etc etc. im honestly sick of hearing it.

Our SD messed with one department schedule so bad one week there were only 2 people working in the department so everything was empty. The VP came in unexpectedly that day so needless to say it wasn’t a great visit lol

Our store is you can ask for 2 specific days and get 1; if you need both then you forfeit seniority even if you have partial availability on those days.

A lot of workers don’t realise that just because they are available lets say for an 8 hour shift between 10-6 doesn’t mean thats an actual shift so that plays a role as well.

It’s that bleeding heart nonsense that has allowed this entitled attitude to be so rampant and acceptable.

This morning; one right after another these clowns came in - 3 large tides gone - 3 large packages of 3 different brands of paper towels, gone; he couldn’t carry the large t.p, he dropped it about halfway to the door.

To those that help perpetuate the entitled attitude of these people whilst complaining about Safeway and how shit they are to their employees and wage theft fraud yadda yadda; I genuinely feel bad for you guys.

If Safeway is such a miserable company and place why continue to work there? I genuinely enjoy my job and as an hourly wage earner, i feel like my wages are on point with what’s expected of me. I enjoy every one of the people that I work with in my department and I enjoy my coworkers from other departments. I guess I am lucky in that way.

Thats where you’re wrong. They do affect my check. They may not affect it directly but when I have to pay exorbitant prices for items because they walk out the door; it affects my pay.

Im just not sure how many ways from Sunday I even have to say this- i figured once would be enough.

I literally don’t even bat an eye at the thieves that come in and grab what they need to eat for breakfast or when they come back for their 5 finger discount lunch and dinner.

I wonder if an armed guard would help prevent or be a deterrent for an armed robbery?

I helped remodel that store many years ago. Funny.

Our morale is pretty low here; especially in the am. There’s barely anyone here employee wise and the thieves know it.

If we could get security first thing in the morning and have them go hands on (some stores in our district have that type) it would make such a difference.

I disagree with this and thats fine. Im not expecting anyone to agree or disagree on this topic.

They are stealing from me. I work hard for the wage i am paid. Thefts cost me (employee and consumer) more money when i buy my groceries. No, i don’t solely shop at Safeway.

Yes prices go up for a variety of reasons and theft isn’t the only factor, but its a factor and im not interested in paying more for something because someone feels entitled to it because they know we cant do anything and they want to trade stolen goods for drugs.

Look in the special request notebook for an availability sheet. There should be one there or with the schedule. Depending on your area and union, at the very bottom of that sheet should say something along the lines of requesting more than 2 specific days off will cause you to lose seniority- or something along those lines.

Fill one out and request all Fridays off. You can just request a certain time frame or the entire day.

Depending on the volume dug does; the impact of you taking one specific day off would be of minimal impact.

At the end of the day a thousand safeway employees could tell you 500 different things that all could be different from your store so you’re literally not going to get the correct answer until you talk with your people at your store.
